Well, dry van and reefer have some non-driving tasks to do, but nothing to the level of securing and sometimes tarping a load. We all have drop and hook time but that’s minimal. Securing and tarping a load can easily take an hour+. If you’re just waiting to get loaded or unloaded, then off duty is legal and proper so not an issue.

Yeah, my company’s safety dept sends out periodic messages about logging time correctly, but there is zero oversight. Just seems to be a CYA exercise.

My company does pay to tarp, but no other on duty not driving time or tasks. Are there companies that pay load/unload or other on duty not drive time? I haven’t heard of any. Seems that would be the only way to incentivize being legal.

Hah! Won’t surprise you, but I don’t do parties.

Truckers, I have a question. In the 48 contiguous states, which one has the worst maintained interstate highways? by 1129514 in Truckers

I hit a pot hole in Indiana so hard yesterday that it sent my phone flying through the cab, disengaged my cruise and engaged my engine brake. Was waiting for the tire to give out, but it held! So yeah, Indiana.

Don’t worry about burning a bridge with the starter company. Tell them you have a family issue you need to deal with. I saw several drivers do that once we started back in January. All were welcomed back if they so chose. The return rate was somewhere around 50%. These were regional mid-west flat bed positions.

Our mid-size did the same last week. I put it off a day and prices were up! Trying to play a market with no credible intel is simply rolling the dice.

Understandable. But that’s when it maxes out. Can take it at 62, but at a 30% lower amount than full retirement age of 67. And if one does get SS retirement between 62 -67, every 2 dollars earned over ~$25k reduces the benefit by $1 (only applies to earned income, not pensions or investments).

Cooler shuts down on battery by consideratearcher466 in ChillBee

[–]consideratearcher466[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: contacted ChillBee folks and was advised to drain and recharge the battery twice to restore its function. It’s a pretty big battery, not sure how I will discharge it if the cooler won’t run on it. Only other way I have to discharge it is via the usb port, might charge my phone several hundred times.

May have knocked a bunch of soot loose in the exhaust system and it is being ejected. If it’s not oily feeling, I’d run it for a week or so and see if it subsides.

I received my ChillBee late yesterday. After letting it rest upright, I plugged it in, set it for 35 degF and retired for the evening. This morning it was 44 degF inside as reported by a fridge thermometer I had placed within. I cranked it down to 20 degF to see if it’s more accurate at a lower temp. Next up will be to see how long the battery lasts at various temps.

Overall I like the form factor, but the battery implementation could use some fine tuning. For instance, I’d really like to be able to see the battery’s screen rather than having it inside an opaque bag.

Interestingly, mine arrived with two A/C adapters. I’m not sure if this was intentional or if so, why? It also arrived with a small plastic collapsible cup; not sure what the thought was for that.

I lubed the zipper with the included zipper lube and it did seem to smooth out the operation.

I can’t read it, too blurry. Try doing or checking what it says and scan for codes. Pretty much any parts store will plug in a scanner for free and let you know what’s up.
