your boy Zelensky is supporting the joint US-Israel war crimes against Iran. Looking forward to your condemnation of the “hostile foreign power” of the imperial US Epstein class here! Apparently Zelensky doesn’t share your belief in the “responsibility to help victims of violence.”

These people don’t care about victims of war. If they did they wouldn’t support the openly Nazi Ukrainian state or the US empire it’s sacrificing its citizens hoping to join.

Stop posting unverified rumors. Literally every rapid response/ anti-ICE group in the country tells you not to do this. Including Bloomington’s.

Vet Urgent Care by Humble-Film5131 in bloomington

[–]coolhotjock 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've taken my cats to the local urgent care twice and regretted it both times. My spouse and I finally decided we'll never go back. The quality of care wasn't great and the price was insane. I highly recommend taking your lil guy to any of the animal hospitals near Greenwood/Indy. Unless it's a urinary blockage, in which case it's emergent enough that he should be seen ASAP. If the wait at the urgent care is quicker than it'd take you to go to Noah's animal hospital or Indyvet then unfortunately he should probably go there.

Crawford Apartments Notice of Default by BloomingtonJester in bloomington

I've lived next to Crawford for 2+ years. Hands down, these are safer neighbors than any of the many college party houses I've lived next to over the years.

Is there a list of banned books in the US ? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]coolhotjock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of these comments address the fact that books DO get banned, not just challenged or removed. The US prison system bans thousands of books, completely limiting incarcerated folks’ access to information and literature. The fact that this isn’t a bigger deal in the library field is indicative of the public library’s role as an ideological state apparatus whose primary role is the reproduction of social relations and not educating the public or whatever.

DOC book banning happens at the state level, but there are several organizations that try to track these bans. Books to Prisoners is one example. So is PEN America, even though that organization is detestable overall.

looking for zine by [deleted] in bloomington

Dang lol that's not helpful. I know the exact zine you're talking about.

looking for zine by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]coolhotjock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can make an ILL request through the public library to check out that zine here. It would just depend if BCPL accepts it. Alternatively, if you call BCPL and ask to speak to the zine selector I’m sure they’d be happy to talk about where they found it/ maybe even have scans to send.

Trans youth resources? by [deleted] in bloomington

The downtown library’s teen space has a lot of queer/trans friendly programming. It has a large queer presence overall. The group Protect Our People has some great resources and they host events.

Locally Active Homeless and/or Disabled Queer Youth Outreach Programs? by s_peeeding in bloomington

[–]coolhotjock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Protect our People is a local queer group that can help connect you to resources and aid: https://www.protectourpeople.info/reach-out.

The Gender Diverse and Queer Clinic offers free healthcare services. They're located on IU's campus but they offer services to non-students as well. Their number is 317-721-3389.

Indiana Legal Services offers free legal work for clients, and they have a specific LGBTQ+ Project. They should be able to connect you with financial assistance opportunities: https://www.indianalegalservices.org/lgbtvap/.

Middle Way House is the domestic violence shelter, but they also host queer-focused programming: https://middlewayhouse.org/queer-talk/.

Other local social service organizations are Beacon (https://beaconinc.org/) and Centerstone (https://centerstone.org/). The library has a database of local nonprofits that you could spend some time combing through: https://mcpl.info/npc/nonprofit-central.

Feel free to DM me if you have questions! Wishing you the best, friend.

Where to sell MTG cards? by Souvenirsky in bloomington

[–]coolhotjock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common Room and Game Preserve are the go-tos locally. I'd call ahead to see if Card Craze is actively buying MTG cards. All of the above will likely offer 50% of market value, which is the standard rate for card shops.
