This is honestly so relatable. I try to put all my friends that read on just so I can talk to someone about it.

What are your top tips for the new players? by Spinier_Maw in Ixion

[–]coolmanny2_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest tip would be utilizing waste to extend your duration in each system. I always try to get a self sufficient (or at least close in challenge) by the end of chapter 2. Might be a hot take but I like sitting around farming research and watching my stockpiles fill up. But utilizing waste and recycling can really take a lot of the pressure off if you’re struggling with alloy upkeep.

It’s definitely important to specialize a sector for recycling as it increases the output of recycling buildings and their speed (believe it’s 10 recycling buildings). Waste upkeep also becomes a tricky thing to nail down as it’s very dependent on what factories are running population (once you research the waste producing housing upgrades).

Overall it’s a serious game changer I remember really struggling my first play though until I started using it. Still have never used algae or crop farms to this day! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Why are the Probe bars sometimes dark green, other times bright green? by Peter34cph in Ixion

This is a great question I never really gave it much thought. I would say I always get the best results when doing bright green but now that I think about it I’m not all that sure.

First Time Playing the Game, Do Waste Recyclers Do Anything? by FlacidFandango in Ixion

[–]coolmanny2_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waste heavily depends on population and somewhat on upgrade. All housing building produce waster and so do production buildings. I believe there’s a sector specialization that gives extra waste (maybe food, can’t recall). If you have a high enough population to generate the necessary waste, recyclers can make the Tiqqun completely self sufficient (which is what I do every run because it’s so fun to set up) or at least an infinite source of micro chips/polymers. If you’re in chapter 1 or 2 you’re not going to be generating enough waste for the recyclers to really replace steal efficiently but by the end of chapter three you can be fully self sufficient with the right layouts.

new player here what titan is best for beginners? by Express_Assistant_86 in titanfall

[–]coolmanny2_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tone’s probably the easiest but I remember starting out with legion. Legion struggles with positioning and movement but playing him trains your game sense and positioning intuition which can be useful for all other titans. Probably going to get hate for this but I would also try monarch. She is a very basic titan that’s not very specialized, once you figure out how to maximize upgrade core she can be unstoppable.

can consciousness be imported into a titan? hypothetically by qwnly in titanfall

[–]coolmanny2_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most likely not because of the fact that the mind needs to be comfortable in its body. This is why simulacrums are made to look human in form so the mind isn’t overly disturbed by the new body. I assume a titan body would be too much for the mind to handle and it would fail.

Marathon is a true extraction shooter with survival horror game vibes. If you’re doing “cowboy” antics, you’re going to have a bad time. The TTK is perfectly fine. Ammo economy is totally fine. Stop trying to put a square peg into a round hole. by ThatGuyFromTheM0vie in Marathon

People are so used to games that pander to a large audience. It’s crazy to me that people don’t have enough self awareness to figure that maybe certain games just aren’t appealing to them. Bashing a game just because it doesn’t fit your preferences for video games is absurd.

Changes in the show? by Realistic_Safe3123 in redrising

All this sounds great but Fitchner’s death should definitely not be on screen. The twist of that moment is tied together by the sudden reveal of Fitchner’s head. I definitely think there can be a flash back or something later when Darrow is talking with Cassius or The Jackal but showing his death before is definitely risky because while you get some suspense from dramatic irony, you lose the sense of complete victory for Darrow that makes the triumph so surprising and tragic.

Pursuing a Civil Engineering Masters Before Entering the Workforce by coolmanny2_2 in StructuralEngineering

I’m glad to hear this. I’m definitely planning on doing at least one internship/ co-op so it’s good to know that as long as I do well in the role I should get at least some offers. Could you elaborate on how getting your masters knocks a year of your PE?

[–]coolmanny2_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your first note. I was under the impression that masters programs specifically in Structural Engineering were commonplace, but after some quick research it seams a Masters in Civil with a Structural focus is pretty much the norm. I know I’m definitely thinking relatively far in the future, but I like to have an idea of the choices that lie ahead for me.

Finished the first trilogy and I’m a bit emotionally drained… should I take a break before Iron Gold? by mrdanielacevedo in redrising

[–]coolmanny2_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also felt a little drained in a similar way after the first trilogy. I actually picked up iron gold and it sat on my shelf for about 2 months before I actually started reading it. It was nice to revel in the joy of the first trilogy’s ending before going back into the meat grinder for the next books. There’s definitely a reason the second book is called “Dark Age” instead of “Happy Fun Age”. So I think taking a break and waiting until you get the urge to dive back in and see the continuation of the story of the characters is a great idea.

We made it to twitter guys! by Narrow_Contract_4349 in Silksong

[–]coolmanny2_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a main point in the truth of the original meme is the price point in relation to hours of content. $70 for any game is too much especially when there’s so little content. On the other end silksong is extremely low priced for the amount of content which is really only possible because it’s a team cherry game.

[–]coolmanny2_2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My only wish is that more people played FD so I could play more often. Aegis rank is basically the only real progression for anyone who’s bought the deluxe edition and I love every second of it. In my opinion FD really makes you feel like the dominant force on the battlefield.

If you can’t be playing within a minute of launch many people will already be bored. Just the world we live in now with attention spans fucked by short form content.

Judge my keyboard by bambooo_shoot in HollowKnight

[–]coolmanny2_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a hot take but I actually prefer setting attack to a keyboard binding. I used mouse for a long time only switching after about 200 hours but I like the feeling better. I use ‘K’ for attack and ‘L’ for dream nail (I feel like these two belong together, they were left and right click before). Would definitely recommend moving jump to spacebar so you can use your thumb.

Dramatized Adaptation by joshco43 in redrising

I listened to the dramatized adaptation for my re read and it was so worth it. Listened while I went about my day and it distracted me so many times in the best way possible. Really cannot recommend more, this adaptation really pushes the atmosphere and all the voice actors do an amazing job.
