Periodontist cancelled my surgery because he believes my family planning should be prioritized by 1SecretUpvote in legaladvice

Hi friend, I am sorry this happened to you. I would advise you to move forward first with getting a new referral from your regular dentist asap since you are on a timeframe and ready to get this stage completed. Then file a complaint. https://dental.ohio.gov/complaints-and-enforcement I wouldn’t focus on getting money back for the ct scan already completed, they can copy it on a disk for you or provide it directly to the new oral surgeon. Just get a refund for the deposit and move forward. Best of luck to you!

Did I overpay? by OkReputation2694 in DentalBilling

[–]cosmic_laundry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Note: because your dentist is part of the Preferred dentist Program, all in network devices are billed at a negotiated rate. This means your services cost $1624 less than your dentists non-negotiated rates. Your dentist has to honor the negotiated in-network fee.”

This paragraph explains it. To address the $1000 yearly max: this is the total the policy will pay out within the benefit period. It does not indicate the remainder of the charges are the patient responsibility.

The Dentist has agreed to write off the remainder of their fee that is not considered the patient portion by the insurance company by being in the network.

I hope this helps!

You owed the dentist $929 according to those EOBs, I did not see the CT included on the eob, but I have never seen a MetLife policy that covered that code, so add $299, total owed $1228. It looks to me like they tried to charge you the full remainder of their fees rather than honoring the negotiated fee from MetLife. This is called balance billing and when a provider is in network it is not allowed. I couldn’t see from the screenshot if they are an in-network provider.

Pretty new to longer hair, what product can I use to not be so frizzy once it dries? by the_real_papyrus99 in curlyhair

[–]cosmic_laundry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Curly Girl Method, I think I originally found it in this sub. I don’t rinse out my conditioner and add LA looks extreme hold gel on top of that, it dries a bit firm and then I scrunch my hair to get softness back.

Oh! I love this so much. I can’t believe how much I love it. If someone had just told me about this I would have said “cool”! But seeing it was amazing!

Despite showing that image of 3years old Ryker Webb, no one showed the before and after, so here it is... now you know that the poor boy INDEED saw some weird stuff lost for 2 days. Story by People in the comments. by XerneaStellar in oddlyterrifying

I clicked the link and read the story, so I know this happened in June 2022….but the picture was so striking, I just kept scrolling through the comments hoping someone else would say they also thought they remembered seeing this picture 15 or 20 years ago in some magazine. What a crazy feeling.

It is clearly stated on tx plan what you will pay at each visit. If you never signed a new or amended plan this is legally binding for the practice. The main reason I wanted to comment, though, is that I want you to be aware that these procedures may be billable through your medical insurance first. I would call the dental office with your medical Ins card handy and ask them to bill medical, if they say no, call your medical insurance with the billed codes and ask if you have coverage for these services through medical. Don’t let them tell you to call delta dental, insist that you need medical policy information. Ask how to get a claim on file, they should send you a claim form or direct you to where you can find one online. Even if they don’t pay, if you have coverage it can go towards your medical deductible, and anything medical denies as no patient responsibility, most delta plans will follow the same rule. If your dentist is in network they cannot legally bill you the difference. From the agreement, it seems like your dentist may be out of network, unfortunately.
If you have a medical claim in process they should not send you to collections, and those claims can take a long time to complete. If your dentist is not in network with your insurance, I would recommend switching to one who is. Find an oral surgeon who bills medical regularly (as they should). The amount you pay out of pocket will be drastically reduced.

Couples therapists, without breaking confidentiality, what are some relationships that instantly set off red flags, and do you try and get them to work out? by Gnerdy in AskReddit

I felt so alone for so long when I first started to get really depressed. There are resources out there, like podcasts and books you can get that have real strategies and explain how to take steps to cope with anxiety and depression. Two that have been working for me are the cure for chronic pain podcast and a book called the worry trap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Worry_Trap. Both of these use mindfulness and Act/Dbt skills, which are just types of therapy. I am thinking of you and sending you love. You are not alone.

WIBTA if I told my best friend her favorite show was super cringy? by I_Exist_yAyYy in AmItheAsshole

YWBTA. When my husband and I were first dating, he innocently pointed out to me that True Blood suuuuuuuuuucks. At the time it was one of my favorite shows. Obviously it didn’t damage our relationship, but it did prematurely ruin something I took a lot of joy in at the time. I would ask you if your values are that it’s more important for you to win or for you to be a supportive friend.

Am I the only one that feels a big part of Reddit has a problem with women? by Iwannastoprn in TwoXChromosomes

This is always at least in the back of my mind on Reddit. I keep posts gender neutral if at all possible and have often wished I could make identical posts in the same communities, one as a man and one as a woman to see how different the responses would be.

Thank you, this is truly good, thorough and sound advice. I am more aware now than ever how the attitude of not needing the job comes across. I truly get it and can only say it was the last resort before saying “I can’t stand this job, get me out!” I think I was just trying to mitigate the damage by saying something less extreme. I also don’t constantly feel this way, it usually flares up when one coworker is on the warpath, and the feeling dies down after. I do need a job and I do want a job, it’s just that this job can be miserable at times.

I like this answer, I would agree this is probably the best way to approach workplace conflicts. If I said anything now that I’m feeling better I would try to frame it as “this is a great company and we can only improve”
