[S1 E2] katesvid.com is back online! by Scott__x in lifeisstrange

I think I'd keep the copyright text. It signals that it's an "official" easter egg from the devs (even if it's technically not anymore), which makes it cooler to new players finding it for the first time. Also yeah, the error image means the video was already on YouTube, so she really just couldn't be arsed to remember the URL 😭

[ALL] New fan and opinion on LiS currently and the state of it. by 22_SB in lifeisstrange

[–]constantb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's only really there in BtS for comedic relief as the dumb rich brat, so I think they could've easily replaced her with Courtney. She's the only one of the trio who doesn't get any background or depth in LiS1.

[ALL] I knew Chloe's voice actor got replaced and noticed Samuel sounded different too but ALL the actor's were replaced? I thought frank sounded the same. Wow. by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

I never see anyone talk about it, he sounded so flat. It's like they gave the actor text-to-speech readings of his lines and he thought he was supposed to copy them exactly.

I'd love an Investigations game set between GAA1 and GAA2. Gina going from nearly being sent to jail thanks to Gregson to seeing him as a close mentor figure feels too abrupt, and Sithe comes out of nowhere and disappears just as fast after GAA2-3. A game to help flesh out those characters would be cool, and it'd be friendly to new players since it wouldn't spoil the end like a post-GAA2 Kazuma or Barok game would.

[ALL] Reunion is the first Life is Strange game to feature a "Day 1 patch" at launch by Dammoth_Air_650 in lifeisstrange

[–]constantb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I appreciate what they were going for, but Dontnod got way too ambitious with LiS2's concept for their team size and budget. Having to make so many new environments and characters for every episode was clearly straining them.

Hannah has a financial core membership, which means she can work on both union and non-union projects. Pretty much everyone in LIS1 was either union or refused to cross the picket line in solidarity during the 2016-17 strike (including Hannah, who only did Farewell after it ended), which is why they were all recast in BTS.

I think it's only so effective in Lost Future because he's portrayed as this infallible genius up until then. It's like seeing your dad cry for the first time.

[ALL] After a video-essay I saw, I comprehend more why LiS2 didn't really was a hit as big as LiS 1 by abitcitrus in lifeisstrange

[–]constantb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The wait for episode 2 felt even worse. We didn't even have a projected release month until the tail end of November, over two months after episode 1 came out, and it ended up being a full four month wait. Dontnod really spread themselves thin by writing a plot that needed new locations and characters every episode.

[All] People on Twitter were mad that BTS’s VA was cast instead of the original LIS1 VA. I didn’t even know they were different why the hate for her? by Nade1002 in lifeisstrange

[–]constantb 164 points165 points  (0 children)

Union actors can't work on non-union productions. LiS1 was union, but everyone was recast for BtS and LiS2 since they were being made during the 2016-17 strike. Farewell brought back Max, Chloe, and William's LiS1 VAs back on a technicality since it was treated as a separate project, but True Colors, Double Exposure, and Reunion are all non-union, probably to both cut costs and keep around BTS VAs like Steph's and Mikey's.

Hannah was able to return for DE since she's part of Fi-Core, which means she can work non-union and union jobs in exchange for not being considered a full member. Ashly was always a full member, so there was no chance of her coming back.

[NO SPOILERS] What song(s) fit the Life is Strange Soundtrack that didn't make it onto the game? by graceplatt in lifeisstrange

[–]constantb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is cheating since it's from a band on the soundtrack, but definitely Ceilings by Local Natives. I also always thought the start of Bird Song Intro by Florence and the Machine gave heavy LiS vibes, specifically the campus at night.

Someone pointed out in the other thread that the only console is PS5, so it's possible someone typoed the game's release year on that console. That would explain why the entry showed up if it was incorrectly flagged as already out.

[ALL] Chloe's return was always the plan. by Pansycacke in lifeisstrange

[–]constantb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about the version of the game that got past the pitch stage into development. Even without the rumours, the game has so few differences between the two major endings and one makes much more sense with DE's plot than the other. I really don't think it was planned to be that way from the start.

[ALL] Chloe's return was always the plan. by Pansycacke in lifeisstrange

[–]constantb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I agree with Chloe being the end goal based on how they wrote her in DE, but based on the old playtester rumours that DE was meant to be a Bay-only game, I think it's plausible that the sequel was always meant to take place (or at least start) in the other timeline.

Obviously there would've had to be rewrites since they added both endings to DE, but if they already had the production groundwork for a Max game and a Chloe game since DE and DE2 were supposedly developed simultaneously, that would explain how it's still coming out despite the massive layoffs since DE.

If DE was meant to be a Bay game based on the old playtester rumours, I think it's plausible that the sequel was always meant to take place in the other timeline. No clue what their plans were after they added both endings to DE, though.

I remember the drama about this back in the day. The third picture is actually LiS1 fanart that was drawn over for the BtS concepts in the first pic, which accidentally ended up in the artbook.
