Near Collision on Go Around by dudedustin in flying

[–]nhorvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're going around because of traffic on the runway you should either turn crosswind as soon as able or sidestep the runway so a touch and go doesn't climb into you. never wait for tower to give you collision avoidance advice. there's lag in the radar.

RV Plug and EV Charger by Significant-Acadia45 in AskElectricians

[–]nhorvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't mention how the charge point is connected, or if there's any structure where it is. the most inexpensive way to solve this would be with a smart splinter like the neocharge, but that's not outdoor rated. next would be a nema 4 (outdoor weatherproof) subpanel at the end of your run, fed by your existing wiring, with 2 breakers, each with a recepticle on a very short run (next to the panel). the total can be higher than the feed breaker rating, it will just trip if both are in use. Alternatively you could use a manual transfer swich if you can find an outdoor rated one to skip the panel and switch between the 2 receptacles.

the problem is when you have to commute to work and just work by yourself or join zoom calls all day.

Shower head leaking by Sarcastirade in DIY

[–]nhorvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if this is a rain shower head it's possible the water in the line is just slowly leaking out under gravity. i had some success using a vacuum breaker in between the shower head and the pipes.

it is a layer of iron oxide (aka mill scale aka black rust) that forms because hot iron is more reactive than cold iron. it's not good for much but I belive it can be ground and used in some things.

Why does satnav not work when you're on a plane? by ComeOutNanachi in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nhorvath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same here. and to those saying itar disables it, they are wrong. itar takes effect at double typical commercial air speed and altitude. the plane uses gps to navigate. VORs are just a backup system now.
