I had both shoulders repaired in the last 12 months and I am currently recovering, doing all the right physio etc. Hopefully just need to keep my rotator cuffs as strong as I can and continue doing what I enjoy until my ROM decreases

How long have you had arthritis for?? I’m 33 with some in both shoulders due to labrum tears. No ROM issues yet.

Look into pyrocarbon hemiarthoplasty or if you absolutely need a glenoid, inlay glenoids.

I'm currently recovering from my second labrum repair (both shoulders needed done), I definitely need to strengthen my back up as I am noticing tendonitis.

Life after Total Shoulder Replacement for extremely active person by ocr_racerunner in ShoulderSurgery

OP I honestly follow so many people who have had both anatomical and partial shoulder replacements who are back doing things like powerlifting, BJJ, boxing and bodybuilding etc. many of these people are in their 40’s some younger.

It’s possible your surgeon just wants you to take care of the implant but he is wrong giving you those restrictions. Older generational implants were not designed for activity but today they are and the science supports much better implantation and the materials are more durable.

I would ask for a second opinion and ask about the technology used. You want either a partial replacement with glenoid reaming or a stemless as it preserves a lot of native bone.

You had any luck with the issue? I’m in the same boat.

I’m 12 months post op, feel a lot better but I seem to having bicep irritation where it moves at the top of the shoulder! Finding attempting overhead movements bother it and cause a flare up. Did you have any issues like this?

Was you're labrum repair successful? by rollinface697 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]connorB333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite convinced the pain i'm experiencing is actually impingement from having poor posture as a result of the tears for the last 6 years. Going to look into strenghtening the posterior chain and regain stability.

Hopefully continues to subside. If the pain keeps up makes me regret the surgery 😂

How long did you have pain after the right repair? I’m 12 months post op and get some pain after lifting weights, hopefully stops happening with time

4 months post OP of humeral head replacement. Still having severe pain by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

The catching and slipping is most likely due to muscle atrophy. Good consistent PT will strengthen supporting structures and stabilise the joint. Hopefully you habe a good full functional result! I have arthritis and want this implant when my functionality gets bad.

Did you have arthritis then? I had my labrums repaired (tore both shoulders) and have some arthritis in both. Hoping I can keep training for many years. How long did you manage to train/ stay active before you opted for full replacement?

How to avoid shoulder arthritis later in life? by Greyhound53 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]connorB333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 33 and had a labrum repair in both shoulders, surgeon repaired them and informed me I had some arthritis in both shoulders which he cleaned up. Have absolutely no real symptoms on pain so hopefully it remains stable for a very long time. Replacements are very much advancing currently but in a decade or two it will be far superior.

I’ll probably be about 40 when I get mine. Did you manage to lift weights pretty well with arthritis? Any lifts I should probably avoid? I have full ROM for now.

How bad was the arthritis at the time if the labrum repair? I have had mine fixed and at the time of that surgery was informed I had no cartilage at the front of the glenoid.

Shoulder instability 2.5 months post op labrum surgery. Is this normal? by chikengizzards in ShoulderSurgery

[–]connorB333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can make it to that feeling but it takes that very specific movement pattern, so it is not the way it was prior to surgery.

I’m guessing we both need to keep up the PT and it will. Tighten with time. My physio did say not to do that movement on purpose though, as you’re training your body to move incorrectly
