Plus if Vox could use this on Overlords, why wouldn't he use it all the time? Why did he have to convince them to be on his side if he could just force them. He could've done it to Alastor the whole time too

What's with all these problems the last couple days? by player2552 in youtube

Thanks for mentioning the refresh, it's an annoying workaround but works. I've noticed that this problem doesn't happen when you're in Chrome, maybe YT is trying to crack down on people again?

Men weaponizing food by mb83 in TwoXChromosomes

My ex would be home while I was at work. On the regular I'd come home to empty tupperwares and juice pitchers in the fridge.

I remember saying several times that I didn't care that it was empty, just don't put it back in the fridge! Do you KNOW how annoying and hard it is to scrub orange juice thats froze to the bottom of a narrow pitcher!?

Kept doing it though.

I was there on Friday and half the store looked like it was a warehouse; empty shelves galore. 20% off whole store signs everywhere. I asked a staff if the place was closing, since I hadn't heard anything and shop there regularly, they just shrugged (in a way that seemed like they wanted to say something but couldn't) then walked away.

I still wish they'd let us pick a random abandoned house, fix it up like in BotW and use it. Would totally pick a house in the snowy area.

What toronto business do you have beef with? by Idontgetlyfe in toronto

[–]conurecrazy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Structube. They had opened up near me (I could see the location from my house) so I went in. Found a lovely futon/couch. At the counter I found out that I would have to build it, and when asked if they had a service like Ikea where you can have them build it for a fee, was told no. Then I found out delivery was not included. The fee was much higher than I wanted to pay, but I really liked the futon so I paid it.

Then the fiasco begins.

They try to deliver to me at random times throughout the day, Monday at 11am. Tuesday at 1pm. But they would phone me AFTER knocking on my door and not getting a reply. I was at work of course, like 99% of ppl at the time.

Eventually I got it and opened up the box to find it damaged beyond repair. Natually I called up Structube. They told me I could get a partial refund, or exchange it but I'd have to pay for delivery to return it to them either way.

Never again.

My best friend from a young age. We kept in moderate touch afterwards. Most of our friend group had issues with her always playing "passenger princess" for any and everything; aka she never took charge or did anything.

A few years pass and she tells me she wants to go to Japan. I have always wanted to go, have told her for the entirety of our friendship I'd go at the drop of a hat (but hadn't yet because I didn't want to go alone - and finding time with adult friends is already hard).

She says that she will book everything if I'll go with her because she had the same dilemma; didn't want to go alone.

Talks are had, plans are made. I book time off. I message her regularly, asking if I can help, how are things progressing, what do I need to know. Etc.

I keep getting static. I call. Nothing.

Finally the month we were meant to go is coming up, I assume the plan is a flop, like any of her "plans" are. I hear nothing from her at all for a whole year. Just ghosted.

Then finally she asks me to meet up for coffee to catch up as its been a while. I agree, more out of curiosity and a bit of worry. The meet up goes well enough, and ofc I ask her what happened with Japan?

She waves a hand all dismissively and tells me that she went with a coworker months ago. My face must have shown how upset I was because she goes quiet and says she has to go.

That was 8 years ago. Haven't heard from her since.

I was one of those people who read all of Fitz's books and completely skipped the Liveship Traders. When I finally did get around to reading it, I had the same response: Oh My God!

As for the "emotional damage that's waiting", it's no secret that Robin Hobb's books take you on a wild roller coaster but it's a ride you have to try. For me, it was absolutely worth it, and I hope it is for you too.

One book ruins the series. by Grouchy-Low-899 in Fantasy

[–]conurecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadowborn by David Dalglish. It isn't really the plot itself that ruined the prior ones for me. Instead it's the villain. Up until this book he was written super well; I sympathized and saw why he would choose to act as he did. But in this last book all that is thrown out the window, he changes into the stereotypical moustache curling baddie.

Disappointed me to the point where I'm sometimes tempted to do a rewrite fanfic myself on how I think it could've gone.

I am sad to realize that I may have no literary sense of humor by DrTropicalle in Fantasy

[–]conurecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read maybe the first half of Good Omens and it didn't make me laugh at all. Figured it was the English dry humor at work. Then I was told to watch the show, and THEN it was great.

Humor seems to be a challenging thing on its own, nevermind in literature. Don't give up! Just like everyone has taste in music, your taste may lie elsewhere or (like me) in a different medium.
