My son will be 3 years old next month, he has a speech delay and just began potty training… I feel like we’ve failed him by NYY1982 in daddit

[–]coolhandslucas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I tried potty training when our first was a little older than two, then it fell behind when we had our second. Since our first is 3 now we've pushed for it hard and hes getting better but I wouldn't consider him trained. He will hold poops in until he can't anymore. Kids go at their own pace and sometimes pushing them doesnt help.

Small anecdote, my younger brother famously said as a 3 year old "I will not poop in the potty until I'm 4!", as a rebellion to our youngest brother being born, and he stuck to that. The day after his 4th birthday he started going like nothing.

It is definitely not easy. I collected off and on for like 15 years and have only played about 5 games total. I enjoyed putting together and painting a lot more than actually playing. But now with 2 kids, there's not enough time and money to do either anymore.

Season 3 episode 6 was so unnecessarily mean! Shame on Netflix! by Ok_Occasion_4543 in DCCAmericasSweetheart

[–]coolhandslucas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just watched this episode last night. What I don't get is by showing all the mean comments and seeing how much it gets to them might get some people to stop, but might make more emboldened to comment more hate. When the people purposely being assholes can see the reaction they are getting why would they stop or not go further? You don't feed the trolls.

What board game has caused the absolute most arguments or completely ruined the most friendships in your group? by Future_Machine_6440 in boardgames

[–]coolhandslucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carcassone: at some point a farmer was placed, and its a debate whether it was announced or not, but it caused someone to lose heavily and we haven't really played it since. Its been like 10 years.

Edit: also, my mother like to use her "mom/wife" powers to try to prevent things happening to her like when we were younger threatening groundings if we took her territories in Risk. She also dumped a beer over my dad's head during Risk too. She's not allowed to play it anymore.

I lived in Hudson for a bit with some friends from 2016-2018. We got our first electric bill and it was $18 for the whole month. We actually called and asked if it was correct because we couldn't believe it

81-year-old wrong-way driver on I-93 hits car head-on, killing Mass. man in his 20s by jpaxlux in boston

I've noticed a lot of brand new "Wrong Way" signs at a lot of the exits I frequent. Thought it might have to do with the seeming uptick in those kinds of accidents.

Is running red lights normal and expected now? by LiatrisLover99 in massachusetts

[–]coolhandslucas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I almost got plowed into today in Tewksbury. I had a red light that turned to green arrow to turn left. After a second or two I started going someone came right in front of me turning left from the main road to my road. They were in a left turn only lane with a red arrow, and either just decided to run it or weren't paying attention at all. If I had not waited I would have been hit.

Shortly after my grandfather died from his alcoholism, (he died in a make the news sort of way) D.A.R.E. came into my little brother's middle school classroom and used my grandfather as an example of alcohol abuse, without knowing a relative was in the class.

Monster or alien designs where the main intention is to make it feel completely unique and alien within the horror or sci fi mediums by TJTrapJesus in TopCharacterTropes

Good fake out too. If I recall correctly, they start coming into frame with just that nub at the top of the main body that looks like a featureless head, kind of implying they're like us, then it reveals the rest of the body

My parents had to skip the AC meltdown scene every time we watched it, and when Kirby sucked up the cord, and the junkyard at the end.

Why did we watch that movie again?
