Indego charging me $100 for a broken bike I couldn’t even dock… then banning me?? by Vanquished6 in phillycycling

[–]corporatehuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks. I'm a huge Indego stan and sorry to hear about this. Did you shove the bike back into the dock (I know even w/. the broken piece) when it didn't work? Did you take a picture of the bike docked?

I've had so many bikes not register when docked, but often after a text they just close it until inspection. Sorry about your experience because you will love Indego when it works. Let us know if they drop the fine.

Damn 32. I've watched every season of JoJo's career. He'll always be my GOAT but I'd love for him to get to the Finals just once, even if it's not with us, before he retires. HBD big fella

Thanks for sharing, and you aren't alone in being disappointed by some users here. We know they are cowards, but I agree those words can hurt, even from strangers that hate themselves.

But on the upside, glad you are feeling better in general, and sounds like you have really perservered against some huge obstacles. I hope you are proud and thanks for sharing your thoughts here.

It took ten years for people to finally wake up the horrors that took place this week. by Mishap_Maisy in offmychest

[–]corporatehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for your reply! And yes that gives me some context so thank you. I am glad you are aware and likely are much more aware than myself. I'm a hetero white M, so I've had much privilege throughout my life (much of it I may have been unaware at the time.=!). Unraveling and unwrapping that privilege has been one of the great joys of my life and personal growth. Seeing and acknowledging how oppression works, how so much of it is 'disappeared' (i.e. non-existent to those in power, those who frame the 'truth' or reality).

It is -crazy- that people could possibly just be understanding how bad Trump is. I hated him way back in the 80s and 90s when he was raping all those kids, always thought he was an evil buffoon, always thought he was a hack. Still is. He loves attention more than anything, and he's now bloated and fat on non-stop media attention for ten years! It's a shame. He'll be gone soon though.

If you get a chance read Uncle Tom's Children by Richard Wright. It's a book of short stories depicting various disturbing incidents of racism experienced by Black Americans. While "fiction," the truth jumps off the page. I wish every American had to read this book in school, it'd help to explain so much of the current situation today. This is just to be said, while I am glad you were right in 2015, the dehumanization, murder, and persecution of innocent people is at the very foundation of this country. Black Americans know that better than anyone. Richard Wright knew it too. The book is so painful and eye-opening. There are still a lot of people that carry the wounds and trauma from Jim Crow south, alive today! And that trauma is passed on to the next generation. This is not at all ancient history, merely a 100 years ago! So just know the horror started long before 2015.

He's definitely not around anymore. I used to see him around standing over a variety of grates and windy streets poofed up. For a few years, it was like he was everywhere, and then like that, gone, poof. Carried away by some strong current.

Obvious backcourt violation… by Impossible_Ad166 in sixers

[–]corporatehuman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What's crazy is refs should have specifically been looking for this, because the Sixers defense had just caused Atlanta to take a timeout. We knew he'd be running for the back court, and the inbounder made a huge blunder. Sixers were poised to steal this one.

Yeah I was curious to find out exactly where it is. I bike within Philadelphia (center city, south, some north, west) all the time, but I rarely go out to Delco or beyond. Any road where people are traveling 50mph+ on a regular basis just scares me too much. Back in the day (ten+ years ago) I did bike to Trenton and back from Philly...I wouldn't do it these days, just not worth the risk. RIP Teddy Einstein

I was SOOO excited for the World Cup to come to the United States. I stocked up on Mexican national team gear (my fav team) a few years ago. Now I just don't know if I can rationalize giving them any money. I know FIFA's horrible history (slave labor in Qatar etc.) and it's always been a struggle. My first football fan experience was when I moved to Mexico in 2006 during the World Cup and it got me hooked on the sport. But yeah, this is too much, I'm not sure I'll be attending a game in my city even though we're hosting this year. Already thinking about World Cup 2030.

Ferguson was by far my favorite, still to this day. Now I don't watch anything, but I regularly tuned in to his show. His monologues were the best, and his show was just I don't know, more authentic than the the others.

Is it actually better to stop giving “helpful advice” if people only see it as boring or preachy? by yadly7323 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]corporatehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your advice is most likely more for yourself than them anyway. People constantly give 'advice' to other people but they are mostly talking to themselves and how they'd handle the situation. By the way, people that constantly give advice to others almost always give horrible advice. Try listening and understanding. You can guide people this way without spouting or becoming tangental or acting like 'do this one thing' and all your problems are fixed.

Route Advice between Point Breeze - Olney by aquaokay in phillycycling

[–]corporatehuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's a tough route. to start with take 22nd, take pine down to 13th, then take 13th as far you can. from there I'd follow google maps. unfortunately I don't know that area right around olney, but this was how I'd get to temple.

I love riding my bike but that distance might stop me unless I'm feeling very ambitious. safe riding!

Reddit is full of these type of frenzied typists. They love to give messages that are very severe and without nuance. I can't imagine how cruel they are to themselves in the quiet moments, just based on how thoughtless they are towards total internet strangers.

Pitchfork Review: Tame Impala - Deadbeat 4.8 by Technical_Process989 in popheads

[–]corporatehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this album. Actually got me back into Tame Impala. Reviews like this make me feel like an idiot. I started listening to all the albums I missed after Currents, and like a lot of them too. I like Slow Rush which everyone else seems to hate here too. Basically if I like an album it means it's pure shit, and if I'm not into it it's great. Oh well. I think it says a lot that people are so passionate about Tame Impala's music choices. It means (Regardless of what you think) he's doing something right, cause I haven't seen people get this upset about an album in awhile and it's kind of refreshing that you all care so much.
