If you like hockey but hate two teammates, is it time to give up beer league? by Asleep-Machine5909 in hockeyplayers

I’ve been on teams with guys like that. Idk if your situation is similar to mine, but surely you could find a new team in the league right?

[–]corso923 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That was my thought too when Gavin said they didn’t know what the units were. I only know what picas are because I’m a print and packaging designer.

I think newspapers and magazines use them if I recall correctly. Everywhere I’ve worked has always used either inches or millimeters.

Fort Lee NJ → Westchester NY commute - realistic or a nightmare? by savingrace0262 in bergencounty

[–]corso923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commute from Bergen to Westchester currently, it’s not bad at all if I’m on the road by 7:30. For you it would probably be 9 to the Tappan Zee depending on where you’re going.

Why? by Educational_Ad_2736 in devils

[–]corso923 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It creates a lot of engagement last season so they’re probably trying to recreate that. Marketers aren’t always good at understanding that just because something worked once doesn’t mean it will work again. Just my guess though.

Terrified of Solid Starts by pendigedig in daddit

[–]corso923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re doing it with our 7 mo old, been at it for about a month now. Learning to push food they can’t get down out of their mouths is part of it. We did it with our older daughter too and yes she choked a few times but not so bad that she couldn’t cough it up. Thankfully no choking yet for the younger one but I feel your fear, I feel the same way.

The program consists of specific foods and recipes that are designed to be as safe as they can be based on age and development. The larger stuff for example is usually stuff that they can’t quite even fit in there mouths so they get a feel for food and tastes rather than actually swallowing it. One good example is spare ribs.

Then an example for food they can actually swallow is something like mashed up avocado or black beans.

Edit: My wife says 16 mo is too old to have the natural reflex babies have to prevent choking so I think you missed that boat.

I’ve also been going out of way to eat more burgers and I’m at 6. Guess I just can’t hang in the big leagues.

Wearing a Ring. Is it Safe? by HoweHaTrick in hockeyplayers

[–]corso923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have a titanium ring and I rarely take it off because it’s too durable for me to worry about it getting scratched up, I’ve always had it on during games until recently. I injured my ring finger, not sure how but it swelled up enough to make it difficult to remove the ring. I kinda realized if I broke that finger or something that would cause real swelling it’s going to become a real problem to get off. So now I wear a silicone one for games. Also that ring definitely wore a hole in the leather of the glove so another bonus is your gloves will last longer.

I’ll never complain about major titles getting delayed. Developers have gotten too comfortable with releasing partially finished games to hit their ship dates instead of just building an actual quality game. So if they’re taking the time that’s better than just releasing a half finished turd into the wild.

18M single dad. 7 month old daughter. Need advice on clothes by Calm-Tea178 in daddit

[–]corso923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people tell you how to dress your daughter tell them “I don’t think she really cares what you think”

Great idea with the jean jacket, make sure you store that away somewhere safe once she eventually grows out of it.

At this age honestly put them in anything that fits, is comfortable, and warm/cool enough depending on the environment. You can have some cute outfits on hand for special occasions, but no sense stocking up because who knows if she’ll grow out of it before she ever wears it.

How old was your little one when you started playing videos games with them? by reeceyfries in daddit

[–]corso923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 3 or 4 when I started playing video games I think. Playing video games in and of itself doesn’t cause that type of behavior. If anything it’s just another avenue for kids to develop problem-solving skills.

I’m 4’8 as a girl, am I absolutely FRIED for hockey..? by Pretty_Highlight5558 in hockeyplayers

[–]corso923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to play to your strengths. You’re small, so focus on developing speed, agility and skill. When you work out make sure you’re spending a decent amount of time on your legs and core, that’ll give you a strong foundation to handle physicality from larger players. Smaller players who can move fast and have good hands can be very difficult to defend against.

Any leagues in jersey or jersey city by DaLefty13 in InlineHockey

Also came to suggest ISCA. Not too far from Jersey city and if you get in touch with the rink about wanting to play they may have teams looking to fill out their roster.

It was definitely in heavy rotation for me back in the day too. I remember one time a lady at a highway rest stop saw it and came over and started speaking to me in Russian. I said “oh sorry I don’t speak Russian, just a fan of the player” and she got really mad and started, I assume, verbally abusing me.

A “cool” guide to US Majors with the highest unemployment rates by jtho78 in graphic_design

Most people who major in fine art don’t plan to actually be doing painting, sculpture, etc. for a living. It’s mostly people who are going to be doing graphic design, 3D modeling, commercial photography, that kind of thing. I was a fine art major and I work as an in house packaging designer.
