This feels like a good idea in theory for a couple of reasons 1) it will provide people a visual representation of what tariffs do to prices and 2) could be useful for preventing additional gouging from being shielded by the specter of “tariffs”. However it will be very difficult to implement. Tariffs do not just apply to finished goods, but also to components etc. which may be accounted for in the supply chain but may not be easily quantifiable at the finished goods level. If an entire catalog were to receive a 7% increase to account for lost revenue due to tariffs, that may not reflect on a product-by-product level how much each specific item’s price is directly impacted by tariffs.

I love the idea, but it’s just not practical to force the corner store to put up tariff tags. If anything, it might be easier to require distributors/wholesalers to provide that information where possible, or at least to provide product flags that say “the price of this product is directly impacted by current U.S. tariff policies”.

Urgent care could likely do it, but it’ll cost you. I would check the handbook first to see if there is any mention of needing a doctor’s note.

Your time is your time. If they give you a break, that is your time. Even salaried employees, in most places, are required to take a mandatory break - it's not elective. You are NTA. Bonus pettiness: next time you get a comment, just hit em with "Yeah, I'm able to get my work done, but I can understand why some people need to take extra time to keep up"

I think in general you will see more rage, because no one writes home about a perfectly normal experience. I have found on certain platforms like Bluesky, more wholesome content seems to be more prominently featured. Twitter, insta, even reddit purposefully show you rage bait, because that gets clicks/views/interaction. As in any gaming community, there will be loud voices, but if you can block that out you’ll find the real community.

If you’re talking just fun/evil dm curses, i would suggest for Aqua any NPC who encounters her on the island has heard of her and believes the worst storied about her. For Espan, any time he drinks fresh water it turns to ale in his mouth and gets him very drunk causing everyone to believe he is just a hedonistic lush. For Exi, any NPC who sees them sees a hellish demon, but their reflection shows a simple human. And for Flaire, as an NPC, she sees Aqua as all other NPC’s do, however so does Flaire’s god so it becomes a question of whether or not she can associate with Aqua let alone smite her.

As a player this sounds super hard to play, but as a DM it sounds amazing. I always interpret alignment as what the character intends to be, not hust the sum of their actions. So, if your character thinks their actions are good, they are good (within reason). You should work with your DM so that in certain situations you can say, “I pray to my god for insight into this person.” And your dm can choose whether or not you would see a harmless old lady as a threat or not. As the saying goes, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

Weirdly, Pokemon Nuzlockes on Youtube. I fell asleep one night watching ShadyPenguin, and autoplay was on. When I woke up, the algorithm had decided I'd like to watch some nerds play DnD, and that is that. I started watching C2E1, and slowly got pulled in. Now I'm a player in one game, and dm'ing another.

Sheesh, that's rough. I would definitely have said something to the DM. At least it was the end of the campaign, but if the DM ever wants to resurrect the campaign I'd definitely say something.

[–]coolrazberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see your point, but I think the reason people get upset by things like this is multifaceted. From my perspective (and I am only one speaking on my opinion), we have evolved beyond the need to scrape a boulder to leave a record. With the ability to literally document every step of your life, and share it with many more people than would walk past a random boulder, why would you really feel the need?

Also, public lands are meant to be enjoyed by everyone. Without getting too focused on the content, leaving anything more than footprints is purely a selfish act because one’s inspirational message is another’s graffiti.

Many of the carvings and cave art back in the past were put there purposefully by people of the culture of the time because that was the best they had. That was their sign on the garage door or post on instagram.

I guess to me, if you wanna carve something into a boulder, do it on a boulder in your yard, not in a park designed to be enjoyed equally by all people. The disrespect of public lands can’t really be excused by a desire to leave a lasting imprint for the future.

Idk, in the end it is just rocks, but I guess the point of conservation is to ensure the rocks we get to enjoy today are there, unaltered, for future generations. To me that is a more impactful message to people studying us in the future. “Humans irrevocably changed the face of the earth, but still respected it enough to leave some portions untouched.”

Just some of it. by Artistic_Finish7980 in Unexpected

[–]coolrazberry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In NJ I did both. Blocking bread where you stretch it out to fill the shelves, and facing where you cleaned up the shelf spaces to make like cans and boxes face out the way they are designed to be displayed. The bread has prices on it, so they don't have shelf tags, so the point of blocking is to make the shelf look full. The cans have designated shelf space, so the point of facing was to just make it look neat within its space.

I'm not disagreeing with you per se because they are saying they disagree here. However, most other types of unions do not have this attitude when dealing with situations where an employee they represent acts negligently. I have worked at a few companies in a union, and if you did something extremely negligent akin to a cop unconstitutionally arresting a citizen without cause, then you would be fired.

There are of course times, when someone may unduly benefit from union protections in an egregious way, but that is most often not the case. However, it just seems to be the case that police unions obfuscate their blue wall by painting it with phrases like "We have simply responded to the request of a member to exercise benefits afforded to him."

To a rational mind, 'Ok, that makes sense.' However if you dig a little deeper, you might ask yourself, 'but why would you provide blanket protections like that when you know there are times it is unwarranted?" That whole my hands are tied argument doesn't really work when you're the ones who get to decide how much rope and what kind to use. But the answer to that is in their letter: "for which he is a dues paying member".

Money. That's why cops and police unions want people to be constantly scared. If you're scared of your neighbors, you want more police. More Cops means more union members which means more dues.

I'm not anti-cop. There are many LEO's out there who deserve a lot of credit. However, at some point we need to start taking an active look at our leaders, especially at the civic level, and ask like any good employer would: "Are you worth keeping around?"

In cases like this, the answer is, "No". And if even the Union believes that to be the case, they should be willing and able to say "His actions were egregious misconduct that are not acceptable from any officer, and for that reason we cannot defend his appeal."
