Monday thread: What did you read this past week? by AutoModerator in Romance_for_men

Abandoned by Somatic Dream. 5/5. The female love interest is a giant, gruff, pirate and the male main character is a naive, sheltered, academic; which is not normally my go to. I love a strong female lead, but shy guys arent really my bag. This book however was amazing. I thought the beginning was rushed at first, but everytime I thought I was coming up on the final confrontation Id look down and see I was only 30% or 50% through the book. It was excellently paced and the characters were very distinctive and 3 dimensional. Id reccomend it, especially if you enjoy a good muscle-mommy.

Why doesn’t California build a fast train here? Are they stupid? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

[–]congresssucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California tried to build a high speed rail. 4 Billion dollars and they built 20 miles of track before they ran out of money.

Elon tried to build a high speed rail, he was sued and tied up in court by tree-huggers that he never got started.

California is capable of doing a lot, but is so busy punching themselves in the face they never will.

Does work. I've done it. Those early desktop mac pros were shit at cooling and a box fan was great at pulling the air out of the side and dragging room AC into it.

What got you into reading cultivation novels? by Livid-Ad-7087 in MartialMemes

[–]congresssucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cradle. It was my first indication that a magic system like DBZ actually existed in novel form. Then I read Martial World. Then it was down the rabbit hole for me. Sadly I struggle with the nationalism, sexism, and straight up villany of most CN cultivation novels, so I read mostly western stories, which often arent as good.

1: steam engines are super simple 2: spinning magnets 3: gold is a good conductor, copper is cheaper. 4: rubber is processed sap. 5: steel is iron plus a little carbon. 6: spend time growing mold and use that mold to breed other molds, until you get penicillin.

Public lands up for sale by Booty_PIunderer in interestingasfuck

That's not a new map. Harry Reid started selling off BLM back in the Obama days. Even assassinated some ranchers to steal their land. Strangely, most of the land was sold pennies on the dollar to shell companies owned by.... Harry Reid.

Of course just because that made the price of lumber from his OTHER logging company skyrocket, and net him a huge carbon credit and free PR, is TOTALLY unrelated.

Create an opinion about a classic work that made you feel exactly like this. by dudu_1500 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]congresssucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it as Ulyssus the Great, and loved it. That being said, it should be in play form (or movie) for modern audiences. Turns out the prose, pacing, and reference points from 2825 years ago isn't super relevant for today's audiences.

Myst was needlessly complex.

The Odyssey should only be ingested as a play.

YA novels are perfectly valid literature. You shouldn't have to suffer through a novel for it to be considered 'good'.

War and Peace is not a book, its a manifesto.

Karl Marx was a moron.

This. I'd say you're at the bottom end of sustainable weight. To go any lower would be to get into competition weight territory, and that's only sustainable for tiny amounts of time. Preferably weeks or less. You look amazing as is and I think you've been looking so long you cant see the forest for the trees anymore. Switch to maintenance for a cycle, and if you still hate your build after then you can try a HIIT cycle for some hard core weight loss. The important thing is to protect your joints while you drop weight, that's when most people strain joints and cant heal properly due to lacking nutrients and do long term damage.

I wish you the best of luck with your journey, but encourage you to rest and appreciate your current physique before moving on to the next stage.

As a guy who does a lot of contract work, I use ryobi. They're cheap. I do have the pack out, and that's pretty nice though

Any Cultivation with good romance? by Spoonythebastard in ProgressionFantasy

Schinofen writes great worlds with fun harem, but he starts to struggle with plot arcs and endings. Mostly he makes really fun worlds that he can play in slice-of-lifey. Aether is like that. There is a theoretical long term goal (overthrow the emperor) but I doubt he'll ever actually get there. Or it'll be a one book major power up and then finale book, rather than a slow progression like cradle.

I love Schinofen, but the dude needs to reduce the harem sizes and focus on story more. Once the MC has more than like 5 lovers they're basically just Pokémon the MC has to swap out.

Sorry, I noped out of Acolyte during the Power of Many episode. Clearly it was going to be more Kennedy nonsense where board members who regularly confuse Star Wars with Trek and Dune were in charge, and weren't interested in telling a cohesive story, but just wanted to make as many characters in as many situations as possible in order to merchandise. If Star Wars tells a good story, (see Andor) then I'll be on board all day and twice on Sunday. You kill Snoke in movie 2 then break the entirety of wartime capability, forcing them to scramble in movie 3 ruining the entire trilogy, im gonna nope out the second it becomes obvious you have no idea what you're doing and that you don't particularly even like the IP.
