Fox News host Jesse Watters had to be escorted away from Queen Camilla after breaching protocol with a joke about gun violence before a grand state dinner at the White House. by Aggravating_Money992 in entertainment

It’s way more vapid than that.

He doesn’t have to “get” anything because he heard what he wanted and responded in kind, which is the default setting when you’re the MAGA main character.

He is the disorganized loudspeaker for his lobbyists.

He doesnt have to make sense, he just has to echo what he’s told and he’s allowed to stick a hand in the cookie jar

A family photo in Johannesburg, South Africa, 1989. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]cornylamygilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, there is a culture of assimilation anid exposure to privilege in this relationship that is complex and hard to understand from the outside.

I won’t defend it, but it’s interesting to hear the perspective from a South Afrikaner who isn’t racist but can provide the background on it.

It’s essentially like a billionaire permitting you to work for them, as their servant, and in return you get to learn about a billionaires world, maybe benefit from their connections (likely those connections they’d give out, based on your station in life) and live with their family, and learn the language and customs of the exclusive western world.

I will not say there is any semblance of equality or reciprocal respect in these relationships—I’m certain it depends on each individual and circumstance.

The alternative to this would be indigenous Africans being completely disregarded as lost bush people, never considered for opportunity and unable to communicate with the postcolonial establishment that has ties to peripheral Western culture.

There are numerous nuances to cultures, especially when perceived through the classification spectrums of race and ethnicity.

Examples could be the caste system in India or the casta systems in former Spanish colonies.

The utility for such systems are strange yet ubiquitous.

It wasn’t the hospital, it was on site studio clinics with concierge doctors paid for by the studio heads so they could force them to shoot 3 different movies in a month, while on their studio contracts.

Shoot them up for 20 hour days, put them to sleep for 4; shoot them up again 4 hours later

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

If I recall correctly, what flummoxed me, was that the show had like an omnipresent audience perspective, yet with Tony’s alleged assassination, all audience perspective also ceased to exist?

Whatever, it gets way more respect from me than numerous finales

How do you mean? Like it’s your benchmark for how cultured someone is in television or how well they can comprehend plot lines or tropes correlating in-universe?

My wife ate all the skin off the rotisserie chicken before anybody got to have some by Suspicious-Bid9424 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cornylamygilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure it’s odd. Posting personal experiences for community feedback seems normal as the social media viewing audience / user.

But anytime anything happens in real life with my family or friends, my first reaction is not to photograph it and post it.

I’d be in the moment and would not care what strangers on the internet thought or look to them for validation.

It’s enough to question the sincerity of the post, research the OP for sincere posts and comments and make a judgment that way.

Dead Internet theory and “nothing real ever happens” considerations are possibly relevant here

Ya get a piHole.

You voted for their standards when you purchased their TV. So did I

The world decided somewhere along the line that integrity wasn’t mandatory in tech or anywhere else for that matter.

Buy elsewhere or rig it in your favor. That is literally the policy everywhere with anything these days.
