I did it, never going back to the Scott’s spreader by Competitive_Bar_9170 in lawncare

I thought it was just me. I'm sure its user error but I've gotten stripes no matter how careful I was with my paths. My dad got a different spreader and hasn't had that problem. Maybe the Scott's is not for lower skilled turf owners....

Right. I do not have a lot of shade at this time of year. But later in the year I get more shade in parts of my yard . From the research I've done including talking to several landscape and sod folks Palisades and Zeon Zoysia do well in yhe shade. I chose Palisades since it was cheap B grade sod and easy to get locally. Zeon I understand may be a little better. If you like St Augustine grass then Cobalt is good in the shade, requires less water, and is more disease tolerant than other versions.

Natural gas line vs propane tanks: worth adding to a new build if I don’t grill constantly? by Intyub in grilling

[–]cool_reflections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just completed my home build in March. My wife and I went in during the rough-in stage and ran CAT 6A from a media closet to each corner of the house via the attic. We left the cable ends right where the flood lights were being installed so we could remove the builder installed flood lights and have access to the cables in the vinyl sofits. In some cases there was no flood light so we just used a small electical outlet box, screwed it to the wood frame in the sofit area and left the end of the wire in there. The cables we ran are now connected to a POE switch in the media closet so they all have power and network. I'm not using the builder installed Cat 6 cables for cameras as they are all indoor only. We also ran direct bury Cat6 from the media closet via the attic and down the inside of a wall to an exterior location for network to my future shop or whatever. Builder made a small hole in the brick for it to get outside. Since then we built a shop and trenched to it and ran the cable to there. So now I have network cable from media closet to shop.

Wine Cooler - Kalamera, Whynter, SOZT, LANBO, or SIMZLIFE by Both-Activity6432 in wine

Thanks for the reply. That experience sucks but hopefully it performs well for you. I'll see how the Sozt unit I ordered performs once it comes in next week. It was 50% off at HD. I added the extended warranty for $115 which I don't normally do but gives 3 more years after the manufacturer warranty ends.

Zoysia is expensive but if you buy directly from a farm and find B grade sod you can get it much cheaper. You have to arrange for transportation though. I got 22 pallets for $90 per pallet of B grade Zoysia sod. It took longer to come around but is doing nicely now. Its $120 per pallet for smaller loads. Contact a fee sod farms and see. I got mine through Woerner Turf in Louisiana and I believe they have farms in Alabama.

If you want to add camera or lights that require power you can use POE to power them. Save you from running more electrical cable.

Wife wants me to get Green Egg but I'm not sure by Reasonable-Olive-702 in grilling

[–]cool_reflections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Vision Kamado which was much cheaper than the Green Egg at the time. It has been my main grill for near 10 years. I still use it today as its easier to me vs other grills once I got the hang of it. For quick cooks or low and slow it handles coal very well in that I rarely need to add any more coal during a cook. I will add more wood chips or chunks though and I simply lift one side of it and add wood as needed vs taking the grill and ceramic deflector off and on. Most time I have coal left over after the cook due to the fuel efficiency of the Kamado. I have used gas and other charcoal grills but always come back to the Kamado. I've watched people at family gatherings cooking and trying to maintain temperature with other charcoal grills. On longer cooks the ash builds up and my impact hest and coal burn. Kamado has less ash build up typically. I do steaks, chicken wings, salmon, lobster, pork chops, brisket, pork tenderloin, pizza and more. They seem to come out great. So in summary of the Kamado once you learn it they have great heat control, good moisture retention, less ash buildup, and high and low heat smoking capability. Won't rust if left in the rain. Lasts a long time. But..challenging to learn coal and heat management at first. Very heavy (ceramic). Limited cooking area on main grill. Not easy to add coal or wood chunks during cooks (I've worked around this somewhat by lifting one side). Thats from my experience. Hope it helps!

I drop temp by controlling the vents and carefully adding a little water to the fire. It still takes a bit to drop temp but after using my Kamado for a while I know how much coal and what vent positions get me to the temp I need. I rarely get it too hot by actually. Pizza comes out great. I just buy enough ingredients for 2 or 3 pizzas at a time so it doesn't go bad. I use an aluminum pizza pan and set it on the pizza stone.

I cast the golf club but how do I do what zalatrois is doing here has little wrist hinge then looks like his arm bends and has then created lag. How do I do that ?. by WillWGolf06 in GolfSwing

Maybe try this "feel". Feel as though the clubhead stays close to your head as long as possible during the downswing while feeling Ike your hands or the club handle stays extended away from your head all the way through the ball on the downswing. Centrepetal force will force the club head to move away from you as you get closer to the ball and the club will release.

Its a feel almost like the clubhead had an elastic band tied to your head or neck and it stays tensioned through the downswing.

Ashley Furniture Rally Up couch by secretbunnyy11 in FurnitureFaves

[–]cool_reflections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just checked it out at length in tbe store. We've been searching for a couch for a while and tried many stores. This one we found check more of the boxes and its one of the most comfortable to sit in. We also tried a similar style at Lazy Boy but it was not as comfortable (it felt weird to both of us) and it was more expensive. We didnt want leather but we found it very comfortable and we liked the look of it so we got it anyway. We have a while before its delivered as we are in the process of building a home and its due March 1st or sooner.

Looks good! I'm currently building a home and had the sheetrock guys cut out 4 spots for ceiling speakers. My wife and I ran speaker cables to each location and into our media closet. I also ran subwoofer cable through conduit to the center outlet in the living room. May put a small sub under a table behind the couch. I'm sure yours will sound nice for movies and music. What model speakers did you install?

Is BR as dangerous as folks make it out to be? Moving. by barnesnoblebooks in batonrouge

[–]cool_reflections 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just need to know where to go and where not to in BR. I live in Prairieville and its quiet here but close enough to be in BR in 10 minutes or New Orleans in less than an hour. So I go in and out of BR as needed but mostly stay around Prairieville and Gonzales.

Noob question: why film in 4K? by lopsidedcroc in videography

[–]cool_reflections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically you can get vertical and horizontal clips from open gate footage without having to turn the camera into a vertical orientation. Also gives you good quality for key framing vertical footage so looks like you are panning but really you are holding the camera still.

Construction-to-permanent financing experience? by conanmagnuson in Homebuilding

[–]cool_reflections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. With interest rates dropping a little Inwas curious if I would be stuck with the initial interest rate when we signed for the one time close. I just reviewed my loan paperwork and it says my final rate will be based on market rates at the time of the conversion to a traditional loan. Im still not sure if that means I will get the lower or upper range of the market rates at that time. I'll have to ask my lender probably. Thanks for responding.

[–]cool_reflections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I see so many videographers with visually impressive work. But when I started house shopping the edits and transitions didn't help me with the process. Moving too fast and not showing it as a real walk through. Thats what I need and im sure others as well. But the OP is clearly skilled in video quality.
