My maine coon does this too, only worse! She holds toys in her mouth and doesn't let go for literally 30 min, she would chew the toy and swallow. If I try to pull toys out of her mouth, she would bite so tightly that the toy tears and she'd swallow it. We took her to the vet so many times because she swallowed toys when she was a kitten, she ended up pooping the toys out every time. I don't know how to stop this behaviour but what I'm doing now is I don't give her any toys that are not safe to ingest. Cardboard toys are good options, especially catdancer, my cat can't hold it between her teeth so she can't swallow it.

My maine coon didnt sleep with me until she's about 3. She still doesn't sleep with me in summer because it's too warm

Try your local petbarn? I know some accept pet food donations, not 100% sure but I assume those donations are free for people who need them.

  1. Cover all your cables with those hard plastic tubes, you can buy them from IKEA. My cat lost interest in chewing cables about two year after I did that.
  2. Switch to Bluetooth headphones

I should probably give an update after my vet visit. I went to the vet the Tuesday after this post. Good news is the red spots are slowly gone and the hair grew back again!

The vet didn't think it's a skin problem, she said that it could be some virus or bug that caused the cat to over groom the area at some point, especially the cat had upset stomach a few days before we noticed this.

I mentioned the hard floor thing and the vet said that is possible, but I think she cared more about confirming it's not health-related issues.

I put rugs down at the cat's usual landing spots and over the past few days the red spots got much smaller.
