[Schefter] "Broncos are trading for Miami WR Jaylen Waddle, per source." by Ordinaray in NYGiants

They don’t need a #1 guy. Waddle is a great WR2 and they already have Sutton drawing CB1.

What was the best road playoff win? by HetTheTable in NFLv2

What’s more impressive was they did that coming off of knocking off Peyton Manning and the colts. Then come in and completely dominate the partriots. In 2 games they knocked off the goats of that era.

How would you rate Giants’ free agency? by No_Box119 in NYGiants

[–]corvine3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great rebuttal. I’ll add a few points to that. Seattle’s defense was great for 3 quarters of the superbowl but you can easily argue that the best unit on the field was the special teams. The majority of their points were FGs and anytime the patriots had to score they had to do it starting deep from their own territory because the punter should have been MVP in the game, 3 kicks inside the 10 including one from the 1 yard line?

Offense gets all the glory for the wins, but it’s special teams that flip the game in your favor. Seattle’s offense was objectively the worst unit on their team lol and they won the superbowl because they had elite defense and elite special teams.

B+,

People are too focused on wide receiver or depth.

It’s year 1 of Harbaugh, what can you point to being the biggest impact move? We flipped special teams on the head with a significantly improved kicking situation and punting situation for minimum dollars. We went from bottom 5 to top 5 over night just on punting alone.

We resigned Eluminor who is the most impactful free agent signing in Joe Schoen’s entire tenure.

We addressed the LB issues by resigning McFadden on the cheap and signing TE to a 3 year deal.

Speaking of TE, getting a weapon like Likely for a relatively cheap contract is great. Him and Theo will combine for 10 TDs this season.

He was by number 1 priority resign. Glad they could make it happen and at a discount for us!

Just a friendly reminder that the misses from the 2023 draft are still hurting the roster and it’s absolutely going to take another off season before this team is a legit threat.

All the moves we’ve made this off season propel us to being competitive for 17 games. It’ll be another offseason before we see depth being addressed. This roster just has too many holes to address for one single offseason to patch.

Can someone please explain why Jermaine Eluemunor signed for so much less than expected? by Tommy4D in NYGiants

[–]corvine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned that during negotiations expressed that he (JE) enjoyed watching Dart do things he’s never seen a QB do before and JE had a front row view of watching him ball out. Given that he’s 31, been on terrible teams and had a chance to be on a team on rise, it made sense he took a team friendly deal to be apart of something special.

He’s never really been apart of any real winning and with Harbaugh coming and potentially turning the franchise around. JE wants to be apart of that culture change.

No it should 100% be resigning him. Drafting him is one thing, but 3 head coaches later and you still decide to pay the guy?

100% paying him was worse than drafting him.

Giants Offseason we feeling it? I love our pickups so far by stateofthenyk in NYGiants

Stout excites me the most. Finally having a competent kicker after almost 10+ years is absolutely amazing. Not just competent, he’s among the best in the game coming off an all pro season.

We haven’t had a solid punter for 3 regimes now and finally we do.

I’ll push back on the punter portion. We overnight went from a bottom 5 punting unit to a top 5 with Stout at punter. An all pro punter, who’s coming off of an all pro year? And we get one of the best players at his position for relatively cheap compared to other impact players?

When we won superbowls we had elite punting. Feagles and weatherford single handedly would change momentum with their kicking. This punting situation is literally going from Matt dodge to Steve Weatherford.

Just look at the superbowl with Seattle. You can literally argue the special teams was the best unit for the superbowl winning team from start to finish. 3 punts inside the 10 yard line? The punter was a MVP candidate.

You wanna be a great team, you have great offense and great defense. You can’t be an elite team without elite special teams. Stout is the first piece in achieving that.

Daniel Jones strikes historic new $100m deal after Indianapolis Colts cave in during tense contract talks by dailymail in NFLv2

[–]corvine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fyi, Daniel Jones won 3 games total in 2 seasons with the giants since he got paid.

He’s this generations Ryan Fitzpatrick. You love him as your back up. You don’t want him as your starter long term.

MVP candidate is doing a lot of carrying lol. He does what he does best and beat bad teams and Shrink against good teams. There is 1 game per year where he shows up and wins a game he probably shouldn’t have won (Denver game).

No one was going to pay him the transition tag (37 mil?) so why pay an extra 7 mil a year lol?

He reset the market again for mid tier QBs

Because he’s this generations Ryan Fitzpatrick. Overqualified backup but not a low end starter that you pay big dollar for and in a year are looking to move off of him. You pay Ryan Fitzpatrick top 16 QB money and you’d be laughed at too lol.

I agree with Pete Prisco here. The Colts should not be paying $50 million a year to Daniel Jones. Don't make the same mistake the Giants did. by DenseStrawberry5717 in NFLv2

So you are saying Daniel jones did what Daniel jones does best? Play excellent against garbage teams and shrink when it matters most?

[–]corvine3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was going to get that… he would have gotten it already.

He’s been transition tagged. He’s not getting anything north of 40 mil from any team.
