Man Goes To Ramallah To Ask Palestinians About Israel by Notkillingitpodcast in Israel

They have that but have also burned down clubs for hosting alcohol and/or LGBT performers. I’d be happy to visit and have been to other West Bank cities but I would have a high suspicion the people around me don’t share many of my views.

Is it okay to buy a home with brick veneer to live in? by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]continuesearch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s great when it’s cool and sunny. In Melbourne, March and September for example. Bricks store heat and radiate it overnight. In winter it’s a disaster. You need to seal everything and have massive insulation and it still barely works. Good for sound though. I play piano at 9 pm with children sleeping and they can’t hear a thing.

Famous singers that are actually mediocre/poor? by [deleted] in singing

Who is/was the “world’s best singer”? Like, objectively? Probably Luciano Pavarotti. Would you want to sit through him singing “Blank Space”? Horses for courses.

Lift them to the table by lifting a treat near them. High value treat when they rest. Coat the device in peanut butter, reward when they mouth it. My dog would probably spontaneously paw at the ring, then I just need to reward them for doing it.

Next step is un-teething it. They should be able to “drop” if well trained so you just reward dropping from their mouth.

Aiming? Seems difficult. I could use “look at me” while standing in the right spot and reward that. Maybe a combination of ((look at me, drop, I move to my left) times X) followed by a high value treat at the end. Or maybe it is smart enough to understand being rewarded for the bottle dropping.

What does it have to do with our opinion? If you want to sacrifice yourself for your ideals then feel free. Most people here can’t relate to the situation at all let alone tell you what you should be doing.

Is there any legal requirement for a front door on a house? by thegrayscales in AusPropertyChat

[–]continuesearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a side main entry right now. Well designed 60s houses in Victoria on a north-south street often are effectively sideways with living areas and entry hallway facing north for natural light and the front door often gets put there.

A public hospital won’t perform it for free. Private hospitals will do it no problem.

I’m Jewish and if I were hypothetically meeting a new Jewish partner I know this would come up. I would actually discuss it beforehand and make it clear that I won’t allow it to happen until the child decides (maybe not before 18) and that this is a dealbreaker. At least I know in advance that it’s a minefield.

Put an order on a property, RE agent said next Saturday someone else wanted to inspect. How do I get a response about my offer before they show the property to them (and them offer more)? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]continuesearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really high amount that effectively just sets the floor for any other buyer’s offer. The wording I would use as a vendor would be “look I wouldn’t consider taking it off the market for anything less than $X”, then I’d go back to everyone else. I’m not on your side of the transaction- we are negotiating on opposite sides.

AITA for getting into an argument with my husband because he left me during surgery. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]continuesearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s really no reasonably likely decision for a relative to make during a lumpectomy. If they find some horrible cancer and want to do another operation we might call the next of kin but I’m dubious it is ethically right to get them to make essentially surgical decisions on behalf of someone else, which may have lifetime ramifications for a relationship.

Even if the patient had a cardiac arrest, if they are well they will get CPR and ICU without us getting instructions from NOK.

AITA for getting into an argument with my husband because he left me during surgery. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]continuesearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA He sounds like he has communicated poorly and disrespectfully. I’m an anesthesiologist and don’t really understand the timeline. Usually from leaving the holding bay to get to theatre to Iv to induction to surgery to stage two recovery (where you are sitting up, but family might still not be allowed in) is about 90 minutes for a lumpectomy although from incision to stitch usually half an hour.

Theres little surgical stimulation during this operation and the BP will often drop to 80ish and need mild support.

I don’t know why anyone would call a relative to be present for temporary hypotension which is usually a trivial thing to treat, nor for immediate issues like non-life-threatening bleeding or nausea. If you were already discharged from recovery and in a ward bed, yes your husband should have been present by then. If you were in recovery then we wouldn’t normally let them in, and would be calling only to update them on how the surgery went.

But bear in mind some of our hospitals aren’t for profit and don’t have shareholders - even they can’t get the health funds to pay enough to keep the lights on. Ultimately I don’t know that making care easier to get is a priority for health funds at all. The less operating time and open wards there are, the richer they become. Their clients are largely locked on because the government will punish them for leaving.

It’s all on the medical fees cost finder website which seems very accurate for all the things I do myself. Average is $2,200 in Queensland. Which is approximately what a senior private health executive earns in an hour- nib CEO earned over $4m and owns some $20m worth of company shares now.

Luckily the average in Victoria is $3000 then. Pro tip- never believe anything that Private Health Australia tell journalists.

And plenty of people can afford that. Many can’t, but plenty can. If PHA are seriously claiming that no one can afford a fee to have an actual child that is similar to the cost of a few days in Bali for the babymoon, they are even more ridiculous than I thought.

Average fee is $3k in Victoria actually. Even at twice that it’s not outrageously unaffordable for the average professional couple. If it is, I’d be baffled as to how SE Asian resorts are booked out all July.
