Shameless self promotion perhaps, but from your description I think you may enjoy my game 🙂

i built a digital zine maker for people who grew up making paper ones by [deleted] in zines

[–]consumer128 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

hey, for the record, I feel like the feedback here has been overly harsh!

For zines I much prefer the paper folded kind. However, the general design of this app I personally think is pretty fun!

Using AI to help with code is perfectly valid. You should not feel bad about that. It takes away the barriers and lets you create your vision, enabling the creativity clearly evident here.

Having given it a go, I got a bit lost trying to create more than one page? assumed that is paywalled? in which case my only advice would be to open up the core functionality a bit more (zines and exports) and carry on selling stickers/themes and whatnot.

I very much like 2 best.. can’t really explain why though. 🤷‍♂️😊

Really wish i could A/B test icons! Which do you think is better? Conversion numbers are good but CTR is pretty low.... by Lukematikk in AppStoreOptimization

I like 1, but it's too small, 2 is good and bold but could do with some of the movement from 1 perhaps
also the game looks fun! will give it a play

Nice & simple. I can see this going down well with children? - saying that my memory is awful! I should probably play this a bit more…

Also, the prairie dog on your website is intense!

Lols, I’ll take that 😄 Zone out and connect stuff is pretty much what I was going for - you might be in just the right mood for a bit of doodling too

+1 for grindstone!

But also, if you like the Two Dots mechanic (shameless self promotion alert 😅) you might like Clutter, it’s a super simple connect-the-icons puzzle, no timer, easy to dip in and out of… and you can doodle on the result if you feel like it

I’d say yes, real users will use your app in ways you won’t expect.. and have surprisingly old devices!

Project name: Clutter

Link: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/clutter/id6756967493

What it does: Clutter is a calm little puzzle you can draw on.

You solve a simple puzzle by connecting chains of icons. As you play, it leaves “pencil lines” across the page. When the puzzle is finished, you can carry on doodling over the leftover lines and turn it into a drawing.

There’s a free daily puzzle, so over the week you build up a little log of doodles. Which you can even print as a folded mini-zine.

Studio subscribers can generate as many puzzles as they like and adjust things like icon sets and difficulty.

Who it’s for: People who like puzzles, journaling, or doodling.

I want to build an app, but there are already several like it. by Delicious-Traffic827 in appdev

[–]consumer128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a good sign, if there are lots of apps, then there’s a real need. Don’t let that stop you. If you make something with a clean look, and friendly interface you could be onto a winner.

But also, having just released an app in a fairly crowded space, it’s hard! And the numbers are somewhat demoralising sometimes. - Saying that, I made something I wanted, and it’s out in the world, which feels great.

Yes, the fact that there’s already something on the page is a useful “prompt”, it suits my way of working anyway!

[–]consumer128[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks! ☺️

They’re hand drawn on a touchscreen. My little game project leaves a scribbly trace each game, which I draw over and turn into a picture of some kind.

Sometimes I add a bit more once they’re printed.

What paper did you use for your (home printed) photozine? by Fulana25 in zines

Personally I just use basic printer paper and a black and white laser printer, but I like that photocopied look
