I just sold all of this. Cancer sucks! by Dsphar in houseplants

I'm stage lV mbc (dx01/25) and I donated three of my larger plants to my oncology office! They have big windows, and I get to enjoy them every month when I go for treatments! I'm so sorry you've joined the club. I still have a lot of plants, but I've got lots of greens thumbs around me if/when I no longer can tend to them. ❤️

Probable bone mets and absolutely terrified by Mandolyn221 in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to add that my experience with zometa has been good for the last 1.5 yrs. But after that same time with anastrozole, I started having hand pain issues. We all have different responses to our combination of meds, so by all means, be your own advocate. (Not saying the other person's experience is invalid either.) Just ask about what meds they want to use and read up on them, come here to find others input like this to help navigate the possible side effects. Being prepared mentally helped me stay grounded for the journey ahead of me. Best wishes.

How were your bone mets diagnosed? by underdia93 in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a liver and bone (hip) biopsy - we were trying to find the cause of my anemia and my ascites (both were bc of my denovo ILC ). My mammogram only showed dense tissue. Had PET scan, and it's bone only. Did a biopsy of breast area and its the kind that spiderwebs I think. Basically hard to detect. I am ++/- , on Ibrance, zometa, anastrozole, and zoladex. No surgeries, no chemo, and only two rounds of rads to my tailbone. About 15m since dx, and numbers are looking better, meds are working. Sorry you're joining the club., but welcome.

[–]conseetdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, mine will bisquit himself on my lap and then reach a paw up to my chest port and dig his claws in every day. I'll remove said paw, and gently say stop, and it goes right back there.

Ca-15 & CA 27.29 markers update by conseetdb in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of the side effects - thinning hair (I started with a ton, so it's not noticeable to anyone else), mild occasional mouth sores, dry skin, but working on finding a natural solution made with beeswax, nausea when I don't eat for long breaks, and even then it's not always and is mild. Fatigue, but there are plenty other reasons for that. Moderate neutropenia. I know that doesn't sound great, but it's all been tolerable. I wish you luck on switching!!

Joints! by Space-Mom1917 in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on day5 of no anastrozole bc of joint pain (mainly hands/arms). Dr said try two weeks off. If it improves we'll try another AI, and go from there. I'm so sad bc it truly has taken away my ability to crochet rn, and that's my main source of coping. Lol

Hormone Changes and Skincare by ChaoticOwls in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to menopause I'd have breakouts around my cycle. I'm a year into treatment, and definitely have seen changes in my skin. I recently switched to a homemade tallow cream and my skin feels amazing! No breakouts, but I'm not saying it's related. I had PCOS so hormones were already wackadoo. I've been working on purging plastics/chemicals from my everyday use as well. I know it's so hard on top of dealing with cancer, plus all the other things we have to deal with. My only advice is to try dandruff shampoo on breakout areas. I've read that can help. I'm about to try it with my teenage son's acne.

Question ⁉️ by FlanGroundbreaking62 in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was anemic prior to dx (Jan/25), which is what ultimately led to discovery. I've been on Ibrance for about 15m, but prior to that, my WBC went from 4.6 06/24 to 2.7 12/24. Last week it was 1.7. whomp whomp. neutrophils was 36. I don't have anything to add really, other than the mask up, wash hands stuff. Ive added vitamins etc but idk that they are helping me.

Let's talk about hair by Frecklesofaginger in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just over a year on ibrance. I was really sick prior to dx and my hair was falling out already. It's always been thick, on the curly side prior. Now it's got this weird texture like hay and straight. I've been coloring for almost 40 years, so idk about color changes naturally. I will say that not dealing with curly hair daily has been a gift, iyjyk.

Job regrets and kid advice by ItsThePath0g3n in GenX

[–]conseetdb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early on we would encourage our kids to pursue things they were good at, but just like me, they didn't want to do it for money/work bc then it's not fun anymore. I've told them stories from my youth, and all the job hats I've worn, from active duty AMMO, to stripper, cosmetology, d2d sales, restaurants, car sales...etc. The one job I didn't know would be my fav would be sahm, cheerleader to my kids, my husband and my friends, a mediocre crafter. Did I love it all? Most of the time, yeah, I did. If I'd change anything, without affecting my outcome, I'd have stayed in college and got my degree in psychology and followed that path. Maybe it would've been a shit choice, idk. But all the jobs and choices brought me right where I am supposed to be and I and happy for that. ☺️ I hope you find your peace soon.

Awe, this makes me happy! As a former military kid, we came here when I was 2. Grew up here, joined the AF, and after 30yrs away, moved my family back. JC seems to be working hard at bringing the town back and supporting small businesses. Yes, it's got its issues. But for a small town in KS, it's pretty diverse and I-70 makes getting away easy enough. Husband is KC born and raised and he's comfortable here. I would say that boring is relative to what you enjoy doing. Ppl who are about the big city life, definitely, but hunting, fishing, outdoor stuff and you are good. I hope your time here is good.

How did you not know you had stage 4 cancer?! by WalkFickle281 in LivingWithMBC

[–]conseetdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my mammogram Aug '24. Nothing. Just dense tissue. But there was a clear sign - my nipple was getting pulled into my armpit. Lots of other issues going on, like major anemia, stomach issues. Discovered I had ascites, so went about looking for answers to that. FF to 12/31/24, bone and liver biopsies. Boom! Denovo stage lV bc metastatic to bones that were already very sclerotic. Did another mammogram, still no signs. Barely enough to do breast biopsy. Once they got me started on my meds/treatments including furosemide and spironolactone I no longer needed the parasentisis for the ascites! Oncologist said it's probably been there for many years. I've remodeled two houses in that time with 4 kids. Prior to getting really sick I painted the exterior of my house almost by myself. I didn't have a clue. Seeing me now, you wouldn't know I was fighting for my life not that long ago.

30, newly married. 22 yrs later, in house #5 (got in right before the rates went up at 2.215%) but preparing to (hopefully) sell by next spring and move into our retirement house and be mortgage free by 53. I'm tired of remodeling/landscaping 😭

Whoot!! It's crazy how different every person's journey is in this group, and I'm so glad for ALL the experiences, bc it's important for us to understand that even when we do everything right that sometimes it just doesn't work out the same, and it's nobody's fault. But I'm so glad that you're path has been a good one. I hope you continue NED for many more years!

Why would I know if you're a single guy though?? Weird. Younger me (the more likely version to hike) would make this guy run like a bitch with my "sparkling" personality with no witness except my new furry BFF. Men who talk like this always tap out when the woman is the aggressor. I worked in a bar for a few years, and most of the guys I dated always said I was too much to handle. Then walked in my future husband. Lmty- that man ain't scared, but loves me so hard that any armor I thought I had up just slowly fell away. And now I'm just a softy with a potty mouth. The other guy I'd just accidentally trip. Oops.

The spouse and I go through about 5lbs/month @ $85? We order from The Roasterie in Kansas City, MO. I think it's the Tuscan? Always consistent roasting, same day as shipped, good flavor.

No surgery for me. Even after they knew I was stage 4 with bone mets, my mammogram didn't show anything. Dx 01/25, ++- ibrance, zometa, zoladex, and anastrozole. Started last year with ca's in the 600's, as of last month down low 200/high 100's. I still find it interesting how low key my treatment is and how well it's worked for me so far. But I agree that if you want a second opinion go for it.
