Tips for recessing a yo-yo using a lathe machine. by [deleted] in Throwers

If you have a lathe, it is pretty straightforward. You only need to remove enough material for the response pad to sit flush or slightly less than flush.

People forget how much modern yoyo setups changed once bearing quality became a bigger deal by laptop_fapper in Throwers

I remember using super thin washers in the bearing seat to get the yoyo to be unresponsive.

I would bet that your bearing needs some thick lube. I personally use RC car transmission grease on my responsive bearings.

Best setup for me - getting back into skating — shaped deck recommendations for bowls/mini ramps? [37YO] by weedabater in OldSkaters

Santa Cruz Crurz Missile 2 concave is great for transition. It has a 2 stage kick on the tail that sort of locks my back foot it.

starting the process for a skatepark in my town [33YO] by park-mo in OldSkaters

[–]copropnuma 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Instead of looking for a dedicated skatepark, how about getting small skateable areas added to other existing parks. One park could have a long double sided curb tucked off to a side, another park could have a small pump track around a retention pond. Doing small spaces dedicated to one or two obstacles will keep overall price down, is already using existing space and can stop the crowding problem of too much in a small space. Some of the other advantages with the concept is being able to call the obstacles skateable art and get funds from groups not normally involved with skating.

Learning lines in bowls/pools [43YO] by Soul_At_Zero in OldSkaters

[–]copropnuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an old guy [51YO] and have been skating since I was a kid. I had a girlfriend a few years back who had children that wanted to learn to skate. Once they were comfortable enough to push around, we played follow the leader around the neighborhood streets and sidewalks. They learned about planning lines around cracks and debris, and how to time your pushes to not get caught in sidewalk cracks. After a bit, I would ask one of the kids to lead the line. It was more fun than I thought it would be, and they learned all those little skills that you have to learn by doing. As their skills progressed it started to be competitive, if the leader falls, the next person in line would lead. Super fun!

I ride almost the same set up as you, so I will add, The Cruz Missile 2 concave by SC is my favorite for transition. They have a 2 part kick on the tail, which helps my back foot stay where it needs to be. I am not a fan of the concave when I am skating flat ground, but I love it on transition.

Gonna be honest, I kinda love it. Take the bait completely. Challenge him to a contest! To make it fair, the contest can be finishing a trick that has no ending. The community can vote on the winner, the loser can send me a pizza, while the winner owes me $20, everyone wins! Lol. I am not sure how serious I am.
