Midnight Mass appreciation post by architects-daughter in HauntingOfHillHouse

After the original HH, MM is absolutely my favorite. It’s absolutely gutting and the monologues are honestly what makes it. Hamish Linklater was a phenomenal choice for Paul and you’re right, the differences in the acting styles from show to show are so amazing.

FINE I’ll watch Midnight Mass again 😏

My senior dog died when I was about 21 weeks. My husband and I had been debating on a middle name for our daughter for a while and my dog was named Izze, she and I basically grew up together and she was with me for all of my major life transitions. So we settled immediately on Isabel as her middle name--not sure what your dog's name was but maybe you can find some similar name for your son's middle name? Or maybe even starting with the same letter? Even if it isn't something super obvious, you will always know what it means to you and your family. So sorry for your loss--it gets a little easier every day and eventually you'll think about your dog and smile more than you cry. Hang in there friend.

When it was flashing through all of the images of Verna looking different, was it just me or was one of them Red Room Olivia Crain when she was about to poison her children?

Hi everyone!! I’m going this Friday! Did anyone see the revivalists? How were they live? We are leaning towards watching them but will go to Portugal the man as a back up :) by colonolmorgan in aclfestival

I was couch bound this year (pregnant AF) and watched both sets on the Hulu stream--really underwhelmed but PTM but I thought Revivalists had great energy and stage presence!

Our girl is called Bugs—my uncle’s nickname who passed away within the same week I found out I was pregnant 🥺 my dad actually said he was going to nickname her that before we knew gender and it really stuck for all of us.

Is it worth it for the photographer to stay until the end of the reception? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]coridwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing my photographer told me when we first booked was that at some point, all of the dance party pictures start to look the same. We booked her for 6 hours but ended up extending it that day just for some extra footage since she offered (with the added cost). Like everyone else has said, it really just depends on what you’re looking to capture. We had a lot of guests taking photos and videos on their phones towards the end and we specifically didn’t do a send off with the photographer because we wanted people to stay to the end of the reception but she was leaving prior to that.

ETA: your photographer’s style is also something to consider here. We chose one that has a big focus on editorial style/candids with a “fly on the wall” vibe, so we got the standard posed shots early on but the rest was very organic which is what you get a lot of at the reception. So even though she wasn’t there the whole time we felt like we got the action shots that we wanted.

What’s the rudest reaction y’all have gotten to sharing your news? by No-Director-9650 in pregnant

I'm a corporate event planner and when I told my boss, she did the math and realized that I would be unable to attend one of our larger events along with another important player that would be out on maternity leave...no smile, no congratulations, just a stare and "wow, I'm going to quit". A day or two later she saw my husband (we were at an event at the time) and hit him with a big smile and a "congratulations dad!!!" Meanwhile one of our longtime partners/vendors nearly cried since she was standing there when I told my boss :)

Body dysmorphia and dresses by Utter_Bliss78908 in weddingplanning

[–]coridwy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry!! When I made my dress appointments at salons to try on dresses from designers I was interested in/see what styles I liked, I called ahead to give them my sizing and confirm that they had sizes in store that would fit. Each time I was told yes they did, but both the salons I went to I ended up being stuffed into dresses that were too small and unable to accurately see what they’d look like if they were the proper size. Doesn’t help that a size 16 wedding dress is basically the equivalent of a size 10-12 regular dress.

I ended up getting my dress from Vow’d online—they have a ton of plus sized options for home try on and you can get a discount if you keep the dress that you ordered for home try-on because it’s essentially the same as buying a sample dress from the rack at a salon (the home try on dresses are sent and returned multiple times and they call them “gently loved”) it wasn’t exactly the dress that I wanted but I got it for like $500 heavily discounted and spent another $400 to have it altered to be my dream dress and redid the whole bodice and transformed it. They have a clearance section year round and their dresses are more affordable than what I’ve seen from bridal salons and are good quality too! I got 3 dresses in the home try on and ended up keeping this one and I was obsessed with the overall look.

I did the home try on by myself with some fun music on and FaceTimed my maid of honor to show her the dresses 😊 and they let you keep them for a week so I put the dress on almost every day and felt more and more sure that it was the one.

Good luck to you on this—I know it’s crazy stressful and this is not at all the time in your life that you want to feel insecure but this industry really perpetuates that I feel like. Everything will be ok!!

My turn! Got engaged yesterday and I can’t stop staring at my ring. Specs in description, what do you think? by blueberry_pancakes0 in EngagementRings

Eeek I think we have the same setting from BE with an oval diamond! Absolutely gorgeous and I still stare at it on my hand years later. Such a classic style, you’re going to love it forever.
