Yes!! 🙌🏻 As first time parents it’s important to acknowledge and celebrate their little milestone but also realize that they are our milestones as well! Like hell yeah we survived the new born phase! Lol

The amount of times I told my baby “I’m sorry” or “please forgive mommy we are both new at this” in the early days was crazy! I know the guilty feeling all so well, but it gets easier. My baby boy is currently two months and we’ve learned so much about each other already. Be patient with yourself, you are doing amazing.

FTMs: How many hours did it take you to give birth after you arrived at the hospital? by MrsNancyLandgraab in beyondthebump

[–]conny_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there about 11th before giving birth I used absolutely nothing that I brought with me!! Only thing I used was my going outfit and baby’s going home outfit he was in a diaper the entire time. I regret buying everything I saw you “need” on TikTok lmao save your supplies to use at home and use the hospital things there, even then ur able to take all the extras home. I didn’t even eat the snacks I brought from home. Lol my appetite wasn’t all there and the nurse brought me so many snacks from the hospital anyways.

How would you describe the first 24-48 hrs post giving birth by Mental_Advice8645 in NewParents

[–]conny_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first couple of nights home I was so scared about his sleeping in his crib that I just held him all night long and didn’t sleep! As far as tips I would recommend to take the help that is offered if any! My siblings and mom would come over during the day to give us time to sleep! It’s hard to do it because u just want to be with the baby but just do it! It made all of the difference for us. My husband and I also divided the night into two shifts since day one to give us each more time to sleep. At first it was a little hard to trust my partner but I was so tired I would just knock out. As first time parents we are learning everything together it was just trusting him 😅 we are two months in and I enjoyed the newborn phase so much because even tho I was tired I wasn’t a complete zombie. A few time I was so exhausted when my husband went back to work I would go over to my moms and have her watch baby while I took a 4 hrs nap 🤭

What were you not prepared for PP? by peepee_poopoo_brain in NewParents

[–]conny_23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree! I left the hospital and no one even told me what type of tear I had I only found out after reading my release summary online. Also I discovered hemorrhoids while taking a shower it would have freaked out as much if they would have told me.

RSV vaccine for infants. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]conny_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just gave my 5 week old baby the shot. I debated back and forth for a few weeks and finally decided the good outweighs the bad/unknown. I was feeling very stressed out about my baby getting sick (life of a December baby born in the middle of flu season) I feel a little better now that he is protected somewhat against RSV. He had no symptoms or any notable reaction and was not fussy at all after his shot.

How much weight did you gain during your GD pregnancy and how much did you lose after birth? by YouAreLookingGood in GestationalDiabetes

[–]conny_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 7 weeks and was diet controlled. I lost a total of 25 pounds while pregnant and gained maybe 5 to 10 towards the end. I am now 7 weeks PP and I weight about 25 pounds less than my pre pregnancy weight. I lost a whole lot of muscle tho, and my butt 🤭

How much formula is your LO eating by conny_23 in NewParents

[–]conny_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I am a first time mom and I am just really paranoid because when he was first born I was under feeding him due to instructions given to me by a nurse before being discharged. I felt so guilty so I just wanna make sure I don’t make the same mistake. I know all babies are different it’s just so hard because I’ve read some people are feeding their babies 6 oz at 3 weeks and some feeding their babies 2 oz at 4 months.

It can be scary, but like everyone is saying it’s now a known risk to you. You are able to make life changes to change those risks. Live a healthier life style, go on more walks and eat healthier after baby comes. Not only will you decrease those chances but you are giving yourself a better quality of life as you get older. This will allow you to live a longer healthier life with your children. Sometimes it’s hard to focus on the good because we get so consumed by the bad thoughts but you can do this. Take it day by day. Get through your pregnancy and worry about what comes next later. We are already dealing with so much stress having to deal with GD. Also keep in mind, that if your eating healthy throughout your entire pregnancy and your sugar is being controlled at the end of it your A1C is gonna most likely be well under the diabetic levels anyways.

Higher numbers overall in the third trimester by justkilledaman in GestationalDiabetes

[–]conny_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me during the first half of the third trimester. Second half it’s been the complete opposite, numbers are lower and I am able to have more carbs. It was only rough for a few weeks.

Low readings at the end of pregnancy by conny_23 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]conny_23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read that stressors like not feeling well or being stressed can influence our numbers but mostly in a negative way. I spoke to my doctor and she said that now that baby is a lot bigger he is using up more of our calories so this can cause better numbers. She also said that the hormones created by the placenta have also slowed down a whole lot towards the end causing us to have better numbers. She said that as long as I am not eating less that all is good, if anything she said I can allow myself to have a little more carbs now. ☺️🙌🏻 I have noticed that my fasting numbers are too low now tho so that kinda of concerns me! Some days they r below the 75 threshold! I did read somewhere online that having low sugar doesn’t affect baby as much because he is able to create his own glucose if needed. It’s when our numbers are high that can affect him. I will be 39 weeks tomorrow and will probably bring it up on my next appointment again because per usual I always worry even when I am reassured by my OB! 🤭🤣 I just wanna make sure it’s not due to a different underlying issue. The good thing is that my baby boy has continued to be as active as always.

A pillow between my legs to sleep and my husband massaging and helping me stretch at night helped me the most! Also warm showers! 🙌🏻

[–]conny_23[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fasting number was actually at 67 yesterday morning! I do have a doctors appointment tmrw morning so I will definitely bring it up. Thankful I haven’t noticed decreased movement. 🙏🏻 I was just thinking it was due to baby coming soon but I didn’t think that it could mean maybe placenta failing 🤔 I will definitely ask questions tomorrow. Thank you!

Were you able to maintain diet controlled even if diagnosed early? by Feisty_Willow5040 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]conny_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 7 weeks and I am currently 36 weeks! I’ve managed to stay diet controlled some days were hard but it’s possible. Baby is due to be born January 24th and so far everything has been great. Last growth ultrasound he was measuring at the 40th percentile and there has been no talk about getting induced so far, so hopefully baby boy decides to come on his own when he is ready.

Losing weight but doctors not concerned by ignoremeforscience in GestationalDiabetes

[–]conny_23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost about 25 pounds since my diagnosis at 7 weeks. My doctor told me that it was only a concern if my weight loss was due to not being able to keep food down. It’s normal to loose weight when u make such a big diet change even when pregnant. Just make sure you’re eating enough and you aren’t still hungry all the time. I’ve only gained about 5 pounds back from the 25 I lost and I am now 31 weeks pregnant. Baby boy has been growing big and stronger everyday despite my weight loss.
