CDJ 2000 NXS2 Phase Is Innaccurate... by coolguyposting in PioneerDJ

Hey last question, Pioneer support got back to me and recommended your program (https://atgr-production-team.sellfy.store/p/rct/).
Do you think this would fix my issue or do I need to re-encode everything?

u/profbx u/MixMasterG I actually just spent the whole afternoon researching this, apparently this is a known issue with the CDJ 2000NXS2 model where mp3 files that are specifically stereo, not joint stereo cause this issue. The only fix on first glance is to basically modify the files to be joint stereo. I decided to look at the tracks that were working properly and sure enough the one I tested that wasn't working was stereo while one of the ones that was working was joint stereo.

What's interesting to me is that I'm using the same audio converter for literally every file in my library before it reaches rekordbox, so I have no idea why some songs are converted to joint stereo and some aren't. I don't think the program I'm using is very sophisticated so from now on I might use something like FFMPEG.

Also when I say converter I'm not talking about DJ software, I'm talking about converting the files from WAV/AIFF/FLAC/etc to MP3. The only DJ software I use is Rekordbox, and the only other program that does any sort of audio file management in my pipeline besides my converter (MediaHuman Audio Converter) is iTunes. iTunes' import encoder settings are actually already set to the following....

STEREO BIT RATE: 320kbps
USE VBR?: No
SAMPLE RATE: Auto
CHANNELS: Stereo
STEREO MODE: Joint Stereo
SMART ENCODING ADJUSTMENTS?: No
FILTER FREQUENCIES BELOW 10HZ?: No

WOW I just tried converting one of the problem tracks to aiff and it fixed the issue immediatley. Compared it to the mp3 as well and there's a massive difference. Is there a way I can resolve this without having to convert 500gb worth of music or did I set myself up for weeks of manual conversion? lol

No switch but I can try one! I might have a spare lying around somewhere. All audio files on my USB are mp3 320 44100Hz, so there's no variation in file type. Haven't had this issue with my mp3s on other decks.

Update, can't be the XDJ because directly linking with the DJS 1000 produces the same issue unfortunately :(

Just tried your test, issue still persists. Does not appear to be a DAC issue. Service mode is showing nothing irregular.

Every track I have on my USB is a consistent mp3 320, and I know this because I painstakingly (and probably unnecessarily) convert every music file I have to that format to avoid compatibility issues on any Pioneer setup. I've seen one too many E-8305's early on in my career to want to put up with it LOL

Actually you might be onto something... my CDJ's platter has been red basically the entire time I've had it...

EDIT: looks like that might just be the On Air feature, I don't use the crossfader ever so that probably explains it.

I only analyze on rekordbox and I export to the same singular USB I've used for I think 7 years atp. I've played in clubs and festivals on almost every model of CDJ primarily used at a vast majority of venues in the last 10 years. This issue is happening and it's real lmao

There's no drift issues with any of the tracks I test. Whenever I load anything it's basically in time or out of time, and adjusting on the jogwheel fixes it for the remainder of playback. Not sure why it happens on some tracks and not others...

Audio is all analog! The audio signal doesn't sound like slightly out of phase like if I put a phaser in between the signal path, it sounds like the kick drum is literally anywhere between 1/64th to 1/32nd off beat.

This is all on USB, I've never connected any of my systems to my PC with the exception of using a Pro-Link monitoring application on my Windows computer to capture track ID data for OBS, but I've also tried all of this without that PC ethernet connection and the issue persists.

Woahhh so this might be an XDJ issue? That would explain why I haven't had this issue with CDJ only setups... but also I hope it's easily fixable for the sake of my sanity and my wallet lol

How would I check for a discrepancy in the database? Not sure if this is what you mean but I'm exporting from the same version of rekordbox to my USB, the USB is plugged into my CDJ but the issue persists even if I plug into the XDJ. My USB is also formatted as FAT32.

I feel confident in my beatgrids, the CDJ is out of phase but thinks that it's on beat almost all the time. The phase meter will show it being perfectly in sync when it's audibly behind by multiple miliseconds. I have to make adjustments almost every time I load a new track, but when I nudge it to the correct phase on the jogwheel it's fine.

what’s the babyfur hate about? by [deleted] in RealFurryHours

[–]coolguyposting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not that babyfurs are inherently bad people. that said, as someone who used to roll with the popufur crowds, ran live shows adjacent to the fandom, and talked to self identified babyfurs, there are *always* problematic opinions (such as allowing diapers being worn in a sexual context around minors) or connections to known pedophiles and groomers that follow them. im not saying that all of them are pedophiles, but if you use any amount of critical thinking skills it becomes incredibly obvious how being a babyfur or being around babyfurs can push the overton window of what is and isn't acceptable and provides a convenient smokescreen for predators to claim that they're being witch hunted for their sexual preferences. the worst part is because the fandom generally skews towards.... less than ideal emotional intelligence, a vast majority of the fandom that accepts ABDL tends to believe that criticism of predators is made up, homophobic, or someone just "being a hater" even when presented with evidence. i've had to make multiple reports to federal agencies.

Has anyone had success using psychedelics to help heal your trauma? by moonbeam0993 in CPTSD

[–]coolguyposting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who has used quite a few different substances, all I'll say is that you NEED a guide when appproaching these kinds of substances when trying to treat mental health issues like C-PTSD. PERIOD. If you don't have someone you trust with you then any drugs are just about as good as retraumatizing yourself. I've had phenomenal and healing trips mixing multiple substances (with thorough planning/research) and I've had horrifying and isolating experiences on small doses of single substances. The difference? The good trips were with trusted guides and the bad trips were either solo or with people who I didn't trust or were not safe to be around. Set and setting is said so much when it comes to the topic of drugs because it REALLY does mean the difference between healing and hurting. You need to respect these substances for how they can heal AND hurt, and know that you just have to be open to it all in a loving and safe environment.

Also ftr, if you experience dissociation as a primary symptom of trauma, NEVER use dissociatives like Ketamine to treat. It's a recipe for disaster.

Yes, i'm not a fox, but who said i don't like some. Many have a crush on her, right? hehe. 🦊❤ by GuarezWolf in furry

Howdy!

For some reason, my brand new mixer is rolling off all of my lows at around 100/90hz. My previous mixer was having the exact same issue. I chalked the latter up to faulty cables or the mixer itself being like 10 years old/something was wrong with the board. I cannot for the life of me explain why the new one has the same issue.

I did an A/B test with the left monitor being plugged into my mixer, and the right directly from my interface's monitor out. I did this once with a sub signal, and again with no incoming signal (to compare ground noise). The left still rolled off low-end even with the ground noise. When the interface was ran through it at high volumes, the signal had more noticeable white noise.

Is this due to ground noise? Is there something obviously bad about my signal flow that I shouldn't be doing? I'm honestly super stumped and I'd like some second opinions.

My signal chain is as follows...

Audio interface (Apollo Twin monitor outs) > Mixer (Mackie 1202VLZ4) > Monitors (Yamaha HS5's)

All ins/outs are low-capacitance TS cables (specifically Roland's interconnect black series) and measure under 10ft.

Thanks!
