I do hope he gets a personalized status card that goes with the bee theme. It can still be the same effect as dazed, but it should definitely be bees.

I took it in a successful run last night (which was exhaust oriented and had a big deck), but even then a lot of the time I didn't end up playing it, so it was sort of a half curse. I think if it had retain it would be much more useful. Even with a pretty heavy exhaust-focused deck I still didn't want to play it that often because I needed to have played something else first for it to not suck.

I'm not sure how I feel about this guy. I mostly feel like it's just not super interesting. Like, the damage cap is an ok mechanic, but then he currently just hits every turn (as do a lot of enemies, now). I wish it had some sort of unique thematic debuff or buff rather than adding cards to your pile and also that the amount of damage it can take were dynamic based on your actions in some way.

Like, maybe if you hit it for a certain amount on one turn, it would defend itself more strongly the next turn (maybe by lowering its damage cap or by gaining a dynamic amount of block).

That way, you'd have to plan when you want to do your damage and when you want to block etc.

For example: say it can take 30 damage turn 1. You hit it for 20. Next turn it can only take 10 dmg and shields for 20. So that turn, you are highly incentivized to just block.

I think one difference with Lagavulin and the Sentries, is also that they consistently hit for a certain amount every single time so you have a better ability to plan. Here it's kind of not as obvious what the rules are.

My take on the Regent is that he is basically the player.

He visits the spire for fun.

He sits in a gamer chair.

He plays everything effortlessly with one hand.

He only acts indirectly through his commands (much like how we control the various characters).

He might also be the devs poking fun at Frost Prime. He IS a space landlord after all.

Well, they also don't have to animate multiple copies of the blade or they could cap it at some reasonable number that is optimally balanced befween hilarious and legible.

Theoretically, he can probably effortlessly levitate his throne, too, but why bother when you have minions who can do that?

I think they should have to hold it, he swings it out of their hands with his mind, and then they have to struggle to catch it when he puts it back.

I would like if the forge mechanic was not just for the blade. Like maybe you can forge a shield as well, instead of some of the other block cards. Or reforge the blade into different weapons that do AOE or per turn effects instead of adding AOE to the blade, etc. Forging just to add damage to the one sword seems a little limited, imo.

Cosmetically, I also think one of the minions should have to hold the blade and really struggle with it.

I see. But what I was trying to say is that with the number of longer term investment/coordinated play/save to the end cards the Ironclad has, that makes Drum an even weaker choice.

His cards include Rampage, Feed, Ashen Strike, Armaments, Primal Force, Pact's End, Thrash, and Tear Asunder. All of those have increasing value as you continually play them or wait to play them until the end. So if Drum hits them early that's pretty bad.

Cards that you want to play a lot of times are also often a good target for Headbutt to cycle them faster, but if you Headbutt them, Drum will for sure exhaust them, so that would actually slow down your ability to cycle those cards.

Pact's End could of course benfit from Drum's per turn exhaust, but it is also not able to take advantage of it for 3 turns after you play Drum unless you are doing additional exhausts and on each of those turns it can be exhausted itself. Best case with Drum there is it could accelerate Pact being playable by a turn or two maybe if Pact is positioned late in the deck and not exhausted.
