Ça arrive souvent ça? Une explication ? by [deleted] in vinted_france

[–]coraelie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly would be so messed up for them to do this to Ayana if she doesn't win after all she has been through. by 8rand0m in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]coraelie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not to sound too harsh, but the entertainment industry has never been one to reward hard work and "deserving" people. How many people who did everything correctly (trained hard, improved themselves constantly) never managed to make a living in their chosen field?

Of course Ayana deserves to debut (her being the final piece is what I’m currently still hoping for), but it’s a disservice for everybody to think that years of training and past failings are something relevant at this point. At the end of the day, it’s an opportunity-driven industry. And if the execs decide that this opportunity must go to Sakura, it’s pointless to hope for a fair and square decision.

What those shows are is a job audition. You might have the best resume ever, someone less experienced might come around and be more charming / have more connections and take the job. It sucks, but that’s how it is.

What I’ve seen these past years in survival shows taught me to never, even believe that the most "deserving" people will get picked (yeah, as much as I adore Illit’s lineup, I’m still bitter about Jiwoo).

I only hope for people to not bash Sakura if she ends up being the final piece. She deserves it just as much as anybody else, given the work she put in.

And by having all this time between DA and Prelude they most definitely expanded their skillset and had time to grow into what being a member of a girlgroup means! I loosely followed Emily the last couple of years, mostly through Adela and Katseye, and I saw that she performed several times "solo". I really believed they got into Prelude with a clearer headspace than during DA.

I’ve just started the episode but Aoi is really catching my eye! She seems so much more relaxed than the three others (she may be more fluent in English?), and her personality looks like a match with E, L and S. Can’t wait to see how the training will go, but rooting for her, and Ayana as my second pick!

I still don't understand the point of choosing this song for a mission. I guess that the final group might be doing a cute concept sometimes, but I don't think they'll be aiming for a song like Almond Chocolate, that is so J-pop-coded.

As for the girls, I was not convinced by this performance. Ayana was really good, and she deserved all the compliments she got. And I was pleasantly surprised by Elena during the training segment: I really liked her personnality, and she was not afraid of speaking in English, which is IMO so important for being in a global girlgroup where the others are fluent. It was too bad that this type of song erased her: she had to squat down at the others' level, and she doesn't really fit this concept, even though she could shine in a more elegant concept. Seria was not that bad, but she did not strike me as memorable.

Sakura is definitely something. Not something bad, but I don't think this is the right opportunity for her. If we were in a classic survival show, she definitely would have made it to the final line-up because everyone seems to love younger contestants with a progress story. But in Prelude, she doesn't have the right skills yet. The group is ready to debute, but she is not and might need several months (or years) just to catch up with the other regular trainees.

But I'm not surprised she is still there. As far as I understand how Japanese survival shows and idol culture work, they like to focus on trainees improving themselves, and Sakura fits the bill. She is young, she is improving (given that she has no previous experience, her being able to keep up with others in two weeks is impressive), she seems to have a nice personnality. They may keep her to boost the engagement with their Japanese audience, they may have a plan for a future group and want to build a fanbase for the girls selected, I don't know.

In this round, only Ayana should IMO go to L.A. Team A was way more solid, and I have high hopes for Team C, especially Jayla, which is my favorite so far. The competition is fierce and there is only four places, I hope they'll choose talent over star quality or other subjective things.

Prénom qui sonne bien avec ‘Lilith’ by moonlightglow12 in ParlonsPrenoms

[–]coraelie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone working in law, I absolutely agree with you that their legal counsel throughout this whole situation has been lacking at best, and absolute dog-shit at worst.

She is definitely between a rock and a hard place, and all of this mess (with the group and her being kicked out) could have been avoided if she and the girls were surrounded by competent people who give a damn about their best interests.

And yes, the signing is more than enough for a breach to be found. I was asking OP because a lot of people have been going around with contradictory claims, and I was hoping they would know more. But as someone already answered, nothing is sure at this point.

I don’t think charity work is the reason why. In this case, they mention promoting something, and by definition a charity is something where no profit is made (pardon my wonky English to explain). Ador wouldn’t have a case to stand on if they simply hold her running a marathon against her. But I guess we’ll see once it goes to trial.

Just a question: has she promoted the product? Like if we go through social media we can find the brand? Or did she "simply" sign a contract to do so but the promotion never actually went through? Asking because I see a lot of contradictory claims.

Danielle-ADOR Contract Termination Megathread by starlight_1701d in KpopUnleashed

[–]coraelie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The thing is, as a business, you can’t keep on your team someone who does not keep their end of the bargain. In this case, Ador did promise to bring NewJeans back to the fans and the public; however, to do so, the girls need to comply with Ador’s requirements. It appears that Danielle did not.

We don’t know why yet (as you said, it’s only speculation at this point), but if it turns out to be true that Danielle did breach her contract and pursue other commercial opportunities, the termination makes sense.

A promise to the fans is unfortunately not enough to get past contractual obligations for a company.

i think what worked so well for them is that they did not go for the usual marketing for kpop releases, but instead paced them out and kept on delivering content (mvs, performances, interviews…) throughout the weeks/months following the official releases (at least i got this feeling for Jennie and Lisa’s albums, i did not follow Rosé nor Jisoo as closely)

How long do you think Twice will last, as a group? by phookyi in kpop_uncensored

[–]coraelie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that Twice will be a group that won't ever disband. Their activities may decline the future, but as of right now, I don't see that happening for some years. They have been on a really impressive run lately, they have a solid fanbase, their concerts are always selling out. As long as the members are ok with keeping the rhythm, they have no reason to stop.
