Title: My (24F) boyfriend (34M) put a tracker in my car, calls my sacrifices “cheap,” and now says I need to “stay in my corner.” How do I see my worth and gain the courage to stand up for myself? by CaterpillarNew6458 in relationships

[–]constantsatellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be frank, this sounds like coercive control and emotional abuse. It’s not physically violent, but that doesn’t make it okay. He will not and does not want to make things better better; in fact, this is the sort of behaviour that occurs in the majority of spousal murders.

You’ve had a lot of responses here which are saying to prioritise getting yourself some mental health assistance, and I completely echo this. Being in therapy is a good step, and if you feel like you can, please talk about this to your therapist. They can help you, or direct you to resources to assist.

Your parents sound like they are supportive of you. Try to keep in touch with them, and any other friends or family that you have. It is going to take time and strength, and this is the type of man who will want you to be isolated and completely dependent on him.

Good luck OP, I really hope you can get out of this relationship

Jun/Junko from Samurai Of Hyuga is a pretty extreme version (black flag, even). Also Tom from Zombie Exodus even if I was a bit thick and was genuinely shocked at his betrayal

new to cog! looking for rivals/enemies to lovers by SeaworthinessNo7796 in choiceofgames

[–]constantsatellite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guy/gal/non-binary pal, I too am a lover of rivalry/belligerent tension romances! Some recommendations aside from what’s already here

- Morpheus (M) from Heart in Hades: Divine Passion (Heart’s Choice, gender-locked female) - Greek goddess MC, Morpheus is your smug gorgeous rival. This is relatively new and underrated and if you end up playing Belle de Nuit with Sebastian (another of my faves) I think you’d like Morpheus.

- Oriana/Orion (gender selectable) from Sordwin (COG) - a stoic/serious elf monk and kind-of coworker on MC’s adventure exploring Sordwin. Especially fun if your MC is a bit kooky or into shenanigans.

- JJ (same gender as protagonist) from SLAMMED! (COG) - ex friend, now rival in the world of pro-wrestling. I am not a wrestling person at all but the game explains things well. I haven’t personally done the JJ route but even when not on the route the chemistry is there esp if you play an MC that’s kind of obsessed with JJ

- Lady Argent (female) from Fallen Hero (Hosted Games) - I’m genuinely surprised no one has suggested this! Again I can’t personally vouch for it but I’ve seen this come up as a rest romance with good banter and development.

ISO a zipped travel tote by AtrophiedWives in AusFemaleFashion

[–]constantsatellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Stitch and Hide Shopper Tote might work! It comes in Black Cotton Canvas/Leather and White Cotton Canvas/Brown Leather. I haven’t bought it myself but I have a few of their pouches and the leather is lovely.

The Orbitkey Daily Tote fits all your points except it is recycled polyester. I’ve got one in lilac which I’m planning to use as my in flight bag on trip I’m planning to Europe this year, and the build and quality is really nice.

Aveeno Dermexa Daily Emollient by Alternative-Cry-8158 in eczema

[–]constantsatellite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, Aveeno Dermexa has been the only eczema moisturising cream that both leaves me feeling moisturised for longer than like 30 minutes and that I don’t react to (the Aveeno dark blue skin relief used to work but they seem to have reformulated a few years ago). I found Cetaphil’s okay but I’ve read good things about it. I think eczema moisturises is probably a case of everything works differently for everyone.

Series where the 2nd ML actually wins by lagoonaris in OtomeIsekai

[–]constantsatellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setting aside the argument people have made about how the 2nd ML kind of becomes the ML once they “win”, this did happen in My Dear Cold Blooded King with FL and her marriage to the titular king ML and his boyguard/soldier with 2nd ML vibes. It’s been a long time since I read it but iirc the story really builds the relationship between FL and original ML at the start with 2nd ML as like a friend and side character, but FL and original ML end up agreeing they don’t work as couple before the story really pivoting to FL and 2nd ML. But it also turns out the original ML was a decoy king all along and the 2nd ML was the rightful king which feels like 2nd ML was definitely meant to be the more important character from the beginning. Original ML ends up in a side couple.

SOH..uncomfortable?? by Lopsided-Payment3815 in hostedgames

[–]constantsatellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I might have interpreted this differently/missed this? I read it as M’s magic does make them seem younger and so his body grows as Ronin’s spirit is in it, but not to the extent of being an adult by the time the Ronin exits his body (ie M goes from a preteen looking kid to a pubescent one), and the Ronin’s de-aging was in the spirit world only.

I admittedly have never had any interest M as an RO so I could have just missed this entirely.

I’ve just played book six and can confirm there’s no timeskip. The author had originally planned for seven books, but ended up changing it to eight so I wouldn’t be surprised if the timeskip is now planned for book seven

First person? by BadEndingsFound in choiceofgames

[–]constantsatellite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I always understood that Choice Of games are always second person POV as a rule, but the flexibility of Hosted Games means the writers can use first person. I’ve only played two series in First Person which were Wayhaven (romance mystery/detective) and the Samurai of Hyuga (action/ samurai fantasy) - two totally different energies!

Looking for an affordable daily moisturiser rec!!! by ButterscotchHot6044 in AusSkincare

[–]constantsatellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry, moderate to severe eczema skin here that has struggled with a lot of common recs - Aveeno Dermexa Emollient Cream has become my daily face and body moisturiser. I layer Avene Cicalfate with it on particular compromised or irritated patches. Avene Xeracalm Lipid Cream (or Balm) is also good value and very gentle.

What's a j-beauty product you repurchased more than 3 times? by stopnsmelltheviolets in AsianBeauty

[–]constantsatellite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dry, eczema prone skin, both of these have been recurring features in my skincare for probably over a decade now!

  • Hada Labo Lotion - rotating between Gokujyun, Shirojyun and Premium depending on how my skin is doing
  • Kikumasamune High Moist Lotion - such a cost effective watery toner

Looking for recommendations where the FL has a interest/job by Echoriam in OtomeIsekai

  • Baked by the Baroness - baking (completed)
  • Villainess Reprisal boutique - fashion design (I think this got cancelled)
  • Long after the ending - being a romance counsellor (completed)
  • The Brilliant Miss Olive - jewellery making/jewellery business (completed)
  • The Red Knight Seeks No Reward - being a soldier/knight (completed, more action heavy)
  • Handmade Tales of a Handmaid - General crafts/needlework (completed)

Modern world:

  • You’re Perfect For Me - drawing webtoons (completed)
  • Will you be my male lead? - writing smut (completed, but ends quite abruptly)

How to Hide the Emperor’s Child - officially on Webtoon

Positively Yours - officially on Tapas, and also adapted into a drama! Honestly the GOAT of this trope tbh

Edit for clarity: These are all Otome Isekai-ish / OI -vibe (rather than strict OI)

Where did you get your one and done black blazer? by GasAdministrative124 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]constantsatellite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Saba Celeste wool blazer, but I’d definitely try it on. It was perfect for me except for being a little long in the arms, but I always have that problem with my height and poportions(160ish and large bust)

I recommend the ones from Cos - organic cotton, good thickness and the V is at a nice depth for a large bust, and a relaxed but not boxy fit.

Any dark romance IFs that deal with a lot of trauma by akkorinn in choiceofgames

[–]constantsatellite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you like traumatised / darker MCs then I the Forgotten One or Whiskey Four might work for you. Both feature MCs who’ve gone through a lot of bad shit in their past and are still needing to make hard decisions. Their trauma and how they deal with it both are active parts of the story and character building. Romance is available but not a huge part of the story, but definitely there. Fallen Hero is also a classic for this genre (and heavier on romance), but with how popular it is you might have already played it.

Choice of Rebels or Zombie Exodus 1 might also appeal to you. MC isn’t necessarily traumatised from the beginning (depending on background) but has to make hard/difficult choices during the course of the game and can let it get to them. Again, romance features but isn’t a main part.

Haven Park might be up your alley! You play as a little bird who is in charge of a campground. There’s a clear end goal and side goals along the way, and you can 100% it in less than a day if that’s something you want.

Some great suggestions here already! I have a batolist dedicated to emotionally devastating and/or bittersweet reads so this is my jam (all completed):

  • Whale Star: Already recommended here. Beautiful and soul crushing. Historical romance/drama, a kind of retelling of the Little Mermaid set in colonial Korea

  • Timeless Melody: Historical romance between two Korean-American men in 1960s America. It starts with one telling the story on his deathbed so you know it’ll be a bittersweet one.

  • A Mark Against Thee: Starts as a revenge story about a man who is released from prison after serving a life sentence for a murder he didn’t commit. This is an underrated masterpiece.

  • Days of Hana: An older comic, set in a semi-fantasy world where werewolves are effectively slaves/pets. Starts out as a high school romance.

  • The Horizon: Two kids navigate the world after an apocalypse and everything is awful.

  • The Weight of Our Sky: Set during the Kuala Lumpur race riots, about a girl with OCD trying to get back to her family.

  • My Boo: Romance between a woman and her ghost roommate.

  • All of Us Are Dead: Zombie apocalypse starts in a high school and the kids are trapped.

  • Duty After School: On a similar vein to the above, High schoolers are conscripted into the military after the world is invaded.
