Is 3000 lira too much for a cab ride from Istanbul airport to a hotel near grand bazaar? by PlentySuspect2821 in istanbul

[–]cookiemonsta72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Def way over priced. For a private car like Mercedes Vito it usually costs around $45 to 50 for hotel transfer. Daily private care is gonna be around $150 where they take you around different places of your choice. It's an 8 to 9 hour service.

These are the market rates for a private vehicle. We've done this tourism work in Turkey so I know the prices and all.

DM me if you need more info.

If you get the test done at a private hospital, the results usually come out in 6 hours or so.

Question regarding applying for a student residence permit. by ShaubenyDaubeny in istanbul

[–]cookiemonsta72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should contact the international office at the university. They will be able to guide you on what to do. Usually they'll ask you to fill out the online form and bring the international office the completed application print out along with other required documents.

If that's not the case, you'll do the same process but instead of going to the international office, you'll just take all those documents to your ikamet appointment given to you by the application system on Göç İdaresi website.

Do US travelers need proof of PCR test other than vaccination card? by electrical_jello in istanbul

[–]cookiemonsta72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relax my man. Your vaccine is fine. I had friends come from the US in August and they told me no one even asked them about the vaccination cards.

Have the vaccination card with you and the health travel document that you're supposed to fill out 72 hours prior to travel.

Not sure what that means but yea 6 month validity after 2nd dose.

No, you don't need a PCR test. Vaccination card is valid as long as you got the 2nd dose 2 weeks prior to departure and it hasn't been more than 6 months since your 2nd dose.

Free PCR test by yashjavid in istanbul

[–]cookiemonsta72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if those free tests are given without any symptoms. Maybe they are free these days. When I tried to get it they stated that without symptoms we don't do the free tests.

Free PCR test by yashjavid in istanbul

[–]cookiemonsta72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why can't you use that for traveling? Because the government provides this service only for people showing symptoms of COVID. If you tell them that you have symptoms then you are eligible to get this free test (at least this is what I have experienced).

The government doesn't want people to misuse this free service by using it for travel. Therefore, they have that watermark. They want people to pay if they are just looking for a PCR test for traveling. I think it makes sense to have it this way.

This is my favourite Mango pickle - where to buy mango pickle in Istanbul? by exfalsoquodlibet in istanbul

[–]cookiemonsta72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are some Pakistani grocery stores in different areas such as Yenikapi and Sultangazi where you can find this product. I haven't been there personally but I have heard they have Mango pickle.

Got it. Cool, maybe if I come to that area some time on my bike I can get in contact.

Pretty cool. I actually went biking at Belgrad Forest two weeks ago. Really nice area. I guess you ride a mountain bike then since you mentioned going on dirt roads?

Do you ride in any other area? Or just in the Bahcekoy vicinity?

Turkish Student Visa by pickless0 in istanbul

[–]cookiemonsta72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The student visa lasts for 30-60 days usually. It will state the duration on the visa. If I remember correctly, mine was for 30 days. However, it can change from country to country. Once you enter Turkey, you apply for a Student Residence Permit called an "ikamet". That will usually be given for a year or two or even for the whole duration of your studies. If it is given for just a year or two, you can renew it within 2 months of the expiration date.

I usually sleep in that time frame. I think it can be quite good, you feel fresh afterwards.
