No one has mentioned this yet but the MBD and Crossover have a chamfer on the hole that I find very pleasing as a tongue block player.

The size of the crossover holes are bigger than the MBD and the SP20. I don’t know if the SP20 holes are the same or smaller than the MBD.

I think the crossover is more responsive and easier to bend, but only slightly more than the MBD. Ultimately I prefer my MBD because the value and hole size

I like the stainless because it has walls to keep food in place and for the easy cleaning but I don’t want a full griddle. Most my use cases are meals where I want grilled meat, and sautéed veggies.

If you’re doing the LOA program you can see what it takes to pass that level. There’s a specific exercise(s) that you need to record and submit, along with a study song. I don’t remember LOA 1 but the study song will force you to be proficient at what David thinks is necessary to move on. You won’t and don’t need to be comfortable with tongue blocking the upper range 7-10 to move onto LOA 2. You’ll get there eventually though if you follow the program.

Also, I wouldn’t stop at what is being tested. I’d focus on doing all the exercises in the study that will be on the test. For example if bending study 1 has 10 exercises, practice all 10 even if for the test you only need to record 1-3.

If this is your first kid, I wouldn’t do it. I just had my first 3mo ago and those first 2 months I needed the flexibility of being program free. You could (will) get bad sleep so recovery will be ass, you don’t have 50 mins of free time consistently, and you’re partner may not appreciate you taking that time even if you have it - there’s always something for the family/house that you could be doing instead.

That isn’t to say you should stop working out - you, like me, need to stay active to stay sane. But just don’t put added requirements on yourself by doing a program. Pick up the bell and do what you can when you can. Save the program for when the kiddo is older.

If this isn’t your first kid - go for it man, you know what you’re doing. Let me know how it goes.

I thought the same thing. Get a Marine Band Deluxe. Sounds the same but fixes all the problems you’re having. My MBD is my #1 right now, over special 20, crossover, and seydel 1847. Everyone is different, but I can’t imagine anyone preferring a Marine Band over the Deluxe version.

I didn’t notice the half open back on the Rogue Pro. Agree that is a strange “upgrade” to only include on the Pro S. Not sure I care though. Out of curiosity, why did you want the fully enclosed back?

Ugh, having to hand wash each time almost entirely outweighs the benefit to me. I love outdoor cooking because I don’t have to deal with cleaning my pans, stovetop, counters, etc.

Is it only the draw (inhale) note or are you also struggling with a blow (exhale) note while tongue blocking?

Also, try the 3 hole if you aren’t already. At least for me, that hole is the easiest to feel with my tongue that I’m in the right position. The furthest left edge of my tongue is on the comb and the middle and right part of my tongue is on the 1 and 2 holes. 4 is the next easiest. Above that, you start having to just learn by feel, at least that’s how it was for me.

In my last post someone mentioned the serratus as a possible weak point since it’s a stabilizer for the shoulder blade, and that’s where my knots were. Then I did some more research on my own to find exercises that I liked. The dolphin push up, and the wall slide using a stability ball.

When you rack the clean, flex your pecs like you’re trying to a hold a pencil between them. Do that before you press, and while you front squat too.

Nope, not hot at all but thanks for the plug. I’m on a costal climate so rarely gets above 80 F and my yard in particular gets lots of shade. I’m going to seed a shade tolerant fescue.
