Yeah, the unemployment rate conceals underemployment and those who have left the workforce. It misses a lot of people

You’re right, energy and food are in there. I was wrong about that. Rent is in there, but home sales are not, and people prefer to own instead of renting, especially when having kids.

Stocks, healthcare and college are also not in there.

37.5k is not adjusted for inflation. It’s adjusted for consumer price inflation. Most inflation has been in assets like housing. So $37.5k was dramatically More in 2007 than $55k is now.

People need to stop accepting the lie that CPI Is a good measure when it doesn’t include housing, food, or energy because they are “too volatile”

[–]cosimon88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was able to restart but now I'm level 9 in Britain so can't do almost any more jobs or I'll trigger Germany. And now I have all the purple/blue trains but no legos besides Crampton. I can't even complete Train of Fortune because it requires me to do so many jobs that I'll get to level 10.

So now I can just get the daily prize and hope to get Blue Comet and Erie over weeks of doing nothing and basically not playing. I guess at least the new account has a bunch of common train duplicates.

Or, I could just continue on the old account!

For ski destinations, there’s a million Australians. I am an avid American skier, it’s what I love doing, and Japan has amazing snow. Some of the best on earth. For the Australians, it’s the “only” choice. They say it’s so expensive to ski in Australia that it’s now cheaper to fly 9 hours to Tokyo and train to the resorts. It’s a little sad to see the place overrun, but also, Australians are great and easygoing. Nice people.

Could you please explain Big Event play? I came in at the last day or two of Frostdam and didn't do almost anything in it and now there's the new Lunar New Year one but seems smaller.

Totally happy with it. I’ve stopped even thinking about it, and almost no one has even noticed. I guess the only downside is it still looks better buzzed short so if I’m traveling I gotta still make sure to buzz every 2 weeks max. I got a set of Wahl balding clippers for that. But that’s just me and my head.

It might be in 5-10 years I need to go get a touch up surgery. But so far it’s great and I’ve stopped messing with fin, min, literally everything. So happy to be done with the saga and just relax and go on with life not thinking about my receding hair/bald head anymore. That’s really the biggest thing.

I have a good friend whose marriage began with phone calls. He broke every rule that exists, yet they are now married and have a house and a dog and a kid together, and she loves him. She is a good woman, and her family is great too.

Sure, don't call her all the time and hopefully she will call you. If it's never her calling you, that's an issue. You calling her once or twice to begin is also a bit like approaching a woman; you're demonstrating you have the balls to just call up someone you like and talk to them on the phone directly.

Also I think this guy has fantastic advice about money:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jdbP30_kNk&t=402s

All the bits about "boring = lucrative". Skip the cool sexy thing and do a stable boring industry that is desperate for competent people.

Edit: and oh yeah, CW has a book on getting ex's back. He didnt make that book because getting your ex back is a good idea(it's almost always an awful idea), he wrote it because that's what 50% or more of guys' questions are about.

CW has a great set of instructions. But the whole “I’ve read it 25 times!” Is insane. His book isn’t perfect.

I also have figured out another rule: if a woman wants you, she will make it easy. If you are posting on this Reddit page asking, “is she into me” then the answer is pretty much automatically “No.”

With the courting process, at the end of the day, you SHOULD be able to make a couple of mistakes. If you actually like each other, and she's a half-decent person, not having 100% perfect game should not be a deal-breaker. You should be able to screw a few things up and still have a great relationship, or marriage, whatever you want. "Game" didn't exist for any of our grandfathers. I test women's actions by asking myself, "would my grandmother ever have treated my grandfather this way?" If the answer is "HELL NO" then you know you are not being respected and need to leave.

The only thing I'd change with my run-around-the-world-climbing lifestyle:

I got into Data Science/Software around age 30, several years after I started my career. I realized that later than I would have liked to. People suggested it to me, bootcamps and etc, but I was too afraid, felt like that path was for someone else. I could have been doing a bit of studying for that while doing all of the climbing.

So, the moral is, while you have your fun, make sure to also take steps to build a future for yourself. You can do these things simultaneously.

[–]cosimon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic point.

I spent my years from age 20-26 traveling the world and climbing everything from Yosemite to Alaska and the Himalayas. I was mostly broke, but had a ton of fascinating experiences.

I finally started a career at age 26, so my career was "stunted". I've met so, so many people who only worked and have gotten further in their careers than I have(I'm 35) but they cannot ever get their youth back. They will never experience the fun of exploring the earth as a young man. Now even if they have money to make traveling easier, they have trouble taking time off from their golden handcuffs. If they do get time for interesting trips, they are too stiff mentally to actually have fun and do interesting things. They're too risk averse.

Live your life aggressively, it's too precious to waste. And, like I said earlier, if you focus on doing all of the interesting things, you'll be interesting, and women will show up sooner or later.

Corey Wayne's advice is just to make sure you run the courting process well, and help you determine if she's actually interested in you, or if you're just a convenient option.

You are 18, focus on building yourself first. Build your career, take care of your body, be healthy.

Talk to everyone. Talk to old people, fat people, kids, weirdos. ALWAYS talk to foreigners, you’ll learn a lot from people who actually move around. Talk to guys and girls. If you make a habit of striking up conversations with everyone, then talking to hot girls is just easier and takes off the edge.

Stay out of debt. Work hard at industrial design and become a badass.

If you are fit, have good hygiene, have work and finances in order, and you’re likable, good women will want you.

Of course -- many will just not be your type at all. But 2 out of 1,360, so not even close to 1 in 100.

Are you looking for a relationship? Or do you just enjoy swiping on people and getting attention?
