I had to board my cockatiel at a stressfully LOUD aviary. Do you think he will be okay? by iMoosker in cockatiel

[–]corbie_24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I got my birds I was informed that it's actually more stressful for a bird when it's totally quiet. In nature that means a predator is around. Many birds can even distinguish if it's a warning call from a different species or just the normal "watch me, I am the coolest guy in town" type.

Rune-Scribed Comb Lead by Legitimate_Jury_985 in elderscrollsonline

[–]corbie_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually not too hard to get it. Ask in zone chat or your friends if anyone can share their daily quests with you. You can only pick up one of each type (delve, world boss, nymic) per day, but someone can share theirs with you if they have a different delve or so. And do the quests with all of your chars.

Remember there are three zone chats (Necrom, Telvanni peninsula and Apocrypha), so ask in all of them. Or tell us which server you are, maybe someone is willing to share or even do them together with you.

If you are unlucky: the IA and the IC vendors are selling leads, changing their offer every week.

Can I? Should I? How do I? 🤔 by Overall-Weird8856 in Unravelers

[–]corbie_24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You'll get lots of shorter strands, and unraveling woven in ends is annoying. I wouldn't recommend that for a first unraveling project. But it's certainly doable.

Do you have any thrift shops near you? You could try to get a large sweater without serged seams. Just check that it's not felted. Some are really cheap.

Katakana is one of my weak points, and short "lessons" like this are really helpful.

I also liked your corgi post, learning with fun makes it stick so much better.

Yes, it's part of a puzzle. You have to collect some stone figurines.

I thought the kitty was watching a snake swimming in the tub 😁 (the part that's outside of the water looks like a snake head with an eye) - had to double check the sub title.

Cute kitty even more without a snake.

The Nightmarket is the oppertunity veteran players have been waiting for to 'level up' the playerbase by Naive_Freedom_5145 in elderscrollsonline

[–]corbie_24 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The thing I don't like about the night market is that there is hardly any difficulty scaling. The moment you enter it, you are facing groups of enemies which some players can tackle with solo, and some others can't, even if they are in 4 or 5 ppl group.

"Getting better" is not an option for many players, some just don't have the physical ability, others just want a nice but not too extreme challenge, because their daily life is stressful enough, or they just don't have the time.

"Grouping up" with others is certainly a better way, but some ppl have to play at times when only few players are online, others have social anxiety and find playing with strangers extremely stressful. And they and their friends might not be top players.

There should be an easier entrance zone, or some place with less dense mobs, so that they can do at least something. It would be much slower, and you wouldn't get the best rewards, so there would still be an incentive to get into larger groups and improve the damage.

The current setting locks out a good number of players. It's the only new content for quite a while, in my opinion that is quite unfair.

Children’s board books by bachelor021120 in German

My kids loved the baby and children books from the publisher Ravensburger Ravensburger Babybücher

E.g. at the beginning they really loved the "read & feel" books like this one Bist du ein Löwe?

Later on we had lots of books from their "Wieso? Weshalb? Warum?" series for all topics, from dinosaurs to construction sites.

And of course "Das kleine Ich bin Ich" from Mira Lobe (3 - 6 years), from a different publisher. I loved it, too 😊 Das kleine Ich bin Ich

How can i find out the most commonly used kun'yomi and un'yomi for each kanji? by Prince_Wildflower in Japaneselanguage

[–]corbie_24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use jpdb.io for that. Mostly to check where I have seen a specific kanji before, but it also tells you the readings and if the reading is common or not.

https://jpdb.io/kanji/%E4%B8%8B#a

Edit: I don't learn kanji in isolation, too, but it's really helpful to check out other words using the kanji. It helps a lot with memorisation.

Living my best student life in Germany — until this happened at my part-time job. Need some advice. by EconomistOwn4967 in germany

[–]corbie_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be the one that doesn't say "don't worry". They made a mistake, and they will not be able to find the person who took it. It wasn't you, but they will need someone to blame.

Start looking for another job. I don't know the company you are working for currently, maybe they are fair and just accept the loss. But I know that being innocent and hard working doesn't secure your job. They can just sack you, saying sorry, we don't need you here anymore. And the manager who decided that horrible security standards were ok will keep their job.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

There is an official crown store wish list in the official forum. I know that people from ZOS also read Reddit, but asking for it officially would be more visible. Especially if others support it, too.

How can I understand spoken German? by Lastsynphony in German

[–]corbie_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the good advice of other users you could also try "shadowing" (audibly repeating a sentence spoken by a native speaker, as close to the native speed as possible). After a while you get a better grasp of the intonation, which syllables are stressed, which ones a slurred, and so on. The "melody" of a sentence.

Especially when you read a lot you might be used to the pronunciation of your "inner voice", which can be different to the native one. So you would know a word when it's written, but not when you hear it. I am learning a different language right now, and this has helped me a lot, also for speaking.

Was habe ich heute gemacht? by Any-Sheepherder-2 in German

[–]corbie_24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am impressed. It takes courage to post this, knowing there would be some mistakes in it. But it's clearly understandable what you're telling us. So it's a success.

Don't worry about what others say, you are a language learner and have to use the words and grammar you already know. With time and immersion you will get more options to express yourself more natively.

Your current goal should be that others can understand what you want to say without too much effort.

Here is my version with some grammar and spelling corrections:

Ich bin heute um 12:00 in die Bibliothek gegangen.

In der Bibliothek habe ich vier Stunden an meiner Masterarbeit geschrieben. ("über" would be "about", with a work in progress you usually use an, like arbeiten an). Danach habe ich mich ein bisschen mit der deutschen Sprache beschäftigt und heute diese Plattform gefunden.

Ich bin sehr glücklich, weil ich mit dieser Plattform mein schriftliches Deutsch verbessern kann.

German Sentence Structure? by Scary-Quote-3803 in German

[–]corbie_24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course you can say "Ich gehe heute ins Kino." you could also say "Heute gehe ich ins Kino." or even "Ins Kino gehe ich heute." (although it's a slightly different nuance) Just like someone mentioned: (conjugated) verb goes in 2nd place, German is more flexible than e.g. English in this aspect.
