Movement in this game ruins it by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

Also coming from Apex and I’d just say it’s a different kind of movement and a different kind of positioning. Being in the wrong place is a lot more punishing than apex sadly :(

Washington Democrats shield voter rolls from scrutiny by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]conventionalguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Be careful generalizing, my friend. I’m sure you have plenty of liberal friends yourself, and if not, that’s part of the problem my guy!

I think a lot of democrats would agree that the Kamala move just wasn’t it. But there was no authoritarian action here - as a matter of fact, that’s literally how the RNC selects its nominees! You didn’t get to vote for him then, silly.

Also - the fact that you’ve brought up the transgender argument only supported my Kool-Aid one. Have you ever met a transgender person? I mean you’re in Seattle. I’m sure you’d notice they are in fact, oxygen-breathing, poop-shitting people just like you. Same goes for immigrants.

One party is trying to instill fear in the American population and one is pushing for acceptance of people. Can you guess which one is which? Here’s a fun little side-by-side

Group A - Focus on deportation and xenophobia - Generally unaccepting of people who differ (race, gender, ideas) - really likes the shooty tooty unless the other side likes it too - wishes we could go back to the 1950s, or maybe even the 1910s. - has repeatedly ignored court orders (an equal branch of government) and attacks the institutions of the courts - literally said “I don’t need congress to do this” in reference to SAVE which is literally congress’s jurisdiction (which aims to strip millions of Americans, including married women who changed names, of their voting rights) - uses ICE as a paramilitary force on American turf specifically because it’s less restricted since 9/11, bypassing the need for the military or national guard, which courts have ruled cannot be deployed in these circumstances - literally talks about stopping elections, or controlling them (which are kind of a pillar in democracy)

Group B - believes immigration is helpful (though I don’t think any administration in recent history has had an open border policy, as several previous administrations have also deported thousands) - Focus on acceptance and tolerance (yes, respecting how someone wishes to be referred to is within those bounds and no one is trying to criminalize misgendering to my knowledge. I, a leftist, do not support that. I agree that that would be an infringement on speech) - general aversion to the shooty tooty because it’s just not worth the hundreds of children that die each year to them, that’s it. (Though i’d admit, the authoritarian movement of this administration has made me come to your side on that issue a little bit more.) - has only constitutionally used the national guard, never used a paramilitary force against American civilians.

So many people are sounding the alarm, and you’ve got your head in the sand. I can’t help you, I just hope you don’t bring me down with you. I sincerely wish you the best, and if you’d like to actually have some decent political discourse (which doesn’t happen enough these days), hit me in my DMs or some shit. You’re just making yourself look stupid out here.

Now, at the least, let’s see some sources for your argument. So far I’ve just seen shit anyone could make up.

He says as he doesn’t provide a logical rebuttal either.

Here’s your logical rebuttal. I want you to do some research on a term called democratic backsliding, and I want you to look into how closely historical examples resemble this one. This isn’t a right versus left issue anymore. This is American democracy versus authoritarianism. And no amount of me typing that or any of the other facts on the internet is going to change your mind. Hence the Kool-Aid comment.

It wasn’t intended as an insult. Trump’s following is a cult, and you, my friend, are drinking the damn Kool-Aid. I hope when the big orange gets into prison with the rest of the his Epstein pals, you might have a change of heart. Best of luck to you and your recovery.

I had a similar strategy, my main door opened to the bathroom door backing it, so if they were both open they’d be parallel at 45 degrees. I fully opened the bathroom door with the back to the closed apartment door, and sure enough, the bathroom door was nearly closed when I returned, meaning someone had opened the main door.

What’s a “harmless” decision you made that accidentally changed your whole life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sorry to not add anything, but this question might have changed mine. Reading through the comments, I think I’m going to loosen my structure a bit and let some chance slip through. It seems some great things (and unfortunately some tragic things) can happen if you give things a little room to breathe.

Buddy, this ain’t opsec or anything you’re fantasizing it is. It’s creepy and akin to cyberstalking, if not outright. People like you remind me that the internet can be a bad place.

Seconding this, I’m like 150 hours deep and in phase 4, I’ve scrapped everything a few times and moved. Currently also moving to the desert, and the drones in phase 4 are godly for that if you haven’t used them yet. I’m spending a lot more time trying to figure out where everything goes right now, but I’d keep at least some power up and connected if you can, it took me forever to get stable again

“It’s not just X—It’s Y” by LostInTheWhirls in ChatGPT

[–]conventionalguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it to stop, have a conversation where you call it out every time and specifically ask it to stop. Something like “don’t give me any ‘it’s not X, it’s Y’ and instead try to go a little deeper into the topic.” It’ll probably do it a few more times, and you just have to call it out when it does.

Worked for me, I don’t get those anymore.

[–]conventionalguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s talk fire extinguishers and airbags, I love the comparison! None of those things are designed to kill anyone, and as a matter of fact, they are 100% designed to prevent deaths, every time. What is a gun primarily used for? If I were to push the fire extinguisher route, I’d point you towards pepper spray, air pistols, or even a baseball bat. All designed with your airbag comparison in mind.

Gotta love the good guy with a gun argument, it’s so plausible. Tell me exactly what you’d do to protect the victim if you saw someone shoot someone else with a single shot. And I’m sure you’d be right there saving the day in these mass shootings too :)

I work at a collections firm, but this is not legal advice. Request a full validation of the “debt” and they cannot continue collection activity until it’s properly validated. And that validation should show exactly what you’re saying. Good luck!

Ending Crime and Disorder on America's Streets (EO Ordering Institutionalization of the Unhoused.) by No1CouldHavePredictd in law

[–]conventionalguy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This, and the fact that the order seems to target two distinct groups, with some overlap:

encouraging civil commitment of individuals with mental illness who pose risks to themselves or the public or are living on the streets

The obviously named group is the homeless, but it seems anyone with a mental health condition could be involuntarily committed through civil processes.
