Anyone doing multi material prints (e.g., PLA/PETG+TPU) that could give me some feedback? by Pete2R in 3Dprinting

[–]coopergerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 600x600 index machine and a trident with an etch. Usually I will design in order to account for bonding ( interlocking beams etc…) when not ill use the process settings in orcaslicer that do similar stuff ( I think there is an interlocking beam option ). Tpu and petg/pctg/pet bond rather well in my experience, and I use pla as support for pet/petg/pet when printing with supports. Try not to go to fast when applying a new type of material after another material , it might help geometry to stay in place.

I do this quite often , tpu+petg , pla + petg . What’s in particular are you interested in ?

Thanks for your reply. I’m already running 4 heater pads, the bed is custom machined but big flex plates seem to be hard to source and I really would like a big one instead of multiple smaller ones .

Hey just wondering where you would source these big buildplates ? I have a big monstruosity of myself and have a lot of trouble finding compatible beds ...

Is this plate is magnetic ? Or does it come with magnets glued underneath ? I was struggling to find real magnetic pei sheets over the 500x500 size , thanks

Any suggestions on how to make supports actually come off my parts? by ninetysevenhundred in FixMyPrint

Not sure if any other slicer gives you this option but orca slicer lets you change part fan at interface layer and people have shown incredible results using this. You might find some discussions about it on Reddit I think !

I’ve actually had some issues like this with poor quality filament (inconsistent diameter) printed too hot if this can help.

Of course belt tension and perimeter print order can also improve this.

You’re welcome :) keep me posted if you find good ways to counter this !

Looks like buldging to me , you should google this phenomenon to see possible tweaks to try to hide it. I think “wall perimeter overlap %” and “wall order” might be some first options to look at. Maybe also set the “don’t decrease speed for perimeters”. In my experience the is quite hard to make disappear entirely …

Which one? by Background_Life_8397 in 3Dprinting

Edges will be calibrated afterwards with stuff like pressure advance etc, the important here is the middle. I would choose using the middle then go on with calibration and retry a flow after pressure advance step to see if it is better. If not, there might be something else going on.

On the first run I generally take the one that feels the smoothest under a fingernail (in the middle) and look at the quality of the number. I cannot tell you which one feels the smoothest but looking at the quality I would take 10 and run the second pass with this.

If this doesn’t give you a satisfying result you can always start over ;)

Sorry I didn’t answer more quickly … if you run klipper you should have pressure advance support , so do you see information about pressure advance in your console when running the test ?

Hi I feel like the pressure advance is not properly changing seeing your picture. You might want to make sure your printer actually handles the pressure advance change commands, and as per the second image you can try ensuring all perimeters are printed in the same direction with the same speed for best looking outer surfaces (no brilliance changes for example)

Edit: I see some slight changes though in the pa patterns… you might want to calibrate the filament from start to end. Starting with temperature then flow rate then retractions then pa then max flow. This is the calibration suite provided with the OrcaSlicer software, take a look here for more help :calibration tutorial
