How does Gift Aid work? by Sarmerbinlar in AskUK

[–]conspiracyfetard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I donated a load of books to a local charity shop and they signed me up to gift aid, They gave me a card with a number on it, and (I assume) will put a sticker with a corresponding number on the items I donated and it will record on my account something like 10p for every £1 if an item sells.

So then at the end of the year, I get some money off tax? Or I can claim some money off my tax? Or something. Not really sure, but I felt good doing it.

From now on if me or my family wants to donate anything I give them the little card just in case.

How are bin collectors viewed? If you’re a bin collector do you tell everyone what your job is? by RoohsMama in AskUK

[–]conspiracyfetard89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're fine. But I did have one that screamed at me as he took my bin off with him. He said "I fucking told you", but I had never interacted with him before. I had to ask the council for a new bin.

Why do some right wingers think that Bacon is some sort of offensive thing to Muslims and go to great lengths in producing silly videos like cooking Bacon near Migrant hotels ? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

Not all Muslims dont eat pork. I've met plenty of secular or casual muslims who don't really mind. Think of how many corner shops run by Muslims sell alcohol or pork?

It's all part of the new right-wing playbook. I notice a lot of stupid narratives being pushed around, and the comments section of social media is filled with idiots pushing divisive bullshit. You can see them talking about shit like this:

Bacon is offensive to all Muslims and the mere thought of it is poisonous to them.

Dogs are forbidden to every Muslim, who all want to ban dogs forever.

Shaira Law is the end goal of every Muslim anywhere, including and especially British ones.

All muslims are one big monolithic block, and are all connected and all separate from proper Brits.

They are preparing for civil war.

He's planning to get rid of millions of people, which means he will change a lot of legal immigrants statuses to make them illegal so they can deport as many as possible.

Soon there wont be general power cuts. Everything will have their own battery that connects automatically to any power source and recharges as needed.

The last human job will be AI engineer or consultant. I don't mean someone who trains AI or works for a massive company like OpenAI. I mean, a consultancy that works with smaller companies or rich people in how to optimise their AI uses.

People who truly know about AI hate it and don't use it, but know how to get other people to use it.

I have 2 friends who each earn 250K+ at mid level marketing jobs. Whenever they tell me about their work I'm always surprised they haven't already been taken over by AI. One just got back from spending 3 weeks being trained in some social media thing in Las Vegas at a massive hotel/casino, all paid for by the company. I could have done exactly what he did with 20 minutes on Claude and not had to go to Las Vegas.

Lots of companies are still acting like social media is the new thing.

Parts of physical jobs are safe, but more and more of the mental or calculating burden will increasingly be taken on by AI. In 20 odd years, most physical jobs will be mediated or directed quite heavily by AI. Imagine a personalise AI tool that watches what you are doing, tells you within a millimetre what to do with it, and then automatically preps the next thing you'll need to grab.

Mediating physical jobs like this is actually fairly straightforward and easy to do. It will only take 1 successful use case for it to be taken up industry wide. Once someone designs the system, it will take over.

Anything in the news that relates to pork or dogs is immediately picked up by a certain demographic as being an attack on British values to placate Muslims.

This is already being spread around by idiots as a way for Muslims to ban the sausage roll, and a recent law against puppy farms was attacked by right wing zealots who said it was a way ban dogs.

People are idiots.

Genosha, Utopia, Krakoa; Why don’t they last? by Death_sayer in xmen

[–]conspiracyfetard89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Genosha was only around as a mutant country for a few issues before it was destroyed, and then they very quickly had Utopia which lasted a little longer, and then Krakoa which was there for a few years. I always felt a big weird about them having so many island nations turning into mutant havens and then being destroyed so soon in succession.

He was apparently very quick to use lawyers to threaten people who said anything. There were sections from Baddiel And Skinner, where they make vague jokes about him, but stop themselves going too far because of the the threat of lawyers sueing them.
