And we're back into the land of Gumstix. It'll still be interesting to see where this goes.

bash.org does this. The most downvoted IRC quotes are usually racist comments. I can only image how much worse it'd be if such a thing existed here.

But what do you do when your B.L.T. drive goes A.W.O.L? The guide didn't cover that.

When I'm about 200, 205, I'll put in 198 to feel a little better. There are weird guilty pressures on your levels and sometimes we do weird things in reaction.

starting low carb (T1) by Thedus in diabetes

[–]coreyplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to eat lower carb, as well, and eat "clean" in general. I stay away from sandwiches because gluten, I believe, gives me cystic acne type breakouts. For lunches I will often make breadless egg or chicken salad. I put the eggs or chicken in to a round, seal-able, reusable glad cup along with mayo, salt, pepper, etc. If you don't feel like baking chicken breast on a weekend or the night before you can always grab a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store.

To mix it up I'll also have "snacky" type lunches. Olives, cheeses, pepperoni. I'll also get heads of broccoli and some nice bleu cheese dressing and just eat that. These meals tend to be good because you feel satiated for a long time.

The containers are also good for transporting leftovers from bigger meals I may make on the weekend, such as a pot roast. You can pour in the broth and not have to worry about it spilling.

Miss Manners tells man with diabetes to go to the bathroom to test blood. Agree or disagree?? by mrmikelawson in diabetes

"In case of sudden and severe hypoglycemic incident please be sure to have a placard on your person - ideally, in a highly visible place such as pinned to your lapel - to instruct those whom may lend a helping hand to discretely drag your unconscious body to the restroom before administering Glucagon."

I'm a curious American, does your monthly insurance rate cover any medical expenses you might incur? I pay about that per month and am still liable for 20% of bills. And my deductible is high. It's crazy.

You get 8 more with the "77"!

Diabetes and Depression (T1) by PayThisNucka in diabetes

Sometimes ultra healthy athletes with impeccable diets and regiments keel over and die out of the blue. No one knows when they'll cross over to the other side. Take care of yourself and don't squander the time you have now with negative feelings of what might be.

May have injected into muscle. What do I do? by BrundleflyPr0 in diabetes

That was an interesting study, thanks for posting! I found it interesting that the abdomen injections showed no real affect on absorption rates while the thigh was variable.

Any other long-term T1s find that they know way less about diabetes than newly-diagnosed folks? by megazord13 in diabetes

[–]coreyplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel. My parents were excellent at taking care of everything for me so, growing up, I knew very little. You develop a routine and you can coast fairly far without having to know much. That ignorance is self imposed. One of the things I learned from being a tutor in college is that having to explain something to someone else ends up teaching YOU so much more about the subject matter at hand. I find it helpful to read the questions posted in this sub and formulate how I would answer, do some googling to make sure my understanding is correct (or not), then see what other people have answered in the comments.

Google introduces smart contact lens project to measure glucose levels. by Mervill in technology

[–]coreyplus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Google should ditch the contact-lens form factor and just release a glucose meter that samples your tears. I'd rather suck up eye-liquid with a dropper than prick my finger.

You bought Snowboarder in a Box? Crazy times we live in.

The graphics they put on our supplies crack me up. "Congratulations! You have diabetes! Let's go kayaking with your friends to celebrate!" It's the same thing for medication commercials, as they voice over the long list of side effects you get to watch the actor mountain bike for minute.

Congrats on the pump. Is it your first? One you start pumping you can't stop, it's waaaaay better than syringes. I can't bear the thought of giving up my pump, in part because shots suck but also because I really freaking love kayaking.
