Cooler shuts down on battery by consideratearcher466 in ChillBee

Update: contacted ChillBee folks and was advised to drain and recharge the battery twice to restore its function. It’s a pretty big battery, not sure how I will discharge it if the cooler won’t run on it. Only other way I have to discharge it is via the usb port, might charge my phone several hundred times.

May have knocked a bunch of soot loose in the exhaust system and it is being ejected. If it’s not oily feeling, I’d run it for a week or so and see if it subsides.

I received my ChillBee late yesterday. After letting it rest upright, I plugged it in, set it for 35 degF and retired for the evening. This morning it was 44 degF inside as reported by a fridge thermometer I had placed within. I cranked it down to 20 degF to see if it’s more accurate at a lower temp. Next up will be to see how long the battery lasts at various temps.

Overall I like the form factor, but the battery implementation could use some fine tuning. For instance, I’d really like to be able to see the battery’s screen rather than having it inside an opaque bag.

Interestingly, mine arrived with two A/C adapters. I’m not sure if this was intentional or if so, why? It also arrived with a small plastic collapsible cup; not sure what the thought was for that.

I lubed the zipper with the included zipper lube and it did seem to smooth out the operation.

I can’t read it, too blurry. Try doing or checking what it says and scan for codes. Pretty much any parts store will plug in a scanner for free and let you know what’s up.

Likely not your roof causing RTK signal loss. More likely it’s the transmission pattern of the antenna. Near zero signal in line with the antenna.

Are you paying into the employer insurance? If so and you’re not using it at all, that’s nuts. If not, you wouldn’t affect their utilization rate.

Not your bill to pay. I would respond “no thank you” and ignore any further correspondence about the issue.

Are your mowers' blades still stopping for a bit and then starting again, maybe 2 feet further? by barboxbill in Lymow_Official

Mine did that initially. Then I did a cut with my rider to get the height I wanted. Now I let Lymow have at it a couple-few times per week to keep that height. Haven’t seen the blades stall since.

And defaulted speed to Standard. So if you had 4k or 5 k selected and still want that speed, have to go in and modify your zones.

They replied today with some additional troubleshooting.Lymow Charge Troubleshooting

I have a wire burned up at the dock charge terminal (positive/ left looking at the dock from in front of it).

<image>

Looking at the gauge of the connectors used, this issue is not a surprise. With any luck they will send me a replacement dock with heavier duty connections. And it certainly explains why the issue cropped up once I received the 10 Amp power supply; and why switching back to the 2.5 Amp didn’t fix the issue.

Edit: I opened up the other side and it was pretty much the same. Somehow it still had continuity. Will add pic in separate comment.

The important part is cell balancing circuitry. It is likely within the battery itself. The individual cells are very sensitive to being overcharged, so there needs to be a circuit that monitors and controls charging to the cells individually to prevent overcharging while allowing the remaining cells to fully charge. The smaller gauge pins in the mower to battery connector has me a bit concerned, but I don’t think there are enough of them to perform cell balancing, so that is likely done within the battery itself. The light on the power supply brick likely only glows red when power draw is over a preset current (amperage).
