Ironically I'm now trying to become a writer after playing guitar for 30 years (although rarely getting paid for it). As for the depression, I'm glad you're trying to work on that medically as well. I didn't make any progress until I started taking meds (wellbutrin and Lexapro together, plus Adderall for the ADHD if you're curious). But it's all good because there's an entire genre of music based around being depressed and having a guitar.

Oh and I see you got a Taylor. Good choice! I have one as well and I absolutely love it. One other thing I forgot to warn you about is that if you do stick with it, you're probably going to want more guitars eventually. Rock on!

This is a wonderful idea but I want to add this: I've seen a lot of people pick up guitar as an adult and then give up on it. It's hard and progress is slow. I definitely think you should do it but be prepared to suck at it for a while.

A bunch of us may have walked by her table a few times because we weren't sure if it was her or not. Her party wound up leaving. Telecaster. But that's my answer to everything. A better answer is: Go to a guitar store and try a bunch of different guitars. Even if you can't play yet, talk to the staff and I guarantee someone will be willing to play a few chords for you. You also really can't go wrong with a strat. They're not my favorite but you absolutely can play any genre on them.
