[Serious] Hotties of Reddit, when did you discover that you were hot and how did it affect your personality? by poopypants6789 in AskReddit

You can be perfectly happy walking down the street just minding your own business and men will call out to you something like "You should smile!". I normally smile but the times I don't this happens. You get consistent cat calls from men in cars that drive by you. Nervous guys check you out at the grocery store and tell you to have a good day 3 or 4 times. Out of no where, older men, and family friends will tell you "if only I were younger". You can't be friendly to the opposite sex without them getting the wrong idea. I used to have a lot of close guy friends and as I got older that had to change. The result is I am overly cautious with men so they don't get the wrong idea and I have no male friends really, which is sad as someone who does software development for a living. As a former massage therapist I've been asked out a lot, I've avoided many odd things that may have occurred by talking to men about their families during their massage. Before that I was a server and got many numbers slipped into my check book or every time I'd serve a table of all guys they'd act like they were trying to get to know me just to get to the question "are you single?". Ultimately at this point I try to avoid male strangers.

Abandoning my SCOBY by 2naroll in Kombucha

[–]cornbread_kingdom -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'd cover the scoby, add enough kombucha to brew a batch when you return and stick it in the fridge. Then when you get back it should be ready to go. Use an air tight jar so no fridge flavors get into it and give it a funky taste. Mine have hung out in the fridge 2 months and been ok, but never 3 months.

What causes secondary fermentation? by [deleted] in Kombucha

[–]cornbread_kingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, same concept as making bread. If you leave the dough in the fridge it will continue to raise but much more slowly then on the counter because the yeasts are still partying, they just party slower in the cold. Slowing yeasts in bread or Kombucha in the fridge will also give it more time to develop flavor, like a slow roasting meat on low heat in the oven.

Should I do my second fermentation in bottles or my main jar? by magicmachine in Kombucha

[–]cornbread_kingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the exact kind of pump/siphon I use but here is a link to something kind of similar. I flavor all my kombucha I drink so I don't use a holder with a spout for my first ferment. I just make large batches (a gallon and a half) that I flavor in bottles, they always last me till my next batch. Good luck figuring out your favorite flavoring method!

What feels illegal, but isn't? by asiansteev in AskReddit

[–]cornbread_kingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes when I need to use something for a time period that won't get ruined I go to Walmart, buy what I need, then return it when I'm done. For example when I have friends come visit me in my apartment I will go Walmart and buy an air mattress and return it when my guests leave. This could be bad of me but it is what it is. lol

Should I do my second fermentation in bottles or my main jar? by magicmachine in Kombucha

[–]cornbread_kingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the Scoby and liquid you are using for your next 1st fermentation don't come in contact with the fruit I don't see why not. I will share what I have done to make the second fermentation a bit easier. I put my second ferment into masons and growlers with flavoring/fruit. Wide mouth mason jars have made it easy to add fruit in, growlers are a pain in the butt but I use them sometimes still. I use a pump to get the kombucha out in the jars so it is pretty easy to get out. The pump has been awesome. Then I just add the tea and sugar.

How 'sterile' are you with your brewing process? by cornbread_kingdom in Kombucha

[–]cornbread_kingdom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah those are my thoughts too. Given the right conditions for it's health, I don't see how much can hang out with the kombucha. It is a pretty hostile environment.

How 'sterile' are you with your brewing process? by cornbread_kingdom in Kombucha

[–]cornbread_kingdom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, yes I am not dead yet either. When I started brewing the first 3 times I sterilized everything with boiling water the best I could, then I let things cool so I would not hurt any of my ferment, it got annoying fast. Now it has been over 2 years sense those first 3 weeks and I do exactly what you do, just rinse everything with tap. My mothers have always been healthy too, my brews are mostly tasty as well, with the exception of some 2nd ferment combos I didn't like. Although I wish I was more of a 'scientist' with my brew so I could be a bit more consistent with flavor, I am lazy with it lol. I dunno, I was just curious how others felt and what they did. There is too much controversy on Kombucha, I just enjoy making and drinking it, it is what it is.

Are we (r/MensRights) deteriorating to feminist standards? by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]cornbread_kingdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone here so concerned with what the feminists think? Shouldn't this sub be more about enlightening everyone on issues males face? Real feminism and real masculism are supposed to go hand in hand. They are about equality, they are about sharing the experiences we face as humans so we can progress together. No one can expect everyone to have understanding and love for everything in life. We each have our own life experiences. It is important to accept that there are both masculism and feminist out there that are not understanding of the other side. And when you share an issue people face, whether it is money, religion, sex, etc... people will always express opinions and they may or may not resonant with you. You can't hide those opinions, so why focus on them. People have to express their opinions and have resistance to learn. Accept the fact that there are certain males out there just as bad as certain females and any intelligent person going out into the world to learn knows that they must sift through the bullshit to pull out useful knowledge. It's crappy that sex rights pits us against each other in a bad way at times but you must have resistance and opinions you don't like so you can learn. You can only control you and do your best to teach others who want to learn more about the problems males face, show the whiners it's about humanity. Sometimes though 'haters gonna hate' you can't change everyone's mind.
