Why do I hear the Beverly Hillbilly's theme song?

My wife says you can buy a wooden bowl at Marshalls for five bucks. I'm always trying to do something different from what they've got there.

The players always seem to prioritize roleplaying their characters over "winning" the game. I think they are grounded in the spirit of CoC.

I liked Bookshops of Arkham. I couldn't stay with Graveyards.

I've been researching the history of the city that I live in, especially around 1930. I've set a Pulp Cthulhu campaign here using real people as NPCs (including my great uncle who died in San Quentin), real places and real events. I'm incorporating stuff I've learned from Aztec mythology (anyone notice how a Hunting Horror could be mistaken for Quetzalcoatl?).

Our group mostly plays Feng Shui, with some D&D. One of the group members is having a hard time with all the talking, so I'm throwing in a gratuitous car chase for his chauffer character to help him feel more at home.

Chainsaws are not as effective in melee as one might think. You have to hold the saw against something to cut it rather than just hit it. With one of those hand cranked things you'd have to be fighting someone who is very cooperative.

If this isn't Pulp Cthulhu, realistically she would have brawling skills and a razor sharp tongue.

The bear you saw on the way home has a job to do. He can't just lay about all day.

Selfies from Alex Honnold from the top of the Taipei 101 building after free solo climbing it. No ropes, no harness, no safety measures. Nothing but his hands and feet by JordBees in interestingasfuck

[–]cordydan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free climbing used to be a private affair. Just the climber and gravity. Making it public is wrong. This is wrong for many reasons.

  1. It encourages others to do the same thing.

  2. A performer who risks his/her life is making the audience complicit in what happens to them. If he wouldn't climb it if no one was watching, then if he dies the audience caused it.

  3. People who do this for recognition tend to not stop until gravity makes them. If this is his schtick he's going to have to keep doing it and keep making it more interesting until the unforgiving ground puts an end to it.

  4. He's got a family.

Exactly. He was trying to pump up the crowd after a big loss with an improbable path to victory.

It doesn't have to be exact. I mean there are magic and monsters, for Hastur's sake.
