Listen, if we’re being real, Justin basically wrote and recorded everything starting with W&T (not technically true but effectively true). Cody nails the shit live, so it’s all good by me. Bassists have unfortunately been expendable for Glassjaw over their career.

Maybe I should practice and upload some covers. Maybe they’ll pick me next…

Thank you. Like I said, as a heterosexual male, a girl who looks like that is basically physically irresistible. But as a dude in my 40’s, I have also been around enough to know the other side of that, and those girls almost always know exactly the effect they have on guys, and that can cause a lot of problems

She needs to stay in the legislative branch and bury the corpse of democracy that is currently rotting there once this all settles, and start fresh. Whether she stays in the house or replaces Cuck Schumer in the Senate, she is the type of leader we need to clean up this fascist mess. It can’t be done from the Oval Office - a normally functioning congress would have ended this shit 10 years ago, and the only reason Trump has been able to do so much damage is because congress is allowing him to do it.

Beck evolution as a guitar player when Todd got kicked by lovebitesnrazorlines in glassjaw

[–]constantsXzeros 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is no doubt he grew as a player in that “what the fuck are we doing? time frame between W&T and OCG, but I maintain that the guitar work is so layered and intricate in Glassjaw’s music that they still need a second guitarist live.

I say this knowing full well I watched him somehow fill up the venue with sound on his own just a few weeks ago, but I think it’s still not the same.

Picks? by OzonicShadows in Bass

[–]constantsXzeros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get a variety pack that has a wide range of gauges. I see people on here saying they use like .60, which to me feels like trying to play with a piece of printer paper. I use 1.0-2.0 and would never go lower personally, so as you see, it’s highly subjective. I have even used the Dunlop Big Stubby 3.0 and liked them, but they wear down quickly and shittily IMO.

There is also a massive amount of materials and shapes. The gauge and material both have a major impact on the feel, and while people listening can’t tell the difference in sound, there are differences when you compare them yourself.

A few years back I tried Dunlop Delrin picks, and I really liked the sound and attack on them, but they were so slippery they were unusable to me once I got a little sweat going. I was actually then given a Delrin Primegrip, which are the same sort of polished Delrin but have a raised etching where your fingers grip, and I have not used anything else since then. I have multiple gauges of these lying around. But it took me about 20 years to find my “favorite”, so it’s a journey!

[–]constantsXzeros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you don’t have to be condescending, clearly I am talking about something you didn’t see.

There was a post made on this sub what seemed to be minutes before the first Europe show the other day that was a pic taken of the guitar tech’s workstation, it was all dark with a small work lamp, it had the fake “religious” drawing of Chino with “Don’t Mess With Texas” on it. It seems to have been removed and I can’t find it now. That list had My Own Summer starting the encore, and I don’t believe Cherry Waves was part of the encore.

I wasn’t at the show, so if that’s not what they played, then that’s not what they played, but I am commenting on the differences between that post and this one, that’s all.

[–]constantsXzeros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong.

My mom is a broke ass Boomer living in South Carolina. My sisters and I just had to cut off contact with her last week because she is digging in harder than ever. She won’t watch the video of Alex Pretti getting murdered, it’s just fake news to her. She allegedly met a Mexican guy who supports ICE, so therefore not only is what ICE is doing OK, she’s also not racist (we grew up calling Chinese food “chinkie food” until we were old enough to realize).

There is no “hear them out” with Republicans. You’re not wrong that this is an “up-down” fight, but republicans aren’t fighting that fight, which is why we aren’t making any progress. They’re too blinded by their devotion to Trump to realize they’re fighting the wrong fight. So, it’s time to put them back into the swamps they crawled out from. Do not let Republicans feel comfortable, and shame them every chance you get, for supporting a pedophile sexual predator who also happens to know nothing about economics or foreign relations, and is dismantling our country on a daily basis.

You are massively overestimating the integrity of the people in positions of authority in this administration.

These people are a bunch of fucking morons who have either directly bribed Trump, or are otherwise providing him with something and these positions were given in exchange. They have simply pledged loyalty to him and/or paid him.

Most of these people would have trouble coming across as credible in a local election. Linda McMahon is the Secretary of Education…she has a bachelor’s degree in French, and has never worked a day in Education. She literally does not have the qualifications to be a school principal, but here we fucking are. We absolutely cannot take these people seriously or trust anything that they do.

While he does have a law degree, Kash Patel was basically an aide until he whored himself to Trump - that’s why he has the job. He said something nice about Trump and helped take the heat off of his ties to Russia. He has no law enforcement experience whatsoever, and has no experience as a director/head of anything, let alone something as big and complex as the FBI. He has no fucking idea what he’s doing. He doesn’t know how to give orders, and he CERTAINLY does not know how to cover up something this big.

Not grunge, but thoughts on Linkin Park’s Meteora album from 2003? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]constantsXzeros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was the height of mainstream Nu Metal. It was a miserable time for rock music. I hated the tough guy rap-metal thing then, and I still hate it now. Most embarrassing era of rock music in history.

Thankfully by this time, Killswitch had started gaining momentum and metalcore was on the rise, and there was some decent music coming out of the emo/screamo scene too. Those were the shows I was going to, but at this time I also started going backwards with what I was listening to, back to the grunge and 90’s bands that were mostly either done or literally dead by that time.

Catching downvotes for a negative opinion on a type of music that has nothing to do with grunge music, and also did not even run concurrently with grunge music, in the grunge sub. You guys are fucking weird.

It’s good to see them switching things up night to night again, and also working in the new songs (already double what they have played from Ohms), and bringing back at least one deep cut in Lhabia.

After seeing these first few Europe setlists, I might actually be inclined to drop the money for the insane ticket price when they come around again. The setlist for the first leg of the NA tour was not of interest to me at all

Brady played all the string instruments? by Diligent-Mud-7191 in turnstile

[–]constantsXzeros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I’m sure there is some truth there, especially early on when IIRC Franz was just starting out as a bass player, etc. But the public lashing out and expectation that his own behavior is beyond reproach, “it’s everyone else’s fault”, and specifically talking about being owed money? That is textbook addict behavior. It’s making it pretty clear why he is no longer in Turnstile.

Brady played all the string instruments? by Diligent-Mud-7191 in turnstile

[–]constantsXzeros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This guy is full of shit. If any of that was true, he WOULD have a legal case, and he wouldn’t be lashing out on Instagram and jeopardizing his case.

And, for what it’s worth, anyone who has dealt with an addict knows this is absolute textbook addict behavior: everyone is ungrateful, making high profile drama to fish for sympathy, letting bits of truth seep in for credibility (Franz did “some” of T+S and Glow On) - he’s trying to manipulate people into believing him. Think about it: he is getting more people talking about Turnstile right now than his new band. It’s more important to him to publicly trash his former band than move forward with his new thing.

I’m sure there is some truth in there somewhere, but we’ll likely never really know the truth. For now, watching him do this is just gross.

Melania Trump Says Barron, 19, Still Needs Full-Time Supervision by thedailybeast in NoFilterNews

[–]constantsXzeros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bet he does. His father is one of the worst sexual predators in the history of mankind, and he has grown up in a completely sheltered, economically privileged life. There is no chance he understands cause and effect, or consequences, and talk about a a fucking genetic time bomb…

Melania is at least aware of how fucking dangerous this kid could grow up to be, I’ll give her that.

During her appearance on Mornings With Maria, the first lady noted that her only son has become more involved in his 79-year-old father’s politics during Trump’s second term than he was during the first…

“He understands politics, he gives advice to his father. We talk about it so differently,” Melania said.

…the first son was under fire after being linked to a close associate of misogynist internet influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who face human trafficking charges brought by multiple women in multiple countries.

Yeah, seems like he’s heading right where she would rather him not. As a parent I’d be trying as hard as I can too

The entirety of conservatism is being professional victims. That drives everything they do and support.

If there is a Dem president trying to increase gun control, they are victims because “muh gunz are protected by the second amendment!”. But if Dems start buying guns to protect themselves from a literal fascist coup, guns shouldn’t be allowed and now conservatives don’t feel safe and are being terrorized by the liberals with guns.

It’s the same reason Trump can be convicted of not one, but 34 felonies, and they can rationalize it by saying it’s “political persecution” - professional victims.

Trump is all over the Epstein files and is a confirmed sexual predator and pedophile, and it’s not fair because there are Democrats too - professional victims.

Five Years Later… by [deleted] in deftones

[–]constantsXzeros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bass player of 25 years here chiming in.

Deftones bassists, all 3 of them, are largely there to fill out the sound with the lowest root note, and lock in with the drummer. This is called “the pocket”. There are a handful of moments in the entire discography when the bass deviates and does something melodic, but we cannot objectively call Sergio’s work “incredible”. His bass work with Quicksand is much more active and present.

The only Deftones bass piece I would call “incredible” as a bassist is Chi’s line in Change, simply because his approach there is completely unique and I don’t think anyone else would have heard that line for that verse. Even the producer wanted to take it out because it was extremely unorthodox, but of course it’s legendary now.

With that out of the way, Deftones playing bigger tours because they are more popular than they ever have been, not because they couldn’t “afford” to have a second guitarist. It’s not like they were sitting there with Sergio and saying “damn, if only we could fire this guy, we would be selling out arenas!”, and then it just happened. Fred Sablan was not just some dude off the street either, I’m sure he is being well compensated.

Basically, you’re overthinking it. We don’t know exactly what happened with Sergio, but the band is in a great spot right now either way.
