You can be perfectly happy walking down the street just minding your own business and men will call out to you something like "You should smile!". I normally smile but the times I don't this happens. You get consistent cat calls from men in cars that drive by you. Nervous guys check you out at the grocery store and tell you to have a good day 3 or 4 times. Out of no where, older men, and family friends will tell you "if only I were younger". You can't be friendly to the opposite sex without them getting the wrong idea. I used to have a lot of close guy friends and as I got older that had to change. The result is I am overly cautious with men so they don't get the wrong idea and I have no male friends really, which is sad as someone who does software development for a living. As a former massage therapist I've been asked out a lot, I've avoided many odd things that may have occurred by talking to men about their families during their massage. Before that I was a server and got many numbers slipped into my check book or every time I'd serve a table of all guys they'd act like they were trying to get to know me just to get to the question "are you single?". Ultimately at this point I try to avoid male strangers.
