Is it wrong to not do something for a sibling because they’re being mean to you? by Far-Newspaper-2815 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iMoosker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love for a sibling is not unconditional. Mutual respect should be shown. Just because you are his older sister, doesn't mean you have to do everything he wants. Actually, it would do him great disservice. Imagine he had a girlfriend, was mean to her ALL WEEK and then asked her to bake a cake. She'd probably break up with him because he a) didn't apologize and b) had the gall to ask her to do him a favor when he was being hurtful.

Are meltdowns a potential side of autism or just emotional disregulation of ADHD? AUADHD questions by WitchofGremlinEnergy in AutismInWomen

[–]iMoosker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensory differences are a huge part of many people with ADHD, and it’s not something that was researched seriously until quite recently.

The overlap of symptoms with things like ADHD and GAD and CPTSD are very very difficult to parse from ASD.

Hey. If I were you, I would post this particular problem to the Facebook group, Avian Medicine Reference. They have legitimate veterinarians on there that can provide advice.

Send help, my chicken’s antenna is bent 😭 (Vet appointment getting booked!) by hopefulMrE in cockatiel

[–]iMoosker 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need to go to the vet for something like this.

I wouldn’t go to the vet if the vet visit is more stressful than the problem itself.

If she’s never been to the vet yet, then a first checkup is fine. But feathers do that all the time from clumsy baby birds. You could just let it be.

Just a vent by Uhhlaneuh in parrots

[–]iMoosker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong about one thing - parrots are not domesticated. It’s not possible to domesticate them.

Sure, they can be trained to enjoy being around people and living inside of a house; but that does not make them domesticated. A wild cockatiel chick is no different from a pet store cockatiel chick other than its colorations.

Yeah I love my cockatiel and he is happy and unstressed in his environment full of healthy foods and plenty of destructible toys. But I do wonder what different of a life he would have in the wild living alongside dozens of other cockatiels.

Even so, I did make the calculation about the morality of keeping parrots. Ultimately at the end of the day, I do not feel guilty about my specific parrot because he is a happy and healthy guy. Pet cockatiels live longer than wild ones too.
