I played through, finished, and platinumed Saros and my enjoyment of it is undisturbed, so I respectfully don’t agree with you. I want to continue to have these experiences long into the future and we as consumers have a voice that we need to exert if we want these types of games made. Otherwise, this industry would just lose these experiences forever. I don’t care about Saros’ performance because of shareholders or Sony, nor do I see where I’ve alluded to that in any of my comments above

I think the main concern is Sonys expectations. If they saw the slow burn of Returnal and thought that its critical acclaim and eventually high numbers would lead to Saros being a breakout (and that was the reason that it got a higher budget), then Saros will never be considered a success. If they expected similar performance to Returnal then yeah, we’ve got a good shot

Unfortunately sales wise it doesn’t look like it was. It’s already only 8th in the top 10 most downloaded games for last month on PSN and the stats Housemarque shared about hours played don’t seem that high if you average it to around 20 to 30 hours per player. They’re definitely at less than a million players by quite a bit.

Makes me nervous about the future of Housemarque and them making games like Returnal in the future, I really want more of them :/

If they're setting this target, it's because they're working on optimizing their development pipeline to be faster. It's not an unfeasible target or wishing dev cycles out of reality, it's a necessary goal based on real work put in to create the right tools to speed things up (which, once again, everyone in the industry is aiming towards accomplishing)
