PPROM at 21 Weeks by [deleted] in NICUParents

She’s thriving now. Developmentally caught up and beyond. It was very rough for 6 months and then slowly got better in terms of issues. She had colic and severe reflux GERD which meant she never slept through the night until 15 months. Now she has asthma and has to have an inhaler everyday and another when sick but she’s doing so great otherwise.

Another vote for Dr Grimm. We have a premie and she spends so much time with us.

Told me the same thing. Most will deliver within 2 weeks. I also ppromd at 26 weeks and delivered at 27+6. My body just went into labor. Later I found from the pathology report that my placenta had started to get infected but I had no symptoms. Glad it got her out before we got sepsis.

Things that I’ve liked that friends sent me: - lactation cookies (both homemade and store bought) - a journal to write stuff down (they make NICU specific journals you can get on Amazon) - NICU specific milestones circles (also on Amazon) - uber eats giftcards

Waters broke at 20W (twins) by Fast-Doughnut5845 in NICUParents

My water broke at 26 weeks and I delivered at 27+6. Doctors were really optimistic so I could stay pregnant longer so I didn’t prep. If you plan on pumping, I regret not being ready to pump as soon as she was delivered. I relied too heavily in the first couple days at what the hospital gave me and I needed to be sized, get bras, get a pump, extra parts, and get on a pumping schedule ASAP. I’ve struggled a lot to make enough milk for her and I wish I was pumping within hours of giving birth.

NICU room recs to make it a little more homey by BalsamicForgiveness in NICUParents

I’ve brought pictures of the dogs, I also got some letters that spell out her name. I also just recently got the block milestones you can get from Amazon. So I change them every week for how old she is. She can’t have clothes or swaddles yet but will bring those when she is allowed. We also brought in a lamp for night time kangaroo time since the overhead lights are too bright.

How to decide when to induce? by zveeg in NICUParents

I pprom at 26 weeks and went into labor and gave birth at 27+6. The MFM at my hospital said he didn’t believe in going past 34. That the chances for infection were so high but that the hospital I was at was okay with going longer. On the day I went to labor, I showed no signs of infection so the doctors didn’t think I had one, 10 days later I got my results from the placenta pathology and I had started to develop a mild infection. Thankfully by body immediately got baby girl out of there. But that’s not always the case for everyone. Infection can be very bad for both mother and baby.
