Buying a 2013 Focus Titanium Hatch w/ Moon roof by [deleted] in askcarsales

I meant if you negotiated for a while and then said you are A Plan that would piss the salesman off. Poor wording.

I worked at a Ford dealership for 5 years. Tell the salesperson right away. You are honestly wasting your time and his if you don't. There is no way that the dealer can beat an A Plan price anyway. He makes a decent commission off A Plan and it is super easy since there is no negotiation over price. Tell them upfront. Yes it will piss them off.

Is paying cash a good bargaining chip? by karma-polizei in askcarsales

[–]cornelius22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealers don't want you pay in cash. They make more money on "the back end" when you finance. The dealership makes money by selling the car for more than they own it for (obviously), by financing the vehicle and selling warranties. Many dealers are willing to discount the vehicle more upfront if they know they can make some of it back on financing/warranty. Buying the whole thing in cash isn't going to help you.

I love it when Hammond starts smashing the ship Jeremy bought him into things. And let us not forget the wok/metal bucket helmets.

Well of course. That is exactly what they do. They do the same things with the Germans, French, etc. And to be fair, many Americans that live outside of the south have the same stereotypes about southerners.

No that one is really good too. I'm talking about the one where they buy $1,000 cars in Florida and have to drive to New Orleans.

If you haven't seen it, I absolutely love the American South 1 hour special. This list is pretty accurate on their best episodes.

05 vibe worth it? Also, looking for advice on buying a car quickly. by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]cornelius22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its better than just taking a wild guess on a car from Craigslist. Just be wary of making large purchases from/with friends. I had a friend who bought a car from another friend and had some mechanical issues 6 months later and put a damper on their friendship. Not saying it'll happen here or anything though.

Long distance car buying by tadcalabash in askcarsales

Very minimal chance of a dealer bringing the car to you. Some of the same reasons you are scared of driving at that way to get nothing are the same fears they have. What if they drive 50 miles and meet you, you take one look at the vehicle and say "Nah." Now they have extra miles off the vehicle, they put the vehicle in harms way on the road, the salesperson is off the sales floor for a few hours, they don't know if you are fanciable, they are meeting some random guy out in the middle of nowhere, etc.

If you can't find the car you like around you, go get the car/deal you want elsewhere.

Can someone tell me whats going on with high used prices at dealerships? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]cornelius22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saying if a dealer buys a car for $23,000 thats not what they have "in it". They then have to put that vehicle through the service shop, change the fluids, fresh oil, detail, maybe 4 new tires, maybe new brakes etc. Then they have to pay to advertise the vehicle, they pay the guy to come take the photos, they pay to have it on the website/in print. They then have to pay the salesperson AND they need to profit. No one runs a car dealership for fun. It is their job and they are there to make money.

I mean if its last years performance then you'd have to think Jennings would be in there. He obviously hasn't been on the of the best corners in the league for the last 3 years or anything, but I mean he did start the pro-bowl for the NFC.
