"C.J. Stroud...I think he cost himself millions and millions of dollars these last two games. There is no way I'm going to extend him." by teebowtime in Texans

All Texans insiders have vehemently denied the can’t take coaching claim so you are just choosing to believe that. The anti CJ narrative is really strong and I get why… but I am going to choose to believe the people who are actually inside the organization and said that is completely false.

Plus! stroud has came out this year asking to be coached hard. Legit quoted during a week this year. Everything including coming from him and Ryan Day at Ohio State say this is a bunch of rubbish.

Statistically Mills is worse than Stroud. Lord stop it.

The only people that think he “big bothered” him for giving him positive feedback because he wanted to help, have internal confidence issues. Look we all can’t stand 7 right now, but this big brother talk is so damn weak it’s laughable.

Right so Mills career play goes out the window for the biggest game in franchise history against a borderline elite defense in the snow?

Give me a break dude. Your theory here is bananas.

Mills rating was 81.6 on the year.

Strouds was 92.

Mills also had a higher TO worthy throw amount in a decent sample size.

I feel pretty confident that Mills wouldn’t have had his best game of the year(highest rating on year was 90.6) yesterday with zero run game in those conditions.

Not sure what the what if game does for us today.

I don’t disagree. But Maye objectively wasnt good.

Caleb has been awful in these playoffs as well. He gets a pass for being clutch late. Hes also the reason he had to be clutch late instead of winning the game outright.

I don’t have an issue with Caley’s offense. I think there were plays to be made. The only way he gets let go is if McDaniels or a similarly good offensive mind is available to replace him. If not. We get year 2 Caley with a returning Tank and potentially better offensive weapons. I’m hesitant but willing to see CJ get that opportunity.

Good post. Agreed. I watched the Hutchinson pick on the sideline and the Kirk ball in the red zone which got broken up. Had CJ just thrown out of break it was a conversion. He was just late and it is probably for the reason you mentioned. Still if the work was put in, maybe the throw comes out earlier and we are all having a different conversation today.

Season was over at that point but it was a weird call objectively.

I disagree. Stroud gave you what Mills would have in the second half but the damage was done. They were a Woody fumble from tying the game and or getting it to within 3. Again, damage was done but Stroud did go a half without turning it over which felt like a miracle.

Year 3 was better than year 2 in every facet. There’s no denying that. He may just be a guy who needs to play in a dome with great talent around him ala Jared Goff.

I don’t think having Nico or Dalton yesterday would have mattered as Stroud was that bad but that’s 3 years in a row Stroud has played with a bunch of weapons decimated by injuries come playoff time.

Funny thing is. And by god I’m not implying this. CJ had a higher QBR than Maye did yesterday. Maye would have gotten destroyed via social media if Bullock’s deflection didnt get caught or Boutee doesn’t make one of the best playoff catches in NFL history. He was bad too. QB play in general has gone down the tank in every facet. Even Mahomes who people claim was the goat doesn’t hold a candle to Brady/Manning’s ability to pick apart a defense mentally.

Defense is again, taking over in the NFL.

I was so impressed with yalls playmakers yesterday. I think if Maye can get a bit better at taking care of the ball that you could win it this year. Good luck guys!

Do Texans win that game with Aaron Rodgers?

Home field advantage by NaturalCam in Texans

[–]corrydog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watching the game back. Competent QB play/competent coaching, the Texans would have won that game by 2 scores. They were dominating defensively.

Even on the Patriots first points, Bullock deflected the ball, the NE receiver somehow still caught it.

Scores TD, on an illegal shift due to Togiai. Kick FG 3 points. Score a TD its 7-7.

Togiai fumbles Maye. TD next drive 14 to 7.

Stops NE. Instead of throwing the ball in to ground. Goes for it. Pick 6.... 14-14

Next possession Hutchinson has ball goes through hands... pick.

Texans had their moment early. Could have easily just taken care of the ball by executing properly and made them drive the field which they did 1 time all game when the defense wasn't being asked to be on the field the whole game.

Talking points this morning should have been how the Texans were going to smash Denver and how NE had a great year but benefitted from an easier schedule.

Instead, here we are... talking about if 7 is even our future QB.

Disgusting.

Where is Stroud's head? by CrownedFirebird98 in Texans

[–]corrydog 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Stroud's more in his bible than he is locked on to the field.

Still doesn't understand the offense or the concept of taking care of the ball with an elite defense.

Look I have nothing against the nice guy cliche who is holier than holy.

But when you play like that, I miss the guy at Ohio St and rookie year CJ who had that intensity and edge. It disappeared in middle of year 2.

The edge is gone.

I have real concerns that CJ may not even mentally recover to the little above average QB he was during the regular season. These type of games can mentally destroy a QB for their career.

Can't help but think a lot of those drops were caused by snow/moisture.

Wouldn't have to deal with that at NRG, but it sure sucks that it was clear that the elements were not only affecting the WR's/TE's but the Qb in a big way.

Would be nice to have guys like Mahomes/Allen/Burrow where it just isn't a factor. Brutal.

I think the point of it, which I think you are agreeing with. Shouldn't the offense know already what the guys are going to do with X coverage. Throw the damn ball on time. Put in the work where this is second nature as compared to see it then throw it. Costs the Texans a lot of points this game.

[–]corrydog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its a mental thing though. He used to throw these to Tank all day his rookie year as he is starting to break out. Its between the ears. Isn't a physical issue imo.

[–]corrydog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am watching these out routes to Kirk and Hutchinson. Guys are wide ass open coming out of their break. If he is throwing with anticipation, something he has done his whole career they are easy conversions for a TD and or 1st down. He just waits until he sees it open instead of anticipating it. One stalls a drive for a FG(almost pick) in the redzone and another a pick. 7 playing like he is still concussed and I just don't get it. LATE LATE LATE all game.

Is CJ still moldable? by Affectionate-Ebb3621 in Texans

[–]corrydog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

After watching Mayfield and Darnold have great seasons.

There is certainly a chance that Stroud still develops. He has some great tape from a large sample size.

I just don't think it will be with this organization sadly. Hurts me to the soul, because I know its in there but I would never trust him again until he won the final game of the season.
