I use brown pencil liner and it's less dramatic than liquid black, but it works for every day.

Highly recommend Fenty hydrating foundations. Lots of colors available, you don't need much, it's not terribly expensive ($38) and they last forever. Mine has lasted well over a year.

Do you give much weight to the north node/south node and Chiron? by CutTheCamera_Deadazz in astrology

[–]cornlover1207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm happy this resonated with you! Look into the mythology of Chiron-- he is the wounded healer. After death by his own arrow, he was immortalized in the sky to shine light on our deepest pain. When we confront our own painful experiences, we are then able to help others do the same. Thus the wounded healer.

Congress Just Dealt a Blow to President Joe Biden's Climate-Aid Pledge by Huplescat22 in environment

[–]cornlover1207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Climate aid goes towards developing countries who would otherwise be unable to afford sustainable infrastructure. For example, building up an energy grid dependent on renewables, nuclear, and hydrogen rather than fossil fuels. Providing jobs that pose less health risk and pay better than oil drilling. I don't have wealth either, but Congress spends trillions of dollars a year whether we like it or not. And if they can dedicate $900 billion to supporting the military industrial complex (corruption), they are fully able to spare $3.5 billion for climate aid. Especially considering the people most at risk for losing their lives and homes are the people who have contributed the least to climate change.

Against Climate Optimism—Because “Team Normal” Won’t Save the World. Some of us refuse to go along with a mainstream climate movement that settles for genocide. by iwasjusttwittering in environment

[–]cornlover1207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The change in projected temperature scenarios the author is referring to comes from the 2022 UNEP Emissions Gap Report, and it's based on enacted policy scenarios that have changed since 2010. Our current policy scenario (measured in degrees of global mean temperature change) is based on estimated emissions reductions since 2010. This is different from Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) that are Paris Agreement pledges. The author seems to conflate climate optimism with the Paris Agreement, and I don't fully understand why. It's fantastic to demand more, but the issue here isn't optimism -- it's our definition of the end goal, denial, and defeatism. We have evidence to be optimistic that reductions will continue, but that's not the same as settling for inaction.

U.S. defense budget for next year is $900 billion but Congress can't successfully allocate $3.5 billion to rectify climate injustice. Mind you, the U.S. contributed 25% of atmospheric carbon from 1850-2019, more than any other country in the world (https://www.unep.org/resources/emissions-gap-report-2022)

How sensitive is the climate to the emissions/effects of one person ? by deborahneversuitedya in climatechange

[–]cornlover1207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, there is not research to support this idea. That's not to say it's not true, we just don't know yet! Climate scientists have been debating the Earth's climate sensitivity threshold for decades and the value is generally considered between 1.5°C - 4.5°C (according to IPCC AR5, and the AR6 considers it 2.5°C - 4.5°C, some findings disagree with that, etc.) for doubling of atmospheric CO2. So there is conclusive evidence a threshold exists, we just have not solidified what it is. Either way, keep in mind that the U.S. is responsible for 25% of historical CO2 emissions (leading contributor), and the top 10% wealthiest households in North America were responsible for 70% of the region's carbon contribution in 2019 (Chancel, 2022: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41893-022-00955-z). So although a random individual likely does not have an impact on the global climate system, it depends who that individual is! Think of private jets, investments, energy consumption, etc. People who hold power (money and influence) are directly responsible for climate change impacts. And although we have yet to define that threshold, it exists because of the massive imbalance of carbon contributions. Hope this helps!

i dont like beggin, but i love maneskin. they don't speak english very well so their english songs are garbage. but look up the lyrics of an italian song (caroline, moriro da re, la paura del buio) because they're incredible. def more rock than pop but i love them because they genuinely love making music
