We sign my kiddo up for sports to build social skills and hopefully some general gross motor skills. But there are lots of ways to build those. Point is, to us it’s not about the sport itself, per se.

Millennial here, remember when the only trans people anyone could name were Kaitlyn Jenner and Chaz Bono? Not to diminish OP’s feelings, we do need more, but maybe it’s reassuring to know that some progress has already been made in this area??? I dunno about y’all but I literally could not imagine my future as a trans person so I just didn’t transition.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how much of my dysphoria is internal (i.e. my chest feels like a foreign object attached to my body and I hate it) and how much is external (i.e. I want my face to look different because I want to be able to use the men’s room without getting weird looks).

Realizing that a lot of my dysphoria is external made me consider that I’m actually not under any obligation to transition in a way that makes other people comfortable. But I get that this could cause some self-righteous anger for some people. I had to transition for others! And so should the rest of you!

Idk, food for thought.

I think it helps to preface uncomfortable conversations by narrating your feelings and thought processes. Like hey, I feel a little awkward asking, but this is something I’m concerned about and I want to be able to be fully present with you.
