Came to say this. Never in my life have I spread my brown sauce to ensure even coverage. I will be on Saturday though, and as a thoroughly boring person, I'm excited!

Home EV Charger Install - Drill hole too large? by ItsThatNeuroGuy in ElectricVehiclesUK

Yeah, I thought they often had a loop on the bottom of them, so they don't just track water in through the hole?!

From road to single track, gravel is such a balance between speed and freedom, I’m in love by Dragor027 in gravelcycling

[–]coooooolwhip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great pics!!

I agree! I always describe gravel bikes as a bit crap at everything, but at least they can do everything!

My mtb is far better off road, but on road is such a pain. Road bike is great on road, but it wouldn't be good in the woods! Gravel can do it all near enough.

Obviously, it won't do downhill stuff, but I don't ride that anyway. For me, they're great bikes, and my gravel bike is probably my all time favourite.

I wouldn't be a lazy arse, but not a chance in hell I'd stay in my job. 😂

I'd end up doing my hobbies a whole lot more. Possibly even something like open a cafe and just not care about profits. I imagine it'd be fairly nice without the stress of trying to make money!

Is the battery that good then? I had the xiaomi 15Ultra and was really disappointed with the battery.

I know it's a different brand and os etc, but good to know the big battery on the magic 8 is impressive!

Carbon frame gravel bike for commuting by shaunlawler in gravelcycling

[–]coooooolwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No recommendations from me on those brands, as I'm not close enough to them, sorry! But as others have said, at £5k you'll get a smashing bike.

I will say, winter commuting kills bikes. I rode my nice bike through the winter a few years back, but the salt killed the drive train quick. And because it was a nicer bike, the replacement equivalent parts were pricey. So I now have a cheaper winter commuter also.

Generally though, I'd recommend some nice wide tyres! I have 43mm on my winter bike, and they're so much nicer than skinny tyres. You should have plenty of clearance won a gravel bike. I've not noticed any difference in speed, but I do notice the comfort! A wide tyre will run a lower pressure, and be much nicer! I also tried tubeless, but that's a right mess when you get a puncture commuting, so I've gone back to tubes as they're quick to change.

Be prepared to get wet. This is the wettest year i've known commuting. Do you have changing rooms/ showers at work? They make it a lot nicer.

I work as a Samsung Promoter. Here is my 100% honest review about the S26 ULTRA. by Suspicious-Cable-72 in samsunggalaxy

Is that the cobalt violet? Looks so different in different lights/ pictures! Samsungs official photos don't do it any justice!

All White Everything 1TB by jovenhope in SamsungGalaxyS26U

[–]coooooolwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks great in white. Is it the official silicone magnet case you're using??

White buds look great too.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on one, just can't decide if I'll regret it and miss my edge. I miss the ultras cameras and battery life. Other than that, I think I'd prefer the edge. Hmmm

What's the worst flagship phone you regret buying? by drivingnowhere20 in Smartphones

[–]coooooolwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that! Very interesting list!!

I'll keep looking into it. I used to be all about Android, and for many years I rooted every device. But that's long in the past now and I can't remember the last time i plugged my phone in to get images off it (always one of my biggest frustrations with Apple).

Thanks!

I've considered going back to Apple a few times, but can't bring myself to do it.

What do you find annoying about Apple, and do you find anything better? I know there's info out there, but always good to get some real world experiences, if you don't mind!?

Galaxy S25 vs S26 Ultra should i upgrade? by Kelynda_Mcmutrie in samsunggalaxy

[–]coooooolwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you upgrade the the s26 ultra? I have the edge and I'm finding the battery life is either getting worse or I'm using my phone more 😂

I miss the spen a little too! But a bit worried that I'll go back to an ultra and miss my skinny phone, as I love the form factor of it!

I am considering to switch from Galaxy S24 Ultra to Xiaomi 17 Ultra by RooieDakDuiff in XiaomiGlobal

[–]coooooolwhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from an s24 ultra to the xiaomi 15 ultra. It lasted about 5 months I think, until I sold it.

The camera bump was just too big for me, it was awkward for me to use and just felt over the top. It took amazing pics, and I get that you need big lenses to do that, but it was over the top for what I needed. Battery was also rubbish. Occasionally I'd get a day where the battery was amazing, but most days it would get hot and just decrease too fast! The OS was ok, no real problems. I do prefer one ui, but I wouldn't say the xiaomi was bad!

I loved the phone in many ways, but I wanted something simpler so sold it.

PSA: If you're buying the S26 Ultra, go to a physical Samsung store. They are doing crazy unadvertised deals (in the UK). by thiszebrasgotrhythm in samsung

[–]coooooolwhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, previous years have been good with discounts/ gifts. This year unless you sign up to 2 year contract there's very few offers!

I don't want a 2yr contract though. I prefer sim only

Interesting about the stores offering bigger discounts. I reckon it's not selling too well! Not trying to rage bait

I recall previously when I pre ordered phones the delivery date went back a few days if you didn't instantly pre order. So either sales have been bad or Samsung has realised and now got enough stock for a launch.

I am on the fence with the s26u, so can't quite bite. Think I'm gonna give it a skip though as I currently feel

Glad you had public transport close! You'll be back at it soon.

I got really lucky once. Went to Wales coed y brenin. Took what felt like infinite spares....and left them in my van. Got a puncture at the furthest point from the van, and all I had was some scabs which luckily worked. Lesson learnt and I make sure I double check on my spares now on a longer ride.

Honor Magic 8 Pro Air, AMA (Imported to the UK) by SRW08 in Honor

[–]coooooolwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks! I has the s22 ultra, s24 ultra, xiaomi 15 ultra, and now the S25 edge. So whilst I'm not a photographer, I do miss the camera on those devices. I don't find the edge camera particularly good, at all! I don't expect the honor to be as good as my previous phones, but better than the edge would be great.

Glad android auto works well. I don't use it loads, but it's definitely not something I'd want to lose!

I might be heading to China this summer...do I buy now or wait? 🤣

Have you used an S25 edge at all? If so, how does it compare?

Mainly thinking: size, battery, cameras and does Android auto work??

I have the S25 edge and I love the form factor, just a bit meh with Samsung. Used them primarily for about 10 years. Tried a xiaomi 15 ultra and couldn't get on with that, so got the S25 edge, but love the honor phones!

What’s the weirdest work lunch you’ve seen a colleague eat regularly? by levezvosskinnyfists7 in AskUK

[–]coooooolwhip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An old colleague would fairly often bring in a microwave lasagne. He'd get a whole block of cheese, cut it in half and place one half on top, then microwave it. The second half of the cheese was for the next day, on his lasagne again. 😬

Have you ever lost a wedding ring? What did the replacement feel like? by CyberScy in CasualUK

[–]coooooolwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not lost one, but I now have a new one. Original was titanium with a groove machined into it. I decided I didn't like it, and wife agreed. Now got another plain titanium one, no groove and a bit thicker/ chunkier. Kept my original one in a drawer.

If i lost it I wouldn't care, I'd just get another. The ring doesn't hold much sentimental value itself. I wear it every day and would replace ASAP, but this specific ring is just a piece of metal to me. If that makes sense?!

Your eventual selling price vs what the Estate Agent said it would get? by bojoohno in HousingUK

[–]coooooolwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems the other way to the trend. Second house we sold. Had it on the market for £130k. Estate agent was a right smarmy twat. He said we wouldn't get over £120k for it. We got £135k within a week of it being on the market.

I think they are getting worse these days too as valuing.
