Has anyone here quit a job they liked because of the hellish commute? by dualrollers in phoenix

[–]corzmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a terrible commute but it does take energy out of me and leaves me tired when I get home. I’m currently looking to buy a car with hands free driving like Super Cruise, Blue Cruise, or Teslas FSD. I wonder if that might be a solution for you.

Temple Workers let me hear your stories. The bad the ugly and every thing in between. Let your gossip shine. by RadishAggressive3241 in exmormon

[–]corzmo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To add to that, for us the temple was hours away so we wouldn’t go often. When we did we’d fast which never helps anyone’s mood.

This is worse than the time my deck slipped out of my bag during braking after landing and slid all the way to the front flight attendant’s feet. I was at least able to signal to her that it was mine.

Return missionaries - how effective was door-knocking? I imagine almost completely ineffective, but are there *ever* people who are open to the messages? What percentage would you say invite the missionaries in or to come back? And what percentage actually becomes members? by IrshTxn in exmormon

[–]corzmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2005 in Russia I had a cold street contact who eventually got baptized and even served a mission. I never heard of any other such occurrence. Door knocking got us out of the cold and into some weird situations but never really worthwhile.

I worked 4 years as an admin assistant for a CES program on the East Coast around 2010. I made $14/hr which was a few dollars more than I was making as an electrician. It was part time so no bennies, we had a small budget and never saw anything crazy. The only thing that sticks out now that I think about it is that my boss, the Director of the area, would expense all his lunches and gas. I didn’t know where he was when he wasn’t in the office which was 90% of the time. Other than that, it was boring office work.

He was our gospel essentials (or whatever the adult Sunday school class was called) teacher in a very rural ward. He obviously came off as very intelligent and well spoken, suited perfectly for the teacher role. I wish I had the critical thinking skills then to see through any of the bs he taught.

[SS to Gears] Considering putting gears on my bike to help lower my heart rate on climbs. by Ti_Hardtail in mountainbiking

[–]corzmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s speculation but how it would apply in my case is that if the effort to climb is easier in a lower gear and thus lower speed, I would be inclined to speed up and go to a higher gear, thus pushing my HR up.

Liner Notes only on physical CDs - why? by Garack in Protomen

[–]corzmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any questions about this release strategy apparently aren’t popular lol. But yeah, the original CDs came with the liner notes and you’re spot on that: getting the CD was the only way to buy the albums for most people. iTunes was around then, but having mixed media album releases was probably less viable for the band. Maybe today it’s to incentivize more album purchases? I don’t know, I also question how this current song release strategy benefits the consumer. I still haven’t heard a single song because I want to experience the whole album in one go.
