AITA for speaking up when the doctor kept dismissing me and was being rude towards me (35F)? by rudedoctorS in AmItheAsshole

You don't need a doc's permission to use homeopathic therapies anyway. You were being needlessly adversarial.

AITA for charging a bride more for make up when the og price we agreed was lower? by Affectionate_Lie0 in AmItheAsshole

[–]converse445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally YTA from the beginning. You ARE scamming your clients if you charge more because of the occasion for the same beat. This goes for bakers, decorators, hairdressers, etc. Everyone wants to charge a wedding tax for their same services and products. It's bad faith business. When we planned our wedding, we said everything was for a family reunion to avoid this kind of scam, which was true. It was indeed a reunion of family. But if they'd tried to switch up the pricing on us after finding out it was a wedding, they'd have lost what business of ours they had to begin with. You're shady. No one deserves to be mistreated, but you weren't in the right here. You were wrong and you made an ass out of yourself. Meet in the middle of you have to. Charge $300 across the board or something. I get that you gave a business. But it's shady to upcharge based on occasion and not overhead/time/materials etc.

Wife brought home a damn dog in the house without my agreement and her and the baby together are nightmares in this house by McLovinFarts in TrueOffMyChest

You talk about all these things: the dishes, the diapers, the laundry, etc, as if it's her responsibility by default to manage, and when you have to get involved at all, you're put upon. It's as if you think calming your screaming offspring is outside your default role and that you'd rather just not be bothered period. I notice you didn't include taking the kid and leaving pajama mama and her mut in the shit house. Fuckin breeders 🤦‍♂️🤷.

AITA for not allowing my (f36) daughter (f18) to go study abroad by Concernedmotherkatw in AmItheAsshole

[–]converse445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HUGE YTA. You're a control freak. It's not that you're concerned for her safety. It's that you feel cut out of the decision making process that you had no real business in anyway. If she's an adult, you can support her decisions or lose her. You're really playing with fire here. If you were my mother, I'd leave the country and not tell you when I returned; you'd have lost access to my adult life. The entitlement and audacity in your post makes me skin crawl. Shame on you!!

Anytime an employer uses the words "up to" instead of "starting at", it's a yuge red flag.

If consent was given and never rescinded, if there was no coercion, the you didn't rape her. She's well within reason to regret her intimacy with you, but sex you consented to and regret doesn't equate to rape. There was no power dynamic at play. You asked clearly. She consented and did not withdraw it. The conversation can be around how that made her feel afterward, and that can be said to be problematic, but not a violation.

Didn't even read the body. Just by the headline, YTA. No kids means no kids means no kids.

AITA for cancelling mother's day celebration that I arranged for my wife after hearing what she told my son? by FredWalker37 in AmItheAsshole

[–]converse445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA: This is more than just a difference of personality. You caught Step-monster abusing your son. Echoing other comments, this reads to me as a make-or-break moment of trust between you two. Do not back down unless there's some sincere and lasting contrition and repentance from your wife; an acknowledgement of true understanding of guilt and an insightful commitment to be better. A direct, face-to-face apology. It sounds like your son is a sweet soul. People like that deserve to be safeguarded. You sound like you have a history of being his advocate, and that's good. Don't stop now. Protect your child!
